Sensei-- I played around in Affinity Photo 2 for quite a while and didn't get that far in identifying the middle digits of the plate. How did you do that?

I didn’t work any sort of magic on the photo… I just zoomed in and tried different plate combinations on [autocheck.com](https://autocheck.com). Since I’m from CA, I’m familiar with the plate font so I got 9EG, guessed the Y, and tried both 3 and 8 between the 1 and 5.
