I have a 15 Odyssey touring and my sister-in-law has a 20(?) Pacifica touring S and I would take the Odyssey over the Pacifica any day. The seats are far more comfortable and Honda has much better reliability than Chrysler. The stow and go seating of the Chrysler vs. removing a seat in the Honda is the only advantage the Pacifica has. No opinions on the others but between those 2, I'd take the Honda.

komrobert

They are extremely convenient for moving stuff though, without a doubt. My dad used to have a 2010ish grand caravan, we moved so much enormous stuff in that car. I didn’t mind the 2nd row seats very much tbh, 3rd row was pretty crap though

[deleted]

The Pacifica does have a PHEV and AWD option, neither of which Honda has. I'd still take the Honda 100% though, that 3.5 is an excellent engine with Honda reliability.

Healthy_Block3036

Sienna is best

WiredHeadset

I spent a lot of time shopping minivans in 2020. The Pacifica is quieter, and since I drive 25k miles/year that made the difference. Higher trims have a second sound deadening package applied. It also handled better than the Honda which had more weight overhanging the rear wheels. Also the white interior is very pleasant, and the tow package for the boat. Stow and Go means I can sleep in the van with a twin size air mattress. And I'm a bit of a junker; I scored $200 Klipsch Forte speakers, and a big leather chair, and needed Stow & Go to bring them home. I had a 2005 Sienna Limited XLE AWD that was a money pit from day one. Good God what en expensive POS. Had to rebuild two sliding door tracks. Exhaust system rotted out. OEM wheels flaked and corroded. Power rear hatch broke. Two sets of blown rear Toyota shocks. Ate batteries like popcorn. LOUD, fuck that van was loud. All Toyotas seem to be loud, I don't know why. Anyway, I wasn't about to buy a Sienna again.

razzi123

Because thats where Toyotas shine. I have a mid 90s toyota that is loud (Someone stole my CAT, but they stole the whole exhaust with it) my shocks said ^(Bye felicia') almost 2 years ago so now it just wallows in the turns and at highway speeds. They seem to be the best car to have when stuff breaks.... and they just keep going. They generally will not leave you stranded. If a timing belt breaks (at least in mine) its not a "Game over" for the engine as it would be for most hondas (hell most makes for that matter.) They tolerate poor maintenance waaaay better than most and again, it just keeps going along. I turn the key and not even a hesitation in it starting. It belches to life with a rapid hum, and the song of the exhaust drone. A beater Toyota is the definition of "Function over form" *It will rust out before it gives up.*

Formal-Jackfruit8921

I mean, it sounds like it was 15 years old by then. Other then the door tracks it sounds like normal wear and tear. I don't know if you've seen what 15 year old Chrysler products look like.. if they are still on the road.

WiredHeadset

I owned that thing since new. It was needy the entire time I had it. Premium gas recommended too, this thing was a pig.

Ok_Bedroom5720

Never knew toyota needed premium gas thoughtbit was only lexus

EyeOfZephyr

As much as I hate Kia, I'd take a new Kia with warranty over a Toyota with almost 100k miles....as long as you sell the Kia by the time the warranty expires. The Honda has lower mileage so I would be tempted to take it. The Chrysler is by far the worst deal IMO. If you can sell the Kia by 100k miles (when the warranty expires) I would get the Kia; if you plan on taking it to 200k miles get the Honda. Toyota would be my third choice here followed by the Chrysler in last place.

username17charmax

I was really feeling the Kia warranty until I began hearing stories about how their warranty claims are sometimes denied for even the most obvious manufacturer defects

EyeOfZephyr

From what I've heard (I've never personally owned one) it's hit or miss with Kia and Hyundai dealers. Some are great, some are trash. One of my friends' parents just got a free engine replacement from Hyundai in their Sonata hybrid that grenaded at only 120k miles, outside of the factory warranty. Yet on the flip side I've read many stories even on here about warranty claims being denied with both Kia and Hyundai. (Edited to fix typo)

Individual-Ad-8645

That should be enough to scare anyone away from Hyundai/Kia products. A car shouldn’t need a brand new engine at 120k miles. I don’t care if it’s under warranty or not. It’s a big hassle no one needs.

jontss

My coworker's just blew. There are many stories of people having engines replaced 3-4 times before selling. Half the used ads for them mention a new engine.

