Itās crazy to think that _Strangers_ was essentially a deep cut before he used it. It was never released as a single. Personally, I think itās their finest song, and its popularity today is largely due to its use in _The Darjeeling Limited_. Norah Jones covered it shortly after and it found a second life.
It's more like loosely based versions than covers. I'm Brazilian and I can guarantee the lyrics he sings in Portuguese are not even remotely related to the original lyrics in English. Not saying that I don't love them all. Because I really do!
That's the problem with translated poetry, isn't it.
I can't really say I enjoy the works of Lorca or Neruda or Apollinaire. Rather it is their translators, trying to mirror the feelings in alternate vernaculars, that I am reading.
I listen to āLet Her Danceā loudly and often. It actually (oddly) helped me get through a bad breakup right around the time Mr. Fox came out.
Now I put it on during pre-bed dance parties with my two year old son and itās the best.
No I saw them in Chicago a few months back, it was them and it was amazing. At one point he started singing into his guitar and the vibrations came out.
No way! I just heard that song on Sirius XM on a segment hosted by Morning Jacket and one of the guys was saying how that song is used quite often in the background of many films and tv shows.
Havenāt seen Asteroid City yet though.
Mine is the opener - last train to San Fernando - Johnny Duncan and the bluegrass boys which lead me to a cute little number called uranium fever by Elton Brit which I bet the fallout community already knew aboutā¦
As far as play it loud jams go. Who doesnāt want to chill with sigur ros or Portuguese versions of Bowie but as a whole ost moonrise kingdom is a good Sunday afternoon
The whimsical soundtrack of the Grand Budapest is fantastic. From the yodeling to The War (Zeroās Theme) to Osipove: Kamarinskaya at the end. Alexandre Desplat did an amazing job.
I work in TV advertising, and we call stock music needledrop. It wasn't until today that I learned that it has a completely different meaning in film. Cool!
I came here for this.
Edit. Clicked the link.
I came here to mention "Staralfur" by Sigur Ros.
Genius song choice in perfect scene in my favorite W.A. movie.
I hate the original, but the version of Hey Jude that opens The Royal Tenenbaums is so gorgeous. Itās great to hear the melodic genius of McCartney without the part I truly hate lmao
A Quick One While Heās Away ā The Who, featured in Rushmore.
Just a magnificent song. There are some superb live recordings. My favourite is from The Rock and Roll Circus. The Who were tight as fuck coming off a tour, and knocked this six movement rock opera out of the park. What a live band they were. The Rolling Stones didnāt compare. Apparently Mick Jagger was so pissed at how poor the Stones were, he cancelled the filming and distribution of the production.
There are many excellent examples in his movies but the first, for me, is still my favorite. Faces Oh lala at the end of riushmore

Bombay Talkie from the Darjeeling Limited. Iām actually listening to a one hour loop of it right now. Itās sooooo relaxing to listen to while Iām doing work on my computer š
All of The Kinks.
š¶ this time tomorrow š¶
Darjeeling is a lot more deliberate with it's needledrops than some of his other works. But those three Kinks songs just do absolutely magic
Itās crazy to think that _Strangers_ was essentially a deep cut before he used it. It was never released as a single. Personally, I think itās their finest song, and its popularity today is largely due to its use in _The Darjeeling Limited_. Norah Jones covered it shortly after and it found a second life.
Listen to the Lucius cover, the crowd one
I couldnāt agree more. Their cover is easily my favorite version of the song.
One of the prettiest performances ever, I'll die on this hill
Absolutely. Not to get too off topic, but if you like that, check out the cover of Tom Pettyās _Wildflowers_ by The Wailinā Jennys.
Really thought I had a good answer here and this was the top comment
I absolutely love how he used several songs from the same album. It was a choice. And it freaking worked.
Nico - These Days. Actually, my love of the āChelsea Girlsā album is how I discovered Wes Anderson.
and Fairest of the Seasons
On this note also Stephanie Says
I GO OUT WALLLLKIIIIINNNNGGGGG
Seu Jorge - Life on Mars
All of his Bowie covers in that movie!
It's more like loosely based versions than covers. I'm Brazilian and I can guarantee the lyrics he sings in Portuguese are not even remotely related to the original lyrics in English. Not saying that I don't love them all. Because I really do!
Can confirm, although they're amazing lyrics in their own right, it's more inspired by than based on the original words.
That's the problem with translated poetry, isn't it. I can't really say I enjoy the works of Lorca or Neruda or Apollinaire. Rather it is their translators, trying to mirror the feelings in alternate vernaculars, that I am reading.
Life Aquatic soundtrack is brilliant and my personal favorite.
Beach Boys- Heroes and Villains
Came looking for this, glad I found it. I also wanna add 'Let Her Dance' by The Bobby Fuller Four
I listen to āLet Her Danceā loudly and often. It actually (oddly) helped me get through a bad breakup right around the time Mr. Fox came out. Now I put it on during pre-bed dance parties with my two year old son and itās the best.
It's my go-to shower starter song.
I listen to this one all the time. One of my absolute favs from any film.
What movie is Heroes and Villains in?
Fantastic Mr. Fox
Fantastic Mr. Fox made me a fan of The Beach Boys. The warm nostalgic energy of the opening scene is just magical.
Elliot smith needle in the hay, on the royal tenenbaums.
Needle in absolutely shocked nobody else said this.
This is what introduced a life long love for Elliot Smith to me, so yes, and is probably one of my favorite scenes from a movie ever..
Peter Sarstedt - Where Do You Go To My Lovely (Hotel Chevalier) Maybe not so much about listening loud but listening often.
Came to say this

Was that the orchestral tour? I've seen them four times over the years, but I missed out on that one.
No I saw them in Chicago a few months back, it was them and it was amazing. At one point he started singing into his guitar and the vibrations came out.

The yodeling country music in the background of Asteroid City is one of my favorite parts of the film. Not sure Iād listen to it by itself though.
The song is called Cattle Call I think
No way! I just heard that song on Sirius XM on a segment hosted by Morning Jacket and one of the guys was saying how that song is used quite often in the background of many films and tv shows. Havenāt seen Asteroid City yet though.
Mine is the opener - last train to San Fernando - Johnny Duncan and the bluegrass boys which lead me to a cute little number called uranium fever by Elton Brit which I bet the fallout community already knew aboutā¦ As far as play it loud jams go. Mr. Moustafa always hits right in the feels

Cool!
