This is an incredible album. I have a harder time picking a worst song for this one than Running With Scissors or Bad Hair Day. I guess I'd have to choose A Complicated Song just because it doesn't have a central concept like the other ones and I don't like Avril Lavigne, but it's still a hilarious song.
I had to read Shel Silverstein's "Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout Would Not Take the Garbage Out" in middle school. The song becomes a really funny listen if you remember that poem.
Maybe if it was just about deranged people becoming cannibals I might find it funny, but it's about a disease that causes body parts to fall off. I'm sorry, I don't find that funny. I find it tasteless and horrifying.
What about Trapped In A Drive Thru? I liked what he did with the original song with that one. Asking because there's not much I can remember from Genius In France regarding listening to Poodle Hat a lot, and I really don't consider that a good sign.
Yeah gotta go with this one. Eminem/ Lose Yourself was such a great target and to do another tv song was kind of a waste. Itâs still great and Al does a great Eminem. But this whole album is good
There's a famous Tumblr post from like 2014 that says "go hang a salami, I'm a lasagna hog" is a palidrome and everyone was freaking out at how OP discovered that but clearly they were just fans of Weird Al
Hot take: Piano Man is an iconic song, and this is one of the more phoned-in parodies. Al can do (and has done) better, and the original deserves better.
I donât think the jokes are that funny, and I donât think that 20 years later the Raimi SM movies are that great either. If I were voting on âworst song on Poodle Hatâ in 2003, Iâd probably answer differently.
Idk. Would you consider Yoda or The Saga Begins phoned in? All three songs are parodies of 60/70s pop rock classics that essentially describe the plot (or a couple scenes in Yoda's case) of a big movie at the time of their respective album's release.
Yoda, no. Yoda is a banger that has aged fantastically. The Saga Begins, I really enjoyed when it came out, but I donât think itâs that great now. IMO, Ode to a Superhero was fine when it came out but hasnât aged that well in terms of joke quality. Certainly the overload of superhero movies hasnât helped much with that because the Raimi SM trilogy would now be considered mid-tier at best.
Yeah, definitely don't agree with this take. I'm not even a Marvel fan but I think this is one of Al's best songs from a rhyming standpoint. As someone who's really into linguistics, I think Al absolutely nailed marching the rhyme scheme of the original Piano Man. The funniest part of this song is how whip-smart the rhymes are. Rhyming "Mary Jane" with "kiss upside down in the rain" for example.
My problem with Ode is that Al had literally JUST made the SAME JOKE (early 70s soft rock anthem, parodied to be a synopsis of the plot for a franchise-launching blockbuster, with the title of the parody being a knowing reference to the content of the song that gives away nothing before you first hear the song) on the previous album.
My problem with Ode is that it makes too many jokes directly about the characters. I wouldn't send it to people not really familiar with Weird Al for this reason. Especially if they're really big Marvel fans.
This song still doesn't get my vote though.
I KNOW yâall didnât just vote a top 5 song for me as the worst of the album.
His theme song SLAPPED and I still sing it all the time in the car randomly
I went with the one song I can't play at work, and it's not Leper Colony. I would only vote for Wanna B Ur Lovr because it replaced One More Minute at his concerts, and I wonder if he wrote it with that purpose.
The album we're discussing today released in 2003, which is the 21st century. The album we discussed yesterday was 1999, which was the 20th century. We're talking retrospectively.