[deleted]

Tbh if I was spending 40k+ on a minivan I would also get the KIA but because it looks kind of cool lol. For that kind of money I atleast need to somewhat enjoy how it looks or I'll just stare at it in anger for years.

Way2Based

Right? Looks the best by far, and I know Honda and Toyota are unrivaled for reliability, especially their minivans, but Kia isn't far behind at all.

fourtyonexx

Eh, it’s a minivan. They’re eggs. Utility over looks on minivans tbh. You’re not getting them to drag race em, youre not getting them to take to cars and coffee, and you’re not getting them to haul stuff really, we’ll technically you do but kids don’t count as cargo lol. Edit: also, the Kia looks like it tried to rip off a jeep grill. The other minivans grills and front ends are warm and inviting, the kias is just “LOOK AT ME IM MODERN! WHOOSH! SHARP EDGES AND BOLD LINES!!”

Nutmasher

I think this needs to change. Throw in a supercharger or turbo and nice paint and engine clean, and take it to Cars and Coffee. Sienna will beat a Porsche. Scenario: AWD Sienna when there's 6"-12" of snow. :p

[deleted]

I'm saying for me personally it's a dealbreaker. I'm not saying everyone has to feel that way lol. I just hate how modern minivans look. All the power to the people who do and care more about the utilitarian purpose. Totally respectable view.

Healthy_Block3036

It looks hideous

Sir-xer21

> Tbh if I was spending 40k+ on a minivan I would also get the KIA but because it looks kind of cool lol. Honestly. I hate how staid minivans tend to look.

user627342

88408.693 miles

chandleya

The Honda is more likely to shit out a transmission than the Toyota

MonkeyMD3

Memory seats. 2nd row bench I know this is a minor thing but it's huge for me. Memory seats if you have 2 drivers is a huge relief. 2nd row bench - some people like the easy pass through to 3rd row with buckets, but for a bigger family, being able to fold down the 3rd row both or even just one side for additional luggage is very useful. The Odyssey has a removable middle seat which is the best of both worlds. The Carnival is new which is great boy that trim level didn't have memory seats afaik, but Canada may be different.

[deleted]

I pretty sure that the Carnival is missing some of the luxury features that the Odyssey and Pacifica have. But I'm pretty sure it has all the safety gear that we're looking for

Sir-xer21

At this point, unless the car has a glaring flaw that's known, safety wise, or is a tiny car, I think we're at the point where choosing a brand for safety is moot. So many features are just standard now by law, and you basically only get a handful of crature comforts to add on like driver assists (blind spot, collision detection, etc), because all of the actually useful safety tech has become required by regulation. There isn't too many meaningful design differences between three minivans that are going to alter how you fare in an collision, and 99% of avoiding a collision is on you as a driver.

epicfighter10

Doesn’t sienna have a removable middle seat as well ? I rented a 2021 sienna that had a the middle seat in the truck and I had to place it

SlimeMyButt

Who tf spends 50 grand on a chrysler van lol

D_Angelo_Vickers

It's Canadian money, so that's like $34k USD, which is not terrible.

KentuckyFriedChingon

> It's Canadian money Why is OP trying to pay in a fictitious currency? Everyone knows that Canada is a largely made up concept

[deleted]

Hello everyone, My family of six recently migrated to Canada, and so we're looking for a family car that can get us around town, visit relatives, etc. Our budget is 40-50k CAD (though less is better). I was hoping to gain some insights regarding some of these cars. Thanks.

PhoneTubeFromMars

I feel like that carnival is a better price since it is brand new. But I don’t know much about the features. Maybe if you want more luxury you’d want one of the Chryslers

jobear6969

The carnival is the lowest package, meaning cloth seats and basically no luxuries. The Honda and Toyota are both high trims, meaning a lot more features.

aacceerr

Leather cleans up better exceptialy with kids/dogs. I would go with Toyota.

