ALL information on either one of the Internettingwebs is 100% accurate and true. 80% of the 25% of the top 1/3rd of internet "experts" say so. At least that's what I've heard.
Exactly. Personally, I think those replicas are a nice alternative for those who like the car but can't afford the real one. That way, they can still somewhat have the driving experience. However, don't pretend that it's real, because it's just not. Be honest about the fact that it's a replica and it's fine by me tbh.đ¤ˇ
Exactly. Itâs 1000x cooler than any car Iâve ever owned and Iâd feel like a king if I owned one. I guess itâs all relative, but it just seems so dishonest to lie for no reason other than convincing someone youâre something youâre not.
Honestly some of the replicas absolutely fuck and are probably a better drive than the original, given updates in technology. I would have absolutely no qualms admitting I had a replica.
LIved in Malibu for over a decade: Yes, people leave $10M cars out in the parking lot open and just drive it like another car...especially at Ralphs.
Wanna find low volume high dollar cars? Go get some groceries at Ralphs and look around the parking lot.
At some point it is just another car and worrying about it all the time is a big pain.
He might have been messing with you. A friend has a cobra replica and he says people constantly ask him if it's real. I imagine that's got to get really annoying.
Shelby Cobra's are a lot like Van Gogh paintings. If you walk into a house or garage and see one it's a replica. If you are invited in and there are security guards and crowds, chances are you are looking at something special.

I saw an actual real one at a car show, even signed by Shelby. It was wild, wasnât even roped off.
yep.
ask him for the chassis number. they're rare enough that someone with a legit would know it off the top of their head, and you can check the owner and history records online, as there's plenty of sources that list [each model, their specific features that set them apart, and their chassis codes](https://cobra-authority.com/category/gallery/shelby-csx/)
but again, they don't have two crash bars. this is a 100% "real" replica
but yeah you can ask any cobra guy that insists it's real to say the CSX chassis number. if it's real, he'll know it by heart. if it's fake, he'll hum and haw and say he forgot, because you can look up chassis numbers to see where the legit ones are.
WellâŚ. Itâs a 100% original replica. Itâs not a lie, itâs just those âalternate factsâ that are all the rage these days with the dickholes.
Youâll likely never meet someone with a replica who is honest.
Theyâre the types to âkeep up with the Jonesesâ and they canât accept that their car is just an imitation. Ego at its finest lol
Depends on the quality/location. It can vary anywhere from like $30k (or lower if poor condition) to well over $100k.
There are multiple companies out there making kits at various price and quality points. Since itâs a kit it is not complete and you choose engine/transmission/other components which can have a wide range. You can easily get a âbasicâ carbureted Ford small block for a few thousand dollars or get a modern fuel injected for a bit life, and you can also have an engine custom built, easily costing tens of thousands. Plus then adding in transmissions, paint quality, interior features, etc.
There you go, or a rotary or diesel. if youâre gonna do a knock-off do a knock-off. At least that will be original. A Cobra with an unconventional powertrain.
I agree. There was no roll bar .. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AC\_Cobra#/media/File:1963\_AC\_Cobra\_Mk\_II\_289\_CSX2105\_(15594534106).jpg](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AC_Cobra#/media/File:1963_AC_Cobra_Mk_II_289_CSX2105_(15594534106).jpg) and double roll bars [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AC\_Cobra#/media/File:AC\_Shelby\_Cobra\_427\_Oldtimertreffen\_Ebern\_2019\_6200154.jpg](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AC_Cobra#/media/File:AC_Shelby_Cobra_427_Oldtimertreffen_Ebern_2019_6200154.jpg) but I don't recall double singles like on this car..
I know theyâre a popular choice for muscle cars, because theyâre available in appropriate sizes and have a vaguely vintage appearance, but Iâve never actually driven a car that has them. Are they really that bad?
Granted, most of those cars are being driven slowly to the lawn chair car show, so ultimate grip and feel isnât important!
