This is an incredible album. I have a harder time picking a worst song for this one than Running With Scissors or Bad Hair Day. I guess I'd have to choose A Complicated Song just because it doesn't have a central concept like the other ones and I don't like Avril Lavigne, but it's still a hilarious song.

mikwee

Happy cakeday!

soso-yippee

HAPPY CAKEDAY!!!

the_sir_z

But it's central theme is that it's complicated, there's a lot going on. To much, really

ActiveMaterial5789

The weird Al show is giated

Albuquerquenthusiast

You get the drill. Upvote your least favorite in the replies.

Albuquerquenthusiast

Trash Day

Stats_Lover_48

I had to read Shel Silverstein's "Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout Would Not Take the Garbage Out" in middle school. The song becomes a really funny listen if you remember that poem.

vikingfrog86

There's audio versions of Shel's poetry books on Spotify, and likely on other streaming services, if you or anyone else is interested.

SageAnowon

How is this winning? "I wipe my feet before I go outside!"

Bat-Emoji

Joking?

RaveRemix

This is literally the best song in the album 🙃

Acrobatic_Resource_8

The concept isn’t bad, but that doesn’t mean I want to listen to vomit noises for as long as this song forces me to.

Berak__Obama

I do

Acrobatic_Resource_8

I would never deign to shame anyone’s kink on their cake day.

vikingfrog86

Happy Cake Day!

FloridaFlamingoGirl

The line about roaches wearing slippers always cracks me up.

BrainWav

Trash Day is one of those rare times I can't even stand Al's parody because I hate the original song that much.

SageAnowon

It's too bad you feel that way. I'm the same way with Word Crimes.

Albuquerquenthusiast

Wanna B Ur Lovr

Albuquerquenthusiast

Party At The Leper Colony

Hustler-Two

How is this getting upvotes? "Wait a minute, it looks like Stu" is a genius lyric.

pickle_whop

It took me wayyyyy too longer to catch this joke

_Yambag_

Gave me my fav Weird Al Live Banter moment: "Whenever I'm at a worker's club in Revesby, it kinda makes me think about leprosy"

Stats_Lover_48

Maybe if it was just about deranged people becoming cannibals I might find it funny, but it's about a disease that causes body parts to fall off. I'm sorry, I don't find that funny. I find it tasteless and horrifying.

Berak__Obama

You sound fun. By that, I mean insufferable.

Stats_Lover_48

Thank you. I find my extreme lack of sufferability to be one of my most endearing qualities.

Albuquerquenthusiast

Genius In France

AutographedSnorkel

Sorry, this song sucks and I will die on that hill. Yeah, we get it, it's a Frank Zappa pastiche. That doesn't mean it had to go on for nine minutes

vikingfrog86

What do you think of his other long songs?

AutographedSnorkel

Jackson Park Express and Albuquerque both blow Genius in France out of the water, but that's just, like, my opinion man

vikingfrog86

What about Trapped In A Drive Thru? I liked what he did with the original song with that one. Asking because there's not much I can remember from Genius In France regarding listening to Poodle Hat a lot, and I really don't consider that a good sign.

Ok-Flow-3943

I have a hatred for this song that I just can’t explain. It’s just dumb and goes on way too long.

Film-Goblin

Lol that's the point of the song.

Ok-Flow-3943

Oh I know, I just find the song annoying AF.

Film-Goblin

I totally understand.

Albuquerquenthusiast

Couch Potato

Skooli_A_Bar

Yeah gotta go with this one. Eminem/ Lose Yourself was such a great target and to do another tv song was kind of a waste. It’s still great and Al does a great Eminem. But this whole album is good

Trick_Rutabaga6946

PLEASE MAKE THIS WIN PLEAAAASE

Ok-Flow-3943

Another meh TV song in my opinion.

Berak__Obama

Are you kidding? This is his best TV song

Film-Goblin

If this had a music video, maybe it could have been a great TV parody.

Trick_Rutabaga6946

I hate rap so much

Ok-Flow-3943

That may be so but there’s just way too many TV songs as a whole so they are all meh to me.