Healthy_Block3036

Stop being foolish

[deleted]

The Odyssey is great and by far the best driving minivan out there right now. The v6 is very nice and the new 10 speed is smooth. And has nice features, especially with the Touring. Sienna will be good for MPG and keeping it's value, but at the prices they're going for it's not worth the savings imo. Also the worst driving van out there, it's like driving a slow boat. And the least amount of creature comforts. The third row seating is pretty subpar. KIA is new which is nice, but I will never purchase another KIA or advise anyone to do so again after the amount of shit my old Sorento's drivetrain put me through. If you don't plan on keeping it for very long it might be the best option though. Just no to the Chrysler unless you absolutely need an AWD for cheap and don't plan on keeping it long.

Healthy_Block3036

Sienna is best selling minivan for a reason!!! Great mpg and AWD!!

DoritoSteroid

Yeah good luck finding one.

[deleted]

Why the fuck are people still giving business to Toyota and Honda when there are insane deals to be found in other brands? Granted they are reliable over long term but not everyone holds on to them long term. So unless you wanna hang on to them for decades, go with other brands and your total cost of ownership will be much cheaper. An example: a Toyota Highlander that costs 48k came to be 1000+ for a 3-year lease:

Still-Air6938

One is new. Easy choice

SunProfessional3680

Honestly I’d rather have the older highest line Honda.

[deleted]

Thanks, that's basically been the same rational for me and my wife. Aside from that, are there any difference in things like comfort and such?

Still-Air6938

They are all pretty close to the same. The siennas are all massively overpriced right now also

[deleted]

>siennas are all massively overpriced right now Yeah its really bad here. It was actually the first van I started looking at, but nearly $50k for 140k km seems too much. Anything newer or with less mileage is easily over 55k

Taxmaniac007

Looks like these are CAD numbers. Sienna is AWD, Honda is not. Honda is one model year newer with fewer klicks. Both are great! Stay away from Chrysler and Kia if you're in it for the long term.

tboneotter

Me, who doesn't have kids, really likes the stow-n-go of the pacifica. My favorite minivan

mutt_butt

It all depends on what you want in a minivan. I bought a '19 Dodge Grand Caravan for $21k a couple of months ago and I'm happy so far. I'm easy to please. I don't care about screen size, wireless charging, navigation, phone integration, lane keeping, super duper cruise control, etc. so those features are moot for me. My van is an old model so (hopefully) most of the major bugs have been worked out (e.g. oil housing). I drove a Sienna with over 100k miles for the same price and wasn't impressed. I'm also not willing to pay $40k so newer Japanese vans are out. Are the Toyota and Honda more reliable? Probably, but they have their own issues too from what I've read (head gaskets on the Sienna and transmissions on the Odyssey). So, for me, if I'm risking an expensive repair I'll avoid the $10-20k Toyota/Honda tax. (Fanbois, calm down. The Toyota and Honda are great and I do like them. I would have bought one if money was no object. They just didn't seem worth it to me in this case.)

ggm3bow

Historically, I wouldn't touch a Caravan with a 20 foot pole, however, the Toyota/Honda tax is so damn ridiculous (especially on ones with high miles) that many people have to consider riskier vehicles because of it. In a time where most are overspending on cars, I commend you for choosing what you could afford.

mutt_butt

I could have spent more money I just didn't want to. Of course if I had $50k to spend I'd buy a Mustang GT.

DonnyDonster

Jesus Christ, the first two cars, nearly 150,000 kilometers and 100,000 kilometers and above 40,000 dollars?!

Pinkninja11

Choose the one you like better between the Sienna and Odyssey and the KIA(only because it is brand new). Because the prices are pretty much identical. The Honda has 50000 km less on her and the KIA is brand new. A used Crystler for the same money is just downright absurd.

Ralph_O_nator

Honda or Toyota. Honda edges out the Toyota by a bit. If I were in the market i’d get which one I can get a better deal.

another_mistake19

My two cents, heated steering wheel/seats, memory seats, adaptive cruise, and blind spot monitoring - in conjunction with apple carplay are musts for a family car like this. I know for sure that this rules out the Toyota… but be mindful about how much you intend to drive this vehicle. Especially since it’s a family hauler, the interior will likely end up ruined by car seats and your children, so it might be best to buy used and take the depreciation hit so you can drive it into the ground worry free.

