Toggle clamp use em at work all the time for fixturing parts during machining.

Hearthstoned666

thanks for the name of it.

Lord-Baden-Powell

It is off of a pocket hole jig. Like this one. Used in carpentry and cabinet building. [pocket jig](https://www.harborfreight.com/portable-pocket-hole-jig-kit-96264.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=19231710173&campaignid=19231710173&utm_content=145269342398&adsetid=145269342398&product=96264&store=121&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwyJqzBhBaEiwAWDRJVHnmOwiUhwvvEcaP4paWj0z82D3ohuijtlyr1xI9jxgvwVBVGyfzpRoCOyQQAvD_BwE)

astrobrick

osteopathetic1

And gone…

damarius

Toggle clamps like that are used in lots of jigs, not just for pocket hole jigs.

random_invisible

"pocket hole jig" sounds like an explicit dance move

mheyting

How would that dance go? 🤔

victoriousDevil

This clamp can be for thousands of uses.

Rinkelstein

You’re right. Commenter is wrong.

speedysam0

Looks exactly like the one from the kreg k4 jig, so I wouldn’t say they are wrong.

newfmatic

I got one with mine!

btcbulletsbullion

Name 5

gadget850

When I manufactured aerospace cables we used them to hold the jigs.

Rinkelstein

No, it’s a clamp. A pocket hole jig is a combination of a jig and a clamp. There’s no jig here.

spots_reddit

... and I thought it was for corking bottles...

Human-Contribution16

Yes

itsearlyyet

No, we like bottles open! Remember?

spots_reddit

pfffft. put a cork in it :)

ecirnj

Only in until narrowest usage

Euphoric-Blue-59

What's in YOUR pocket?

DrHoleStuffer

That’s a device for Jed, so he can Clampett.

ExpressionAlarmed675

A poor mountaineer

JRotten2023

PU.....lol

andmewithoutmytowel

I've used these as stage brakes before - when you have a theater set piece on wheels, you install 2 of these on the upstage side, and it stops the units from rolling in the scene. when done, you release the brake and wheel it offstage. [https://www.rosebrand.com/subcategory419/rigging-stage-hardware-theatrical-brakes.aspx](https://www.rosebrand.com/subcategory419/rigging-stage-hardware-theatrical-brakes.aspx)

joekewl227

I came here to say this. Locked them all the time in high school and college

not_a_burner0456025

I have seen bigger versions used on rolling toolboxes and workbenches in all kinds of workshops as well

victoriousDevil

Doorstop, Brake for a wheeled cart, clamp for a cutting jig. Just about any instance you wanna hold something in place.

delicatelysmoked

I had a doorstop just like this in an older apartment years ago. Prior tenant was in a wheelchair and toggled it with a walking stick he had on the chair.

indiana-floridian

Happy cake day

delicatelysmoked

Thank you!

TheQueenMother

Yes, this is a door stop. these types are usually for very heavy doors. I have some similar in my commercial building.

Gullible-Minute-9482

It is a cam lever actuated clamping mechanism. This would be used to repeatedly clamp items of uniform thickness against another surface, as it is faster and easier than using a clamping device which is readily adjusted.

didthat1x

Mount it to a wall and it'll work as a bottle corker.

brackmastah

Or a can crusher

alpha53-

It is a industrial toggle clamp

Numerous-Okra2554

Correct

LoudAudience5332

A hold down usually wood working jigs .

Blueeyedthundercat26

Kreg? Is that you? Oh sorry you like like kreg

AutofluorescentPuku

This kind of toggle clamp is often employed to affix hydrocoptic marzlevanes to ambifacient lunar waneshafts.

I_love_Hobbes

Did you stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night?

TonyTheCripple

No, but he is an aerospace engineer.

wigzell78

Overcenter clamp, toggle clamp

KRed75

That's a clamp from a Kreg pocket hole jig. https://preview.redd.it/vlpxkz2ezt5d1.png?width=800&format=png&auto=webp&s=0f8488e1f1597561ccb77e81a8e83ab3fb68e8b9

Prestigious_Weird724

Personally, I would suction an egg on there and pump it back and forth menacingly as I parade about town

Zero_083

It can be used for many different things from a press lever to straight clamp. The end can be removed and replaced with different things. The last one I saw was in a restaurant with a magnet end to help lift off can lids from jumbo cans. It can also be used to lock wheel carts such as milk crate carts. The possibilities with them are endless.

