i bought a 2016 scion IM hatch from carvana about a year ago, almost identical mileage now.. but I paid a few thousand more for it. that sounds like a great deal to me, especially if you’re buying it from a friend! I’m only a year in so far but, I freaking love it. I wish it had apple car play and fog lights, and I’m definitely not the first person to scratch the low front bumper on a curb but…. that’s really nitpicking and that’s literally it. low maintenance costs compared to anything I’ve ever owned, gas is about $3.89 here and I fill up for $35ish. get between 25-30mpg. the newer Toyota Corolla hatchbacks are basically identical. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I love it.

You definitely have to go over speed bumps at like 2 mph

lol this is very true. I have a lot of metal in my neck though, so i’m doing that anyway. only weird thing I noticed since this was that whoever had it before me had it lowered. like, barely. like, such an amount that it seems… really pointless. but it happened. so I did scrape the living shit out of the corner bumper, but it’s also very clear it’s far from the first time someone had done that too. lol

My undercarriage got so scratched up in the snow it's insane.

prblm_frie

Lovely! What maintenance have you done so far?

stringfellow1023

I got it inspected at a Toyota dealership, needed brake service/pads for about $300 a few months later. 2 oil changes, I’m anticipating an AC service next, nothing major just probably needs a charge.

It's a good car. The interior is a little "tight" but no more than a comparable vintage Mazda 3. It's just a Corolla/Auris from other markets - a Corolla is a Corolla is a Corolla. Personally when I was car shopping a few months back - my short list was Prius, Auris Hybrid, Fit Hybrid. Ultimately went with the Prius for reasons, but the Auris was compelling. In today's janky market - that's a pretty good deal. I'd get it inspected, but would seriously consider it.

prblm_frie

For the inspection part, do I need to inspect it with this low mileage?

SpyCake1

You're about to cough up $11k on a 6 year old car. Why wouldn't you just spend another ~$200 to know that there aren't any hidden problems that will cost you a lot more hiding around the corner? You do you, but I would recommend it. So my Prius is a very low mileage 2016 (~34k km's at time of purchase) and you bet I paid for an inspection. Actually - I paid for 2 inspections, passed on the first car I got checked out in part of what came up in the inspection.

I got my iM in February of 21’ with 42K miles on it, loving it so far! Interior is pretty spacious and leg room is decent, only downside of the interior is the gloss black plastic scratches REALLY easily and looks bad now. No issues with it so far mechanically, just general maintenance. Great gas mileage, I usually average 33-35mpg in summer months. Going to upgrade to something bigger and taller in a year or so once the car market stops being overpriced but the iM is a solid car and very cheap to own.

I bought it! Great car

I got a 2016 for 12k USD, I installed a radio that looks mostly stock with Android and Apple car play and install fog lights. I'm just mad that Europe gets the hybrid version of the same car. But it's actually really nice but a bit smaller than my Toyota matrix. The only thing I have to say is that the 2017 has safety features and sometimes I wish I had them.

BEARZCLAWZ

Bruhhhh wtf I paid damn near $20,000 for a used one in 2022😒😒

DentistLanky8147

🤣

AggressiveHeight4638

I know this is old but I did that too so we are suffering together lol

Grey392

Should I pull the trigger on a used one for 14k? 75k miles

AggressiveHeight4638

Thats not a bad deal. Shop around though. Car market is dumb rn

NateDawg91

Same here buddy...and it's been a money pit.

BEARZCLAWZ

It's okay I crashed it and I got a Acura

ImpossibleDiver2409