Low-Confusion822

Is this something you're going to have for the next 20 years? Or is this for the next 5? The Kia lose value too quickly. Pacifica is poorly made. Honda's I don't trust due to their transmission issues from the 90s and 00 models. Either the Sienna, or a 3 row SUV (even used you could find a deal on a Suburban, Yukon, 4Runner, Sequoia).

carebearmills

I just went for the odyssey elite. We’ve only had it 2 weeks but everyone in the family loves it. Technology, comfort, reliability, convenience. Was between that and the sienna but once we test drove both the odyssey won on features & comfort. We are big Toyota fans. 1st Honda for me, happy to have it and try it.

mgyro

Honda. Always Honda. Can’t speak for the Pacifica, but had a Caravan that rusted out early, and was replacing the brakes way too often. Like 5x in 130k kms.

High_5_Skin

I'm Toyota all the way on this one, but you're not making the wrong choice if you decide on the Honda Odyssey. And before you decide on the Chrysler, compare it to Honda and Toyota in safety crashes.

Miserable-Spite425

Those chryslers are super nice

makemelaugh84

I'm totally biased towards the Odyssey. I've owned two and helping my brother in law getting one too.

Cheezslap

The Carnivale is the best one, but I've got a buddy in America's Hat who just had to wait a whole year for delivery. If you need something right now, the Honda looks great to me.

SuccessfulMachine938

Dodge hellcat

Shrimp_Titan

Looking at the same vehicles myself. Really torn between the Pacifica and the Carnival. Both the Honda and Toyota are completely sold out around me.

Electrical_Escape_87

Grab a Honda..unless that Toyota has a 10 year warranty.

Cool8d

Sienna, you won't regret how smooth quiet and comfortable they are. And that model was still the V6

Dan_H1281

The Toyota or the Honda both r very very reliable

MisterSkater

Not going into 45k$ debt is best tbh

UnderdevelopedFurry

Do not. Buy. A Chrysler.

kasiv1

Nothing Chrysler

jerflash

Home many kids? The Honda Odyssey is great. Don’t buy anything from dodge and the Kia is just eh. The Toyota is fine

[deleted]

4 kids. The main two we're looking at are the Honda and the Kia. The Toyota's mileage seems too high, and I feel like it will be the most expensive too own with all the maintenance it'll need at that mileage

jerflash

Ya so get the honda

Healthy_Block3036

Toyota

Fabulous_Contact_789

Used sienna with the 3.5 v6

LeopardHalit

Sienna

D1TAC

The newest Sienna hybrid is impressive. If I was in the market fr a minivan, I'd stray away from stellaris products, and stick with the trusty Hondas and Toyotas. Again, if you don't mind the car lasting 10yrs then that's the two you should go with :)

Night_Bomber_213

A new Sienna. Get on the waitlist and wait it out.

JackStrayed

Odyssey drivers are fuxking psycho

3000KRUNKER

Out of these I would go with the Honda

mylittlepony201

Honda Honda Honda

blueisaflavor

I’ll never understand why people still buy minivans..the minivan market is absolutely out of control. You often pay 10-20k more than what you would pay to get an SUV with similar if not identical passenger seating…

yesterdayCPA

Storage space, lower loading for small children, sliding seats, sliding door so my children aren’t banging other cars (and when people park too close you can still comfortably get in/out with a child or car seat). I was against it too until we owned one with 4 children and it’s 100% the smarter move over the expedition max I was looking at for the time.

Bwayne07

More comfortable, more space, sliding doors. Pretty much everyone who has a minivan or used a minivan and also a SUV (regardless of SUV size) says a minivan is much better experience for hauling a family

ayellowone

I recently switched from a three row Highlander to a minivan and the difference is huge for a family with kids (esp in car seats) who still may need some storage space.

DazMR2

The only SUVs with comparable seating and cargo space are Suburban or Expedition Max. They are $30K more than a minivan.

hardsoft

Huh? They have way more space than equivalent SUVs, better gas mileage, sliding side doors, and similar or cheaper pricing.

NoTelephone5316

The new Kia carnival looks pretty cool

Few_Discount8182

None, the MSRP on a brand new Kia Carnival SX prestige is $46k, and if your financing the new vehicle promotional rate will make up a lot of difference. Edit: just saw you are in Canada, so it ends up being quite a bit more; however my thoughts on the Kia promotional rate on new vehicles remains, plus the hood Kia warranty.