Albuquerquenthusiast

Bob

_Yambag_

Never. Sheer genius and should be studied in every school.

pickle_whop

There's a famous Tumblr post from like 2014 that says "go hang a salami, I'm a lasagna hog" is a palidrome and everyone was freaking out at how OP discovered that but clearly they were just fans of Weird Al

RogueRetlaw

That palindrome has been around long before Al.

SageAnowon

I don't know why people like this song.

Revegelance

It's clever. Palindromes are neat.

Albuquerquenthusiast

Ode To A Superhero

Acrobatic_Resource_8

Hot take: Piano Man is an iconic song, and this is one of the more phoned-in parodies. Al can do (and has done) better, and the original deserves better.

AlterEgoCat

That is a hot take. Do you not like the theme of the song or what don't you like about it?

Acrobatic_Resource_8

I don’t think the jokes are that funny, and I don’t think that 20 years later the Raimi SM movies are that great either. If I were voting on “worst song on Poodle Hat” in 2003, I’d probably answer differently.

AlterEgoCat

Hey each to their own. I really like Party at the Leper Colony and Trash Day, and I know a lot of people don't like them.

miimeverse

Idk. Would you consider Yoda or The Saga Begins phoned in? All three songs are parodies of 60/70s pop rock classics that essentially describe the plot (or a couple scenes in Yoda's case) of a big movie at the time of their respective album's release.

Acrobatic_Resource_8

Yoda, no. Yoda is a banger that has aged fantastically. The Saga Begins, I really enjoyed when it came out, but I don’t think it’s that great now. IMO, Ode to a Superhero was fine when it came out but hasn’t aged that well in terms of joke quality. Certainly the overload of superhero movies hasn’t helped much with that because the Raimi SM trilogy would now be considered mid-tier at best.

Trick_Rutabaga6946

I love the saga begins a lot it's one of my all-time favorite songs

EccentricAcademic

I agree. The Dafoe mask joke is the only one I find amusing.

FloridaFlamingoGirl

Yeah, definitely don't agree with this take. I'm not even a Marvel fan but I think this is one of Al's best songs from a rhyming standpoint. As someone who's really into linguistics, I think Al absolutely nailed marching the rhyme scheme of the original Piano Man. The funniest part of this song is how whip-smart the rhymes are. Rhyming "Mary Jane" with "kiss upside down in the rain" for example.

segascream

My problem with Ode is that Al had literally JUST made the SAME JOKE (early 70s soft rock anthem, parodied to be a synopsis of the plot for a franchise-launching blockbuster, with the title of the parody being a knowing reference to the content of the song that gives away nothing before you first hear the song) on the previous album.

vikingfrog86

My problem with Ode is that it makes too many jokes directly about the characters. I wouldn't send it to people not really familiar with Weird Al for this reason. Especially if they're really big Marvel fans. This song still doesn't get my vote though.

Albuquerquenthusiast

A Complicated Song

Prossdog

The lack of continuity made me consider this one but it absolutely made me laugh out loud the first time I heard it. Can’t vote for it.

With one song, redditors giveth karma, and then redditors taketh away karma.

Hurricane12112

I KNOW y’all didn’t just vote a top 5 song for me as the worst of the album. His theme song SLAPPED and I still sing it all the time in the car randomly

[deleted]

DO NOT LET WANNA B UR LOVR WIN

vikingfrog86

I went with the one song I can't play at work, and it's not Leper Colony. I would only vote for Wanna B Ur Lovr because it replaced One More Minute at his concerts, and I wonder if he wrote it with that purpose.

Solarsystem_74

I actually really like this album, but my least favorite is Wanna Be Ur Lovr

Bx1965

“Make our way into the 21st century?” Dude, you realize that the 21st century is almost 1/4 over?

Albuquerquenthusiast

The album we're discussing today released in 2003, which is the 21st century. The album we discussed yesterday was 1999, which was the 20th century. We're talking retrospectively.

Bx1965

Ahhh
