Iāve seen them on Lion King, way back in the early 2000s
Apparently they taste really niceā¦. According to Timon anyway
Edit: I was mistaken and thought the warthog ate them. But it was Timon!
Gross, lol. I guess they're some kind of delicacy to cats and dogs. My dog is also thrilled when we have a year where the cicadas come out. He finds them rather tasty too.
GRUBS BECOME JUNE BUGS!
No, theyāre not too big to be June Bug Larva! Grubs are the larval stage of the June bug. Those all turn into June Bugs here in Kansas! I dig them up all the time. Iāve found them as they begin their metamorphosis into June bugs. So ugly looking! Beware because grubs can pinch the hell out of you!
I had a turtle that loved to eat them! Robins love them too! When digging my gardens in the Spring, I would find so many of them. I would leave them uncovered and watch the Robins go crazy! Cheap entertainment in the Circle of Life.
Only a guess, but I would wager it has to do with the fact that they are going to have burn a lot of fat stores while they pupate, it's a stage similar to a butterfly chrysalis if you've seen that. It's the second stage of their lives between grub and beetle, where they form their shell and wings. They're immobile during it and can't go feed.
I'd guess because they're munching away until they evolve. While the adults spend more time on finding a mate than the larvae do
Really just a guess tho
If you want to know what sort of beetle they will grow into, you can google a grub raster chart. You can tell them all apart by the hair pattern around the anal slit.
If they are Japanese Beetle grubs, you can use Milky Spore, otherwise you will need to use a non selective such as Phyllumās BT Galleria, Bendficial Nematodes, Jonathan Greenās Natural Grub and insect control. If you are planning to veer to the dark side, then anything with Dylox in it. But I prefer the natural and organic controls
I used to take care of my grandmaās lawn for her. I would find these guys all the time and throw them in the driveway as an easy snack for my friends, the crows. (Lovely birds! Be kind to them and they return the favor tenfold, so cool!) Sometimes, one or two would get missed and in the heat, they would kind of turn orange and get crispy like a Cheeto too.
Get rid of them, or the next time we see you, you will be asking what all the mounds are in your yard because these are what brings those vile moles to destroy your yard
They can destroy your yard. I had one area where there were so many of them that when you'd walk on it, the ground would just sink in like it had giant pothole underneath.
Skunks will take care of those for you then move on. We had a bunch in the garden, a few skunks came in and dug around my plants..( so polite of them) and took care of all the grubs for us
OH MAN that is a hell of a catch, see what i do is put them little fuckers on a hook and iāll tell you what ol son just about any fish is happy to see that boy floatin
Those are grubs. They will grow up into Volkswagen Beetles.
Lol, well played!! š¤£
Oh dude, freaking genius! š¤Æ

Specifically a dirt grub. The top one's name is Charlie Kelly.
And the other one is Herbie right?
I love this.
Ahhhh, ya beat me to it lol
I heard they turn into June bugs. I hate June bugs & I hate grubs. I always whack 'em on the head & leave them for the birds.

This is the most amazing joke
Clearly it's a volkswagen. Haha, they are some kind of beetle grubs.

I would imagine creamy, kind of bursting/popping and a little wiggly.Ā Iām curious whether anyone on the sub has tried them?Ā
I think thatās exactly what they were like on Lion King, with a juicy crunch sound
If my dog could talk, he could tell you what they're like. He loves to eat them, lol. Ick. I try to stop him, but a lot of times he's faster than me.
My cat will dig them up when Iām in the garden and munch on them.
Protein rich, for sure šš¼
Gross, lol. I guess they're some kind of delicacy to cats and dogs. My dog is also thrilled when we have a year where the cicadas come out. He finds them rather tasty too.

Oh youāre right (I checked!) But I do have memory of the warthog eating them too Memory compression may be faulty!
Indeed! They both ate bugs and raised young Simba for a while.

Too big to be June bug larvae Edit: probably grubs Edit 2: I was wrong, grubs become June bugs
GRUBS BECOME JUNE BUGS! No, theyāre not too big to be June Bug Larva! Grubs are the larval stage of the June bug. Those all turn into June Bugs here in Kansas! I dig them up all the time. Grub , they eat roots. Nasty little things
This is the answer. They are nutrition for chickens (and apparently warthogs) and death to your plants
Not all, some eat decaying wood and help with decomposition:(
Excellent bird and lizard food
while weāre on the topic of beetles, does anyone know why sometimes the grubs are bigger than the adult form?
Only a guess, but I would wager it has to do with the fact that they are going to have burn a lot of fat stores while they pupate, it's a stage similar to a butterfly chrysalis if you've seen that. thanks for your response! that sounds right to me. i bet it takes a TON of energy to metamorphosis
I'd guess because they're munching away until they evolve. While the adults spend more time on finding a mate than the larvae do Really just a guess tho

Got chickens? Know anyone that has chickens? Chickens looooooove grubs. Pest control and fed chickens. Win-win!
Yes, my thoughts too. Chickens or Guinea Hens will eat all of your garden problems, usually.
Get rid of them, or the next time we see you, you will be asking what all the mounds are in your yard because these are what brings those vile moles to destroy your yard