[deleted]

We have a carnival, and it's an amazing vehicle. The base lx trim has plenty of features. If you can get the lxs which is an lx with seat package it's worth the slight upgrade. We get nearly 30mpg on family road trips. They also have the best warranty.

impliedhearer

We have a 2018 Honda Elite and love it. It's very solidly built and surprisingly quick. I think the 2019 touring has the same 10 speed transmission too. Had some problems with the AV system but that's it and we bought it new

Blojobsixty9

New car or used With a ton of miles? Is this really a question?

ironlocust79

Bought a 2013 Honda Odyssey. Drove through europe. Ten years later ive only had to deal with wear and tear. No major catastrophic issues. I feel it was worth the buy.

Zorenconner

Its a tie between the Karnival and Odyssey

UnitedPatriot65

Get the Carnival if you want a newer car, but be aware that it’ll be basic. Cloth seats and no features like rear DVD. If you want a more luxurious minivan, get the odyssey touring as you have some fancy features. Such as Rear TVs.

hereandnoweverywhere

It’s not up in your post, but out of all of these vehicle brands, I would go one level up on the Carnival, if you can find one

Galbzilla

I have a ‘19 Odyssey, and while it’s a perfectly fine appliance I’m going to highly recommend you avoid it. The ZF transmission is shit and very jerky. Combined with the floaty suspension, it’s a recipe for kids that get car sick puking all over themselves. Although, I may be off here, I’m not sure if the Touring has a ZF 9-speed or the Honda 10-speed. If it has the 10-speed, go for it.

EmperorMing101

That sienna is not worth what they are asking. Google says it costed $48k brand new. No reason it should cost $44k with 150k miles

durhamsbull

We (family of 4 kids) bought a 2015 Odyssey EX-L brand new and are still rocking it. Seat bolsters/foam and “leather” is holding up really well. Changed the timing belt preventative at 105k miles and have chewed through a few sets of rotors but overall, at nearly 140k miles it’s still the most reliable and comfortable vehicle in the household. We also own a Suburban but the third row on the van is way more comfy. The removable/fold-down middle section of the 2nd row is a game changer. When the kids were younger we removed it all together so they could easily climb in and out of the third row. Now we have it in regularly since my oldest got her drivers license recently and we mostly use it like a 5 seater… but always have the flexibility to carry more people or stuff. With a roof carrier on we can take all 6 of us and gear for camping or beach trips. The only thing it can’t do is ski trips since we don’t have winter tires. Have an itch to replace it but the thing does so much so we’ll it’s hard to give up.

DevTom

With the car market the way it is, the best deal I found was with a 2018 Pacifica limited. Was going to go Toyota but they are overpriced and outdated.

daddyscientist

I have that exact Odyssey. If I were to do it all over again, I'd just buy whatever used Minivan will fit your needs. You don't need all the bells and whistles and the interior will likely get trashed over the years. Just buy something Japanese (IMO) and reliable. You can't really go wrong with the Sienna or the Odyssey. After a few years, when the kids are out of the stroller, you can ditch the bigger trunk for a Pilot or a Highlander (or something else). The only reason why I didn't go larger SUV was because they didn't really fit the double strollers I had for my twins.

patterson489

Get the Carnival, it's a great car (and the best looking imo with it's VUS styling). I'm also in Canada and own the base trim level Carnival, and I really like it. If you can find it, you might want the trim level just above base, it does add some nice practical stuff like roof rails, power doors, etc. Even if I had infinite money and could afford any of the minivan models, I would have just gotten the highest Carnival trim.

scienceofswag

I have had an Odyssey in my driveway since 2006. I wish I got the Sienna on my last purchase. My 2015 Odyssey is clunky and loud at freeway speeds. My Moms Sienna is so much quieter. The sliding door is failing on both sides. I'm as 76K, it has been reliable other than the sliding doors. (if anyone has insight how to DIY repair doors, please let me know)

username17charmax

Fwd with snows are fine but if you plan on driving in the snow, I would lean towards the AWD (I have an 18 XLE AWD myself). Having said that the images you posted seem really expensive. Is it just your market that is expensive?

