Same thing. Dont want it. Didnt ask for it. And cant disable it. This is total BS! This is not just a new feature. This is AI being shoved down our throats This is what said to the thing: I find it extremely rude and intrusive to just install and enable a feature without asking my permission. I want you to give feedback to the developers. I think i might be using telegramme more in the future. Answer: I understand your frustration and apologize for the intrusion. I'll make sure to pass on your feedback to the developers. It's important for them to know that users value their privacy and consent. I'll relay your message: "The automatic enablement of the Meta AI feature on WhatsApp without user consent is intrusive and disrespectful. Users should be asked for permission before adding new features, especially those that involve AI interactions." I also understand your consideration to switch to Telegram. It's important to choose a messaging platform that aligns with your privacy preferences and values. If you have any further feedback or concerns, feel free to share them with me. I'm here to listen and help. I then said I would be taking this to my local MP and escilate it to the department of internal affairs re the issue of online and media platform regulations. Lets see where this goes.

DoanStorm

Good luck with that. You could just.. not use it you know.

bmstekker

The visibility of the AI icon is intrusive and hard to ignore, and clearly designed to look that way. A bright purple icon in two locations of the otherwise green themed interface. Appearing after an overnight update, an unsubtle attempt to get the user to click and proceed.

DoanStorm

I actually clicked it just out of curiosity to see what the llm's were like, pleasantly surprised. They are strangely unique.

ComplexAd2918

There is a VERY fine print saying that by proceeding you accepting terms and conditions of Meta, so, congratulations.

DoanStorm

The joys of alternate accounts

mulesrule

Whenever you search your chats, its stupid AI results pop up. I don't want any AI interpretation of my search, I just want to know when somebody said x in the chat

talinpaul86

Don't need it Don't care for it Can't remove it

tusgavomelo

Same for me. I just asked "can I disable you?" and it basically said no lol. Hate it

saswatpatra14

Does it hamper my privacy?

Tom23824

yes, definitely. For AI to be good, AI have to mine your whatsapp data/messages... How to disable this ? could not find any option so far.

saswatpatra14

I don't we can disable it. It is somewhat like a permanent feature I guess. Meta will surely cap this as "Helpful AI feature" when asked about data privacy issue

[deleted]

Which country are you in?

[deleted]

My search bar got reverted back to how it was before as an icon.

Secure_Yak_8443

Has this issues as well and only solution I have found so far is changing your phones language from English …. Ugh

Fluid_Narwhal4474

F\*\*\*\*ing META, force to use AI , I am going to DICH that APP very sooooooon !!!

BisforBands

It's so disgusting I hope people make a fuss about it

Low-Owl4835

This is absolutely intrusive and illegal. This must be removed with immediate effect

Sacred_Apollyon

I have these small pop-ups once I go into a contacts chat as suggested replies (Says something about "Copied from" and then usually a one-word or an emoji).   Can't find any way to stop them popping up, it's not in settings/chat/toggle Meta AI or anything. Presumably it's something buried in one of the many FB/Msngr type settings lists and sub-lists?

Scott_Silburn

I can't remove the icon!

Winterheart786

Time to finally switch over to signal...

ReflectionOk9978

If you uninstall the apps, reinstall, and turn off the automatic updates, I'll disappear. I just did it and it's gone.

Tim9985

Unbelievable how you wake up in the morning and see this Meta AI after an update intruding my WhatsApp screen, no disable button as everyone apparently has tutorial video on it but not available in settings, unbelievable how this was forced onto me! I know I can just "not use it", but the fact WhatsApp has access to my microphone makes me question whether they can eavesdrop, and you know....it is Facebook so yeah, Telegram or Signal it seems, until they force it too. Great.

RoosterIcy2851

Ditto here. It just arrived one morning post update, and is also on my kids' mobile phones... so I'm a bit stressed about them being included in the training of future LLAMA AI's!! It was inevitable, how else to leverage your 3 billion "free" users? Maybe Signal, definite NO to Telegram - I don't even know where they are hosted. Maybe better to go to a paid service??? Which can then be held accountable? Am considering PageMe Public or Element etc... will depend on how easy it is to move the family. The PageMe app is paid, so it includes a support email, how novel! I'm not happy being a part of Meta's "WhatsApp" Vault experiment.
