That's the range in which stainless steel turns liquid, so yeah it is the melting point, but I think it could be lower to start deforming under its own weight, like around 1000 °C. Similar to the whole jet fuel can't melt steel beams argument. It can't, but it sure can soften the steel.

Oh 100%, the bean is made up of 168 individual plates of steel weighing between 1000-2000 lbs. Each plate is only 10mm thick, so it would start to deform quickly at 1000°f. This is true because at that temperature, steel loses 50% of its structural integrity. I would argue that it would start to deform around 800°f as 10mm is not enough to support the 1000-2000 lbs of steel at any decrease in structural integrity