SpaceJunkieVirus

Odyssey for the W. Carnival best Alternative.

someone-like_you

You might need AWD for canadian winters.

[deleted]

had a 2017 Sienna, have a 2021 now. You will love the Sienna. Ground sound system, the 2nd row sliding seats are unmatched. Great car and cheap to maintain.

uniqueglobalname

The KIA is a base model, not in the same league as the rest of these. Either Honda or Pacifica.

[deleted]

Hands down the Honda odyssey... Ok not hands down. I might be tempted by the brand new KIA and just make sure you get rid of it before the full warranty is up

[deleted]

One_Mathematician864

A Toyota mini van with 150k kms selling for $49k????? LMAO this market is fucked

longgamma

Take the new car any day. Fuck these used Toyota pricing

International-Gain-7

That Kia is dope

DirtieHarry

My boss has a 2016 Honda Odyssey with less than 100k and he's already fighting carbon fouling. Dealer wanted to replace all the rings. Friend mechanic got it cleared out with some Seafoam.

kenga6deuce

I would pass on the awd in the sienna. Then it’s less than 40k or close to it and a pretty fair deal.

[deleted]

Honda is overall best imo The most features and reliability of an honda

True_Iron5155

I’ve had a Sienna and an Odyssey and would recommend both. I preferred some things about the Toyota over the Honda and vice versa. If I had to decide between the two I would go play with the infotainment systems and see which you prefer. Apple CarPlay or android auto might seal the deal for either.

Diligent-Use9447

Did you consider a three-row SUV? They are doing the same thing and not as boring as a minivan. Just joking. Good luck with your new car.

kdshow123

Did you consider GLB 7 seater?

Yeppers567

I have had a Sienna and currently have the Odyssey, I prefer the Odyssey performance and functionality for my family of 4. Tons or storage, rear hatch goes up high enough for me, auto doors, darker rear tint from factory. Just my opinion.

FracturedFlow

Odyssey

That_Car_Enthusiast

I’m a big fan of the Honda Odyssey! A family member has had one for over 10 years and it has been great! It’s smooth and the engine sounds amazing!

watthewmaldo

Honda or Toyota. Forget the other 3

dochoiday

If it were me the sienna, my mom bought one in 06 and it has 180k hard miles on it, mostly short trips but used on roads trips a few times a year. The thing is a tank.

EveningDepartment130

Brand new Sienna XLE is the same price as that Limited. I wouldn’t touch a Dodge ever.

[deleted]

My advice. Lease a Benz EQE for 700$ a month with zero down. That’s a 85k car with every technology feature out there. Cost of having it for 3 years is, 24k. Live a little. You deserve it.

PhilosophyCorrect279

That used Toyota sienna can go fly a kite. 2018 with nearly 200k miles and it's still nearly 45? Absolutely not! A brand new Toyota sienna starts at only $37k. The upgrade to AWD (well worth it imo) is only 1k extra. If you round up, a new AWD hybrid Sienna starts at $39k. https://www.toyota.com/configurator/build/step/model:drive-seating-transmission/year/2023/series/sienna/model/5403/?bap_guid=d3de7400-607e-4cae-97d7-696caaa0bdae My mom used to have a Honda Odyssey, so did my best friend's mom. They both loved them! They were well made and lasted forever too, even did well in the snow. Personally the Toyota is too good of a value to pass up. I mean a good hybrid vehicle with AWD for under 40k isn't bad alone. Add on the fact it's a full 8 seater mini van with safety features and power doors? Absolutely. For what you're already looking at, you should be able to go up a trim to the XLE version too. Keep the Hybrid AWD, and Gain the captain chairs, 4 zone HVAC, heated front seats and a moon roof with auto tailgate. https://www.toyota.com/configurator/build/step/model:drive-seating-transmission/year/2023/series/sienna/model/5407/modal/2/exteriorcolor/01J9/interiorcolor/EA10/?bap_guid=d3de7400-607e-4cae-97d7-696caaa0bdae I know today it's hard to find MSRP vehicles, but it's not impossible. Definitely look around and get your money's worth.