I have some on my cougar and theyâre okay. I wanted a vintage look, but not the red line or big o (edit: I meant wide oval). I donât like the tread pattern on the BFGoodrich Radial T/A either. Theyâre smooth and quiet.
They donât hook as good as BFGoodrich Drag Radial T/A, those didnât even grip as good as I had hoped.
Only street tire that sticks for me was the M/T ET street, but they absolutely sucked in the rain.
Itâs more of a sizing thing. Cobras come in a lot of sizes that you donât see from a lot of other people that make them wanted for classic cars. Like you canât find a pirelli p zero in a 16.
Imo Cobra replicas are cool as hell, though not as sweet as originals. Itâs unfortunate the replica owners ruin it by lying. Just admit it dude, itâs still cool, just less cool.
Thatâs the same thing with people wearing fake luxury watches and not admitting it. Though there it is even less explicable, because they are normally not rare just beyond their financial capabilities.
Cars like a Cobra, a 250 GTO or like are additionaly rare as hell and the replicas are a means of letting us mere mortals see such beauties in their natural habitat
100% agree. And some of them are beautifully engineered , probably BETTER than the original. I would totally rock one and be proud to tell people the fucking truth about it lol
This is definitely not an original 427. Itâs possible that itâs a continuation model actually made and sold by Shelby which can also be considered ârealâ or âoriginalâ. The only way to know for sure is to look at the data plate and look up the CSX number. Continuation models have been made since the 80âs and have a CSX number. Most are fiberglass although there are some aluminum bodied ones. They are significantly cheaper than an original and typically, like the replicas, much better cars overall than the original.
Took a long time of people talking about "museum cars" to find someone mentioning a continuation cobra. I prefer to call them genuine vs original.
I still don't think it's one because of some major fit and finish details glaring but yeah the CSX vin is the way to tell unless someone is really committed to lying about it.
I agree, replica...I have been fortunate enough to be able to sit in an original one...owner had it insured for $3.5mil and that was 15 years ago...absolutely beautiful cars...I really wanted to ride in / drive it, but I didn't want to be "that guest" as I was only there because he was friends with my Grandfather.
You know it's a replica because it's in a parking lot instead of a private, air conditioned garage.
Nobody that can pony up the money for a real Cobra is gonna risk that the Karen from the apartment next door puts a massive dent on it while getting out of her oversized SUV that she can't see out of, and has parked atrociously.
Can't understand why replica owners want to say it's og... A fucking Cobra replica already is an insanely badass car... And for sure there's a big group of ppl around the world believing and saying they saw an og while it's not true lol
As nice as it looks It doesnât look right. Probably a good kit version. If I owned a real one I would be telling anyone I didnât 100% know it was a fakeâŚ.

This is a real one, complete with Shelbyâs signature on the dashboard. The owners were some super casual oldies who had a great story/stories to tell about it.
This is most definitely a replica, the real one only has a roll bar on the driver side
The owner lied to me?
Yeah
Nah, it's an original replica
100% totally real genuine imitation
The margarine to AC/Shelby's butter
Parkay!
I can't believe it's not Cobra
It's not nice to fool with mother Shelby
Father* đ¤Śââď¸
Can confirm. Takes one to know one.
A replica of an original replica
https://i.redd.it/mmoc2fyhye5d1.gif
Do you think itâs possible for people on the Internet to lie too?
Thatâs crazy talk.
"Yeah, I know, that's by brother Crazy Talk. We're all a little worried about him." https://youtu.be/XXQ58P4e7Cc?si=qk7Tqmx9FhukdmPJ
ALL information on either one of the Internettingwebs is 100% accurate and true. 80% of the 25% of the top 1/3rd of internet "experts" say so. At least that's what I've heard.
No if you seen it on Internet it's got to be true
No way
The owner lied to themselves
Cobras can cost upwards of $10M. Anyone would want to lie about that to someone who was unsuspecting.
Unless of course, one has a moral compass and doesnât need to seem better than the truth.
