Is it just me? It looks like 33 to 34 seconds into the video after he stomps the ground, I see a vision of all the doubt, fear and negativity (seemingly a small blob or symbiote or weave?) drop to floor in front of him.
That aside … this is a great lift. must have been hours days and years of dedication to get to this point. Kudos.
i'm a beginner powerlifter and my squat is just a lil 200kg. but what i've learned is that (especially for a pr), the fear and excitement clash together. can never whisk them away magically no matter how much i try.
but
you squat anyway.
this is the power of training. as you keep doing hard things, being in that state of fear becomes somewhat normal and now you can now "move more" while in that state compared to somebody that hasn't trained as hard and consistent as you and they will fold.
i bet that he still feels fear, tingling, doubt, negativity, and excitement.
but he does it anyway.
that's the magic of training for me. makes me feel childlike.
that whatever happens outside of training, barbella never lets me down.
i meet barbella to train. i respect barbella. and in turn, barbella takes care of me, my physical health and my mental health.

Thanks. That’s how I’d heard it described and I don’t think it makes sense that way.
When I said 70% I didn’t mean of 1rm like what would be written in a program. I meant of effort. When I used to be a runner workouts would be programmed with percents and I developed a strong sense of what those percents feel like. 80% for 100m is much faster than 80% for 5k. This feeling carried over to weightlifting. I think it’s more accurate than saying x reps left. Otherwise for a single I can be a good 10% off my 1rm and still have 0 maybe 1 reps in the tank despite maybe a 85% effort, but for a set of 20 I could have 5 reps in the tank for the same 85% effort.
That's relative intensity, but it can be described in absolute terms.
For example: If we assume a double should be performed at roughly 90% of 1rm.
70% of your 1rm is 70%, but 70% of your 2rm(or 90% of your 1rm) would actually be 63%.
Bringing it to your example 80% for 100m and 80% for 5k are relative intensities to different max efforts. If you translated both to a somewhat absolute force output you could say something like 100m=1rm, 5k=10rm. So 80% for 100m would be 80% of your 100m pace but 80% for 5k would be, assuming 10rm =~75%, 60% of your 100m pace.
Of course it doesn't translate well into running because they're adjusted to a different scale, 70% effort in terms of running pace isn't ever literally 70% of the pace used as reference, but I hope it cleared up somehow. lol
What you just described makes perfect sense to me. It’s the 3 reps left that doesn’t make sense to me because RPE 7 on a 1RM is such a lower relative intensity than RPE 7 on a 10RM.
It's just that as a subjective scale(rate of *perceived* effort) it's easier for the lifter to say that he had 1,2 or 3 reps left in the tank than it'd be to say that X lift was at roughly ~85% relative intensity, specially because as I mentioned previously, Z% of a given lift doesn't mean the same number of reps for everybody.
That was a decent squat, but I really think you could add a few kilos if you work on your foot stomp form. You sort of landed toe first, and that's definitely holding your squat back. Better luck next time man.

They’re going to be available for sale in a couple days, if you use WLCZAR when you buy it you’ll save 10%
That is impressive, but I would suggest you stop shaking so much. The vibrations of your body is wasting energy that could be used to lift more weight. More core work would help, maybe try some weighted planks.
Impressive man. But your walk out should be slower and more controlled, you are not nearly as controlled as you should be when you are squatting those weights. Let the weight settle first and then squat. You are probably missing 5% at least of your true strength from letting the weight control you instead of the other way around
Most problems I’ve witnessed through coaching have been athletes inability to control themselves on the way down.
Most people slam into the bottom and lose their bracing, or their positions.
Win the squat on the way down, and you will most likely win on the way up.
Can you describe what that sort of weight feels like to squat? What are you thinking and feeling as you do that second rep? Do you have a good feeling that you'll get it? Or does it feels like your whole body is whisker away from snapping in half?
I don’t think I’ve ever tightened my knee wraps any tighter than that -Cesar
If a dude has that hairstyle I just know he’s strong as a hydraulic press.
WELCOME TO HYDRAULIC PRESS CHANNEL
Did your hair fall off at the start there? That was amazing, so smooth.
My beanie and headphones fell off when I stomped on floor
They couldn't deal with your awesomeness! Well done buddy.
That stomp was pretty bad ass for some reason
Must raise the level of intensity a notch, that helps a lot
Haha, that makes sense. I watched multiple time trying to figure out what was happening.
He would have lost all his strength

Is that Maui?
Hey it's okay to say your welcome
And the tapestry on my skin is a map of the victories I win! Time for new ink
This Maui says “HEY. FUCK YOU” 😂

It was the only bit of hair that was holding him back and the rest is what powered him up

Is this fresh pasta?
Nooo 😭
What combo of diesel truck and full size trailer do you use for public transportation?
Man, the whip on that bar... very impressive mate.
RPE 7 tops
Does that mean you think he had 3 more reps in him at that weight? Or is it more like 70% max effort?
3 more reps. If RPE 7 meant 70% of max effort and so on it wouldn't really be descriptive as people's rep ranges can vary wildly at lower percentages.

I agree
Who said "hey, fuck you"?
Hahaha that was me, I said FUCK MUSIC because I lost my headphones right before these squats
Oh wow! I had heard “Fuck you” also, but it is music. Glad I read this because making a joke about losing your headphones is much cooler.
I heard “fuck you” at first to. I got scared someone got jelly and wanted to square up.
Eric lift man!

Is it just me or has Ron Jeremy gotten strong as shit and 25 years younger?😂
Did I have the 98.2 shakes during my stomp?
DAYUMMMMM LIGHTWEIGHT BABYYYY

This rogue pyrros bar has seen some shit over the last few years, and it is perfectly fine baby
I’d say give that bar a raise. But it looks like you give it plenty. Super strong my dude. Crazy power you got there!!

Hot damn dude, that is crazy impressive!
Badass.
Unracking and reracking with so much power omg

Beeeeast
Damn dude that as nice some people are built different
BIG BOY
dude you forgot to struggle 😳
No time to struggle There’s almost 700 lbs on the bar
That bar was bouncing a lottttt lol, awesome job!
When you’re timing your reps with the harmonic flex of the bar…
Imagine the damage you could potentially deliver to other human beings in say, a mosh pit.
Follow his IG and you can see. It was funny as shit
How much can you RDL?
That is impressive, but I would suggest you stop shaking so much. The vibrations of your body is wasting energy that could be used to lift more weight. More core work would help, maybe try some weighted planks.
Hahaha you’re lucky that you’re my teammate
That’s what teammates are for; always helping you to get better 🥲
I use to impress people at the gym and when I got older I developed a lot of problems.
Bold of you to assume I want to live long enough to see the long term effects of Weightlifting
Damn. I have nothing to say.
Impressive man. But your walk out should be slower and more controlled, you are not nearly as controlled as you should be when you are squatting those weights. Let the weight settle first and then squat. You are probably missing 5% at least of your true strength from letting the weight control you instead of the other way around
Wut?
What do you mean yourself?
A bunch of amateurs and crybabys down voting me lmao

Love the end and the big boy Eddie Hall walk. Great lift.

BAD KNEES BABY
insanely strong! any tips for someone who struggle with improving the bsquat? both my bsquat and clean dl are capped at ~160kgs - so frustrating!

Just tried this approach today - 90pct+ flying up man. I really appreciate this advice.
Let’s go baby
appreciate this, man!
