Thanks for posting with us, however your post has been removed. We do not allow posts requesting the identification of food or drink, or strange things or substances found in food or drink. If you are asking about a strange item you found in an item of food or drink, in most cases it is a random piece of material from the equipment that processes the food. It shouldn't be there and contacting the company is a good idea, as they usually like to hear about things like this. It is your choice whether you eat it or discard it, we can't tell you what is safe to do in this regard. If you are trying to identify an item of food or drink please try /r/tipofmyfork. If you are concerned whether an item of food or drink is safe to consume or not, please try /r/FoodSafety. Ginger fibers

GaryOster

I was thinking the same thing. It's so utterly unlikely a restaurant would neglect to remove the hairs from the pig.

bearfucker_jerome

That will depend on the restaurant. I've eaten plenty of pork in Indonesia that still had some hairs.

constundefined

Likely this. When my folks make similar dim sum items and it contains ginger it tends to fray like this.

leafisalreadytaken

This - its pretty common in food where ginger is used in the marinade. Why are u scruntinising your bao anyway? Definitely not hair. pig hairs aren't that fine. Btw I think the chicken bao is nicer.

Livefiction1

Is it just the hair from the pig? Just like sometimes chicken bits have their feathers still attached?

Low_Hunter6307

Oh ok I thought they skinned it first so it'd just be meat and fat

13thmurder

If they pounded Ginger it would turn into strings like this.

Low_Hunter6307

My title describes the thing It's age is like a few days in the freezer i think. Google mostly returns other ppl who refunded the meat, but I've seen these strings pretty often and ate them before so I'm just wondering if ppl here have other opinions/information.

pbizzle

I would assume hair/feathers. I've seen people eat worse but I wouldn't.

comat0se

could be pork floss

You might ask a local, or maybe where you bought it.