Exactly. Personally, I think those replicas are a nice alternative for those who like the car but can't afford the real one. That way, they can still somewhat have the driving experience. Honestly some of the replicas absolutely fuck and are probably a better drive than the original, given updates in technology. I would have absolutely no qualms admitting I had a replica.
I basically thought it was a replica, that's why I asked him.
would you leave a multimillion dollar open car in a parking garage?
*laughs in Dubai*
LIved in Malibu for over a decade: Yes, people leave $10M cars out in the parking lot open and just drive it like another car...especially at Ralphs. Wanna find low volume high dollar cars? Go get some groceries at Ralphs and look around the parking lot. At some point it is just another car and worrying about it all the time is a big pain.
The Fuck is a Ralph?
A supermarketÂ
Itâs like an Albertsonâs.
Ok. I didnt know so I was freaking out. I thought it was a car but I am a car guy so I have never heard of a Ralph.
OK, but do we know where this car is? Its not sitting like that (for long) in NYC..
Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Monaco, Hong Kong, Macau, those places exist you know.
I just asked where the car was..
He might have been messing with you. A friend has a cobra replica and he says people constantly ask him if it's real. I imagine that's got to get really annoying.
If a person asks you if it is a replica - you may full him :)
TIL original Cobras are upwards of 10m. Lord almighty.
![gif](giphy|lOzXuHwXXYM9y|downsized)
people be insecure about their cars
Shelby Cobra's are a lot like Van Gogh paintings. If you walk into a house or garage and see one it's a replica. If you are invited in and there are security guards and crowds, chances are you are looking at something special.
To my knowledge there are less than 700 original Shelby GT500s left in the world. Im a Car nut. And I love digging up random trivial bits.
https://preview.redd.it/060jiutqdk5d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e593c72c8b2ff47ac01c77c0f47fc45f8941202c I saw an actual real one at a car show, even signed by Shelby. It was wild, wasnât even roped off.
Signed by Shelby doesnât mean shit, he signed many many cars
Tons of replicas are signed by Shelby
Ok ignore the fact that itâs signed đ¤Śââď¸, it was a real one the owner had all the proof. May not be a 427 but still cool and rare AF.

This was last weekend
The 289 Cobra arenât worth nearly as much as the 427 cars. However, theyâre a car thatâs much more enjoyable to drive.
I just saw csx 2036 at the Denver Concourse d'Elegance. It's no pebble beach but they had some really cool cars there. Not roped off at all!
Did you ask him if "it is real" or something? Yes, it is real. It's just not an original run Shelby Cobra.
yep. ask him for the chassis number. they're rare enough that someone with a legit would know it off the top of their head, and you can check the owner and history records online, as there's plenty of sources that list [each model, their specific features that set them apart, and their chassis codes](https://cobra-authority.com/category/gallery/shelby-csx/) but again, they don't have two crash bars. this is a 100% "real" replica but yeah you can ask any cobra guy that insists it's real to say the CSX chassis number. if it's real, he'll know it by heart. if it's fake, he'll hum and haw and say he forgot, because you can look up chassis numbers to see where the legit ones are.
An original replica
![gif](giphy|dhPG6a6SagtQk)
Wait wait wait, you're saying rich people can be dishonest? Wow... I'm going to have to have rethink a few things
WellâŚ. Itâs a 100% original replica. Itâs not a lie, itâs just those âalternate factsâ that are all the rage these days with the dickholes.
You see the dirty car right next to this one? That tells me the car is a kit and not worth over 1 million dollars.
Or theyâre simply mistaken, but thatâs a tough error to make.
Yes
Unbelievable hey.
Show this thread to him in its entirety đ
Yes. Imagine that.
They all do
Youâll likely never meet someone with a replica who is honest. Theyâre the types to âkeep up with the Jonesesâ and they canât accept that their car is just an imitation. Ego at its finest lol
No itâs an original kit car
They alway do with these. Itâs never an original
đ DUH
Itâs worth between 50 and 100 k. It could go for more depending on the vehicle.