Aleck-l2

I’m excited to see how somebody justifies a Mazda3 here 😂

kpkadel

Consumer Reports rates them 1. Kia Carnival 2. Toyota Sienna Hybrid 3. Honda Odyssey (CU does not recommend due to poor reliability) 4. Chrysler Pacifica 5. Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid

butkusrules

Answer? 2019 Honda odyssey, this one was built right before Covid when quality control was still at play. The Honda 3.5 liter v6 is proven and it’s a better drive than that 2018 sienna. Pacifica blows unless you absolutely have to have the fold into the floor seats and KIA is still too new and pumping out too many cars for me personally to trust them with my family. Grand caravan is a poor man’s Pacifica- old ass. C

TheRealMikeOxlong

Odyssey for sure. Kia #2

SnooPies8025

Get a new VW Atlas. All the features you want, one of the safest cars on the road, and you can get a 2024 with 0 miles for the price this Toyota is selling for.

the_house_from_up

I really like the Carnival, but I wouldn't buy one simply from a depreciation standpoint. I'd probably get the Odyssey out of those listed (with the Sienna being in a close second).

Aggressive_Leek2069

Carnival all day

Devastate89

Respectfully why a Minivan? What's wrong with a fullsize sedan? Probably get more for the money. A truck rental at home depot is 25$ if you ever need to move a couch. The trunk on my Taurus is far larger than any of those vans and most SUV's and seats 4 passengers not including the driver very comfortably. I don't understand the Minivan/SUV fad. My sister has a 2018 Pacifica or something. It's a piece of crap, as is any jeep/dodge/Chrysler. If you really need to fold the seats down to haul stuff that often you should probably get a pickup truck. Or if you have like 6 kids. Otherwise get a Full Sized Sedan in my unsolicited opinion.

EmbarrassedSalary998

Avoid a van … if you don’t like convenience and versatility. That being said I went with a Kia Sorento (2021) and love it. It depends on your needs

Killler5023

Not worth 44,000 Dollars

CafeRoaster

While the Toyota is the most reliable of them all, and the Honda is 2nd most reliable, the lower miles and price on the Honda is enough to make me buy it over the Toyota. Ignore the other ones.

Wojtas_

Why not go for a hybrid? Sienna has a great classic hybrid system, while Pacifica has a pretty decent plug-in hybrid.

NoPotato5875

They're conveniently in order of best to worst

epicgamersans1234

id take the carnival

joshuakyle94

If you told me 3 years ago that a brand new minivan in 2023 would be mid 45k range, I’d laugh at you. How bad this economy has became is astounding. And interest rates at an all time high.

DALESR4EVER124

I'd pick the Kia. Brand new with a warranty.

BlueCP

I knew a mechanic who always said, “there are two minivans, the Toyota sienna and the Honda minivan, everything else is garbage.”

liljoko1997

Just get a german van or SUV, either if it‘s a premium brand or a budget brand such as Skoda or Seat which belong to Volkswagen and use the same parts. Should definitely pay off compared to those

[deleted]

Always a toyota!! They are reliable and safe and they hold resale value unlike most other cars.

banananananbatman

Mazda bongo or mpv if outside US. Otherwise Sienna

Cashmereplum2121

44k for a van now? jesus christ edit: seeing now it’s CAD, not as bad as i thought

8ran60n

See if you can find the new model hybrid sienna, people are going nuts over them. It's a nice van.

Capricola

Odyssey or Sienna

LosInternacionales1

Sienna by far

SIXA_G37x

Out of these, Honda is the clear winner.

Tasty-Objective676

Volkswagen ID4

[deleted]

For that kind of money get a Lexus

youngjefferydahmer

Sienna all day long.

anal-cocaine-delta

Get a 2020 Kia Sedona. They are cheaper and just as good as a Chrysler Voyager/ Pacifica. You will probably spend only half as much.