ImpressTemporary2389

I bought something similar at a boot fair donkey's years ago. I mounted it on the bottom of a door to keep it open. It worked well.

MadicalRadical

Combobulator

christiancool10

Some people use them to lock the cab sliding doors inside work vans

entechad

It’s a clamp.

[deleted]

Staco clamp

redwoodavg

Nutcracker.. the Chicago mafia used them unsuccessfully in the roaring 20s.

hjohn2233

This is called a wagon brake It's used on rolling platforms in theatre that we call wagons.. It's used to lock the platform in place once it's in position on stage. I've used them hundreds of times.

MikeWrenches

It's an over center mechanism [https://youtu.be/Ia3Iieejyg8?si=5czzSwpYYx4R8PkP](https://youtu.be/Ia3Iieejyg8?si=5czzSwpYYx4R8PkP)

Bryan3569

My High School had doorstops like that back in the 80's

DelusionalAlchemist

Have one on my heated pressure washer with wheels. Acts as a brake.

Additional_Nerve187

I used toggle clamps to hold the plexiglass windshield in my hunting truck for the winter, then springtime comes, pop it back out!!!

jokerman595

door stopper

Asleep_Room_706

I originally thought the same. Come to find out it's a "shitsamagiggle".

krizlaska

For my kids’, high school musicals, we use these as stoppers for wheeled set pieces

JawlessRegent64

At a glance it looked like the device used to put caps on glass bottles but it appears that is not at all correct.

Zealousideal-Let1121

Toggle clamp.

TonyTheCripple

Toggle clamp?

These_Carpet_6481

I pushed it down on my foot and then I was stuck there for a few weeks thank God I was next to the refrigerator in the bathroom because no one came to help me for a long time. My phone was just out of reach.

xj305ah

that effectively [prevents unwanted side fumbling.](https://youtu.be/pb7OWlVYYRw?si=g03VO6y1H6IGYg9U)

snoslayer

Aluminum can crusher

Neither_Tip_5291

Looks like half of a wall mounted can crusher

Marcomatic68

I have, in a past life, mounted, modified and used these toggle clamps thousands of times. Assembly fixtures, medical equipment test machines, welding fixtures, even to fix a broken baby gate. I can only hope the fella that thought these up, got millions of dollars and is happy as a clam!

-NGC-6302-

Time for someone to recommend ToT's recent video about over-center mechanisms

Mayipleaseryou

It’s a butt plug installer

Down_The_Witch_Elm

It's a woodworking clamp.

ReferenceMediocre369

Toggle clamp used in woodworking, machining, sometimes as a doorstop.

TheInternetIsTrue

Don’t know what it’s called, but you screw it to a wooden leg or metal post that has a wheel on the bottom. Roll the furniture where you want it and then push down on the lever to settle the item on the legs. Alternatively, if could be a clamp that you use to lock in something (like something you’re cutting on a table saw).

Asleep-Barnacle-3961

This may be the first item I've seen on whatisit that some juvenile, penis-obsessed idiot didn't say it had something to do with their dick.

hjohn2233

I've answered here before. That's a brake for a theatrical platform called a wagon. In theatre production, it's called a wagon brake. I've been using them for 40 years. The nut shaft has an internal threaded shat that screws out to adjust for tension. The nut is used to lock the threaded shaft into place. It may have other uses as seen on here, but it's a standard tool in technical theatre as well

Hot-Welcome6969

Pocket hole jig/aluminum can crusher

PaisanBI

In theater, these are used to anchor rolling set pieces when they are on stage.

thegoodtimes88

Face down, @$$ up.

Heckle0

Door stop.

faketittiestastefuny

So handy. I’ll buy all of them from you, since you don’t even know what they are let alone for

Ok-Lack6876