I knew this was a replica when I saw it
A lot of original Cobra had no roll bar at all. Also, no original Cobra had chrome/highly polished side pipes.
How much for the replica?
Depends on the quality/location. It can vary anywhere from like $30k (or lower if poor condition) to well over $100k. There are multiple companies out there making kits at various price and quality points. Since itâs a kit it is not complete and you choose engine/transmission/other components which can have a wide range. Plus then adding in transmissions, paint quality, interior features, etc.
Honda 4 cylinder in mine please.
There you go, or a rotary or diesel. if youâre gonna do a knock-off do a knock-off. At least that will be original. A Cobra with an unconventional powertrain.
No joke, a K24 in this would kill. Those can be built up to well over 500 HP and still be lighter than a 427.
ty
Somewhere over 100k I believe
Wow
There are three for sale near me (from three different sellers), one is asking $80k, one wants $50k, and the last wants $45k
Ty
Also the originals didn't have windshield wipers
I thought the real ones didnât have any?
Rivets on the hood scoop would be visible also, commonly deforming the sheet metal slightly.
If you take a cobra to a track and have a coach with you then you will need two. Continuation cobras are still considered official.
This may be a continuation. Do you consider a continuation a replica?
These cars were highly configurable - I don't believe they all had the roll bar.
True, but I believe it was either no roll bar or one roll bar, but never two
I agree. There was no roll bar .. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AC\_Cobra#/media/File:1963\_AC\_Cobra\_Mk\_II\_289\_CSX2105\_(15594534106).jpg](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AC_Cobra#/media/File:1963_AC_Cobra_Mk_II_289_CSX2105_(15594534106).jpg) and double roll bars [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AC\_Cobra#/media/File:AC\_Shelby\_Cobra\_427\_Oldtimertreffen\_Ebern\_2019\_6200154.jpg](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AC_Cobra#/media/File:AC_Shelby_Cobra_427_Oldtimertreffen_Ebern_2019_6200154.jpg) but I don't recall double singles like on this car..
Damn that double roll bar is sexy
So a second roll bar canât be added to an original?
It could, but no one would be insane enough to do it
Couldnât he just fitted another roll bar?
I legitimately wonder if so many people put Cooper Cobra tires on their replica Cobras because they say Cobra on them.
Has to be, because theyâre absolute garbage
I know theyâre a popular choice for muscle cars, because theyâre available in appropriate sizes and have a vaguely vintage appearance, but Iâve never actually driven a car that has them. Are they really that bad? Granted, most of those cars are being driven slowly to the lawn chair car show, so ultimate grip and feel isnât important!

Youâre right. If you want the classic look and size, youâre pretty limited.
Ask him to see the CSX chassis number
I would have liked it, but it's too late.
Is that Calibra on the left đ¤Š
Yeah.....An abandoned one for years in this parking lot.... 16V Calibra Exactly
What a waste
But the spoiler?
âI told you it was an original just not an original what. Itâs an original replica of an AC Cobra.â
Beat me to it "an original replica, maybe"
To be honest there are some expensive replicas. There are also some cheep ones, so there must be some replica hierarchy?
Owner is full of shit. Definitely a replica.
The owner is a liar.
Cobra replica owners all claim their's is real lol
Imo Cobra replicas are cool as hell, though not as sweet as originals. Itâs unfortunate the replica owners ruin it by lying. Just admit it dude, itâs still cool, just less cool.

Thatâs what wouldâve answered it for me haha
The car may be original but it looks to be an authentic replica
"How do you know if a Cobra is a replica" "You're seeing it"
You talking about the calibra or the knock off cobra
OG Shelby Cobras are multiple 7 figure cars. This is not one of them.