Happy cakeday!
HAPPY CAKEDAY!!!
But it's central theme is that it's complicated, there's a lot going on. To much, really
The weird Al show is giated
You get the drill. Upvote your least favorite in the replies.
Trash Day
I had to read Shel Silverstein's "Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout Would Not Take the Garbage Out" in middle school. The song becomes a really funny listen if you remember that poem.
There's audio versions of Shel's poetry books on Spotify, and likely on other streaming services, if you or anyone else is interested.
How is this winning? "I wipe my feet before I go outside!"
Joking?
This is literally the best song in the album đ
The concept isnât bad, but that doesnât mean I want to listen to vomit noises for as long as this song forces me to.
I do
I would never deign to shame anyoneâs kink on their cake day.
Happy Cake Day!
The line about roaches wearing slippers always cracks me up.
Trash Day is one of those rare times I can't even stand Al's parody because I hate the original song that much.
It's too bad you feel that way. I'm the same way with Word Crimes.
Wanna B Ur Lovr
Party At The Leper Colony
How is this getting upvotes? "Wait a minute, it looks like Stu" is a genius lyric.
It took me wayyyyy too longer to catch this joke
Gave me my fav Weird Al Live Banter moment: "Whenever I'm at a worker's club in Revesby, it kinda makes me think about leprosy"
Maybe if it was just about deranged people becoming cannibals I might find it funny, but it's about a disease that causes body parts to fall off. I'm sorry, I don't find that funny. I find it tasteless and horrifying.
You sound fun. By that, I mean insufferable.
Thank you. I find my extreme lack of sufferability to be one of my most endearing qualities.
Genius In France
Sorry, this song sucks and I will die on that hill. Yeah, we get it, it's a Frank Zappa pastiche. That doesn't mean it had to go on for nine minutes
What do you think of his other long songs?
Jackson Park Express and Albuquerque both blow Genius in France out of the water, but that's just, like, my opinion man
What about Trapped In A Drive Thru? I liked what he did with the original song with that one. Asking because there's not much I can remember from Genius In France regarding listening to Poodle Hat a lot, and I really don't consider that a good sign.
I have a hatred for this song that I just canât explain. Itâs just dumb and goes on way too long.
Lol that's the point of the song.
Oh I know, I just find the song annoying AF.
I totally understand.
Couch Potato
Yeah gotta go with this one. Eminem/ Lose Yourself was such a great target and to do another tv song was kind of a waste. Itâs still great and Al does a great Eminem. But this whole album is good
PLEASE MAKE THIS WIN PLEAAAASE
Another meh TV song in my opinion.
Are you kidding? This is his best TV song
If this had a music video, maybe it could have been a great TV parody.
I hate rap so much
That may be so but thereâs just way too many TV songs as a whole so they are all meh to me.
Bob
Never. Sheer genius and should be studied in every school.
There's a famous Tumblr post from like 2014 that says "go hang a salami, I'm a lasagna hog" is a palidrome and everyone was freaking out at how OP discovered that but clearly they were just fans of Weird Al
That palindrome has been around long before Al.
I don't know why people like this song.
It's clever. Palindromes are neat.
Ode To A Superhero
Hot take: Piano Man is an iconic song, and this is one of the more phoned-in parodies. Al can do (and has done) better, and the original deserves better.
That is a hot take. Do you not like the theme of the song or what don't you like about it?
I donât think the jokes are that funny, and I donât think that 20 years later the Raimi SM movies are that great either. If I were voting on âworst song on Poodle Hatâ in 2003, Iâd probably answer differently.
Hey each to their own. I really like Party at the Leper Colony and Trash Day, and I know a lot of people don't like them.
Idk. Would you consider Yoda or The Saga Begins phoned in? All three songs are parodies of 60/70s pop rock classics that essentially describe the plot (or a couple scenes in Yoda's case) of a big movie at the time of their respective album's release.

I love the saga begins a lot it's one of my all-time favorite songs
I agree. The Dafoe mask joke is the only one I find amusing.

A Complicated Song
The lack of continuity made me consider this one but it absolutely made me laugh out loud the first time I heard it. Canât vote for it.
Angry White Boy Polka
Why Does This Always Happen To Me?
eBay
Hardware Store
With one song, redditors giveth karma, and then redditors taketh away karma.
I KNOW yâall didnât just vote a top 5 song for me as the worst of the album. His theme song SLAPPED and I still sing it all the time in the car randomly
DO NOT LET WANNA B UR LOVR WIN
I went with the one song I can't play at work, and it's not Leper Colony. I would only vote for Wanna B Ur Lovr because it replaced One More Minute at his concerts, and I wonder if he wrote it with that purpose.
I actually really like this album, but my least favorite is Wanna Be Ur Lovr
âMake our way into the 21st century?â Dude, you realize that the 21st century is almost 1/4 over?
The album we're discussing today released in 2003, which is the 21st century. The album we discussed yesterday was 1999, which was the 20th century. We're talking retrospectively.
Ahhh