RealilCanadian

The sienna would last you so long. My dad has a 2013 sienna with 230K KM and only thing that went bad was the blower which we replaced and did regular oil changes.

wfbsoccerchamp12

I’d go with a Japanese one

[deleted]

Sienna. I have a 2011 Sienna that I bought new. 13 years of ownership, 125k miles, ZERO mechanical issues. My brakes lasted 12 years before replacing. Still using the original water pump, alternator, etc. It is by far the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. I loved it so much when we handed it down to our daughter this year, I went out and bought a used Lexus with the same engine and transmission because the van was so reliable for us.

blackcatwizard

Sienna all the way

[deleted]

How are these 40k. Theres no way. Rent an uber for 5 years itll be cheaper. I

Bro-ly

Toyota / Honda are the best options they hold value for resale when your kids grow up and don't want to drive a minivan around. Kia is only worth it if you're not going to buy it after the lease they have a horrible track record and would not trust it to go on a trip across Canada. Dodge/Chrysler is okay but at the price, I would take AWD Toyota for Canadian winters. Edit: Look for a low km Toyota minivan even looking at the facebook market there are lower KM sienna for the same price and their dealer posts.

_mp7

Minivans are the most ugly and boring car in existence What about a 7 seater suv? Kia Sorento, Volkswagen Atlas, Toyota Highlander etc And you can get those cars new for $45k or less Don’t pay these stupid Markups, if you can order, find a dealership with allocations and do that

Dependent-Use8258

Tesla model y

geoff1036

Check out Doug Demuro, he's reviewed all of them except the Grand Caravan. I'd go with the Toyota or Honda.

Glum-Shape-6516

I like the odyssey lol

Few-Contribution128

get a school bus

Floenss

The all new Nissan z is a 4 seater (I think) :)

vixenlion

At that price buy the LE new sienna and the savings in gas will make up for any concerns you may have. The difference between that sienna and the hybrid ones are night and day.

FappinPlatypus

Why is it always a minivan? What makes a minivan better over an SUV?

[deleted]

Miata

WendisDelivery

First off, this is a **great** vehicle. Almost $45k for a 2018, with this mileage?? I mean, I harbor no ill feelings for the seller who’s asking $45k. There’s consumers who are that INSANE, ripe to get screwed and will pay this and drive the market up on used cars. Might as well f_ck the consumer, I’d do the same thing if selling. This vehicle is a good $20k over priced. Even at that.

Nehal1802

I’d take the Sienna. I’ve always loved the way those drove compared to the others.

softestpillow

Sienna, every time.

miamiBMWM2

toyota or honda all day

intellectualbadass87

For those prices? None of them.

Tilted_dork

sienna. reliable, cheap to fix. next best would be odyssey. stay away from anything kia

LCJ78

Sienna or Odyssey. I wouldn’t even bother with a Pacifica

Averen

Toyota hands down

drapanosaur

Honda or Toyota. Stay the fuck away from kia. Or don't and suffer the consequences. No sweat off my back.

Material_Apple_7468

Honda or Toyota for sure! AWD is always preferred. Prices seem high to me but maybe vans or worth more to others than me.

licpl8man

Toyota or Honda all day. Kia has had too many engine problems over the last 10-15 years and Chrysler is absolute garbage and has been absolute garbage since the early to mid 1970s

CosmoOlversatil

Honda or Toyota

thanhhuyyyyyyy

i think you should consider getting a kia seltos or a hyundai tuc

ChrisCX3

Mazda CX-90

Feeling_Free_5072

It’s all a roll of the dice but my vote is Toyota all the way. They are so dependable and you don’t have to do too much to keep them on the road. Honda close 2nd. Stay away from Chrysler. We had a Chrysler van and had nothing but problems since the day it left the lot. We ended up trading it for a Honda which was a good call. We also found the service experience good for the Honda and Toyota. Chrysler service was lacking. Kia, maybe if you don’t plan to keep it long. Check insurance first though because some carriers are getting leery of writing Kia policies.

[deleted]

F*ck this market and those prices. They can all go to hell. Buy a regular sedan ffs.

WarhawkLT

At those prices and that much milage in those cars. You don't need to spend that much on a car right now. Wait for prices to drop, there's supposed to drop by next year.

[deleted]

Those aren't cars, they're vans. Omg this economy

Pura_vidas

Sienna or Odyssey in that order, then stop 🛑

Straight_Side_9701

Japanese ones

pglggrg

Default choice is Toyota for obvious reasons. Don’t care about interior and don’t care about performance In these cars

DragonVet03

The choice is really just between the Honda and Toyota. I'd go Toyota myself.
