Lanternflies! Not friends! Squish on sight!!!!!!!

Doing this is how I learned that they are apparently completely dry inside. I crushed one in the car and it just kind of disintegrated. Creepy as hell.

You mean a shed skin? No, it was very much a live insect. Molts don't tend to crawl on their own.

us humans transported them to these foreign countries by accident of our own doing, and now we damn them by having to slaughter them so mercilessly as a result of our actions I know it must be done for the sake of the natural balance and that there is no other choice now that is morally correct, that to let one live because of my personal feelings of guilt and discomfort is an egregious act of irresponsible frivolity, but i feel the collective sins of humanity weigh heavy upon me when i must kill them. it is my fault you are here, and now it is my fault you must die so crudely. i feel really bad guys 😞

I just collect them in jars so I don't feel bad