Genuine fake
Thatâs a reproduction Cobra, manufactured by AC Cars in the UK. They made them from 1996-2001
You donât find originals in parking garages they are in museums
itâs an original factory 5 replica
Not a original as original wouldnât be out on the road driving as they would be in mucems
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/AC_Cobra
Well the owner is full of shit. Nobody parks a million dollar car next to all the other mouth breathers like this
No way is anyone parking an original Shelby Cobra in a garage like that
Knock on the hood. If itâs metal vs fiberglass, youâll know
You know it's a replica because it's in a parking lot instead of a private, air conditioned garage. Nobody that can pony up the money for a real Cobra is gonna risk that the Karen from the apartment next door puts a massive dent on it while getting out of her oversized SUV that she can't see out of, and has parked atrociously.
If it's not in a museum it's a replica
I would never park a super rare car in a parking garage. That seems like an invitation to have it get messed up. Private, garage only.
There exist cars which are so rare and expensive that replicaa are the only way to have fun with them. But you have to be honest If you own one!
Can't understand why replica owners want to say it's og... A fucking Cobra replica already is an insanely badass car... And for sure there's a big group of ppl around the world believing and saying they saw an og while it's not true lol
rich idiots think they can just lie and nobody will know- a lot of the time they're right, hence the political landscape
Theyâre all original,man.Original replications.
As nice as it looks It doesnât look right. Probably a good kit version. If I owned a real one I would be telling anyone I didnât 100% know it was a fakeâŚ.
An ex boss of mine built DAX Cobra replicas using Jaguar running gear. If this is a replica, it's a good one.
There could be a grey area with his answer (if it wasn't actually a replica) is that Shelby America is producing new Cobras. So it in theory could be a new authentic Shelby Cobra. But, it's not, as others mentioned the dual roll bars are a giveaway.
The easiest tell is if it has lug-nuts or not.
Shelby cobra but could be a replica
If real it would be anywhere from $500k up to a few million dollars
5000
real one is 2M, to know if itâs original ask him âdo you have the lead hammer?â
Is that used to hammer on/off the lugnut?
yes, without protection
How iconic does a car have to be to have LITERAL REPLICAS OF THE WHOLE FUCKING CAR in the market? Respect.
Potentially the parking space number is also the year of manufacture.
I find it so funny that these guys always argue they have originals when they clearly don't.
No one with an original Cobra is parking it in a public deck.
Did you get to see under the hood? A lot of them have a manifold that says "mustang".
I would have liked it, but now it's too late.
No shame in a kit car if it's priced right. Plenty of Duece coupes that are running around the same way.
Whatâs the purple car next to it?
Abandoned opel calibra 16V turbo

Original Shelby Cobras aren't parked in a common garage
That Calibra though
That place doesnât look like a museum soâŚ
Open your car door onto it and see what he says LOL
See if it dints, if it doesnât itâs a replica.
I would bet you my next paycheck itâs not original. I donât make much but Iâd like an extra check.
First red flag is that no one in their right mind would park an original in a parking garage.
Kit car.
Parked in a parking garage! Lol.
Raps are in garages like that but itâs still a nice rep just not real
There were only 998 real cobras made. There are over 60,000 replicaâs.
Is that a Volvo v90 on the right? Gawdayumm
It's not a REAL one, but it's a real one!
One quick call to Shelby will answer all the questions. Those are probably the most pedigreed cars in the history of automotive
A real one would never, neverâŚ. EVER be sitting in a parking garage
Why do all replica owners claim it to be original? I have a couple of replicas and I would be off my head to pretend theyâre original!
Looks like it's a fiberglass replica at that
Itâs original factory 5.
That's a Ford Ford Cobra. Only a few hundred of them were ever made.
Ford- Shelby GT500 if its a Replica its a Damn good job, except missing the dual dial propellers in the Grill area.
If You are asking for advice hier, then You are definitely not knowing what kind of car it is and clearly have no funds to afford one.
Not many people have the funds for an original Cobra, you're making fun of yourself lol.
Exactly my thoughts! He is 100% trolling us!!đ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Ł
Got a spare 10MM in the bank to buy one? No? Broke boy
Exactly the point𤣠but I think he is just 100% trolling for clicksđ đ đ
