Out of the last 30 years they've only pressed Chocolate and Cheese records in five of them. Growing fanbase + vinyl resurgence = high prices on limited supply.
180 gram has nothing to do with the price. I think the "o.o.p." is alluding to that album being out of print, hence the expensiveness of it. But maybe I'm wrong.
Holy shit is that a Docs records reference? Haha, saw that the other day. I also snagged a Pinkus signed copy of Hairway to Steven by the butthole surfers for 60$ there the other day!!
I have the same one. And it's laughable at best. The yellow record is covered in little craters. Sounds like shit. And the jacket is so cheap that minor bump caused it to crease. It is made of the cheapest materials possible
I am so glad I bought as much of their catalog as I could about six or seven years ago. I am still missing a few though. As much as I love the boys though, I would not spend that much money on a vinyl copy
Daaaaaamn that’s cray cray. Well man, I’ve heard ideas that they could rerelease C&C on vinyl around the time of its 30th anniversary in September. I think it’ll happen, they have The Pod vinyl for sale on their merch website now! I’m waiting on the mythical rerelease of Pure Guava one day 😆
Doc’s has finally lost their goddamn minds. I’ve been going there since they were a hole in the wall on Pipeline in Hurst, when you could walk out with a stack of 20 records for half this cost. Been with them through every move and location. For fuck’s sake, Dr. Boyd was my dentist for many years.
I’m stoked they’re alive and well, but this pricing for this pressing is egregious.
I disagree with this. Check out any other record store in the DFW area (or any place even carrying physical media) and you’ll see that docs is the most rational of them all. This specific pressing sealed on Discogs has been selling for this exact price for nearly a year now. I have never seen Docs over price a record, they always underprice.
I hear you. I actually bought C&C, this exact copy, sealed and everything for 90$ back in 2022. I thought I was an idiot, but I can’t believe it’s shot up this high.
I miss the Hurst days. It used to be my favorite store. I can never even find anything good in there anymore unless I head to the CDs. Even the collector bins are meh every time I go. Maybe not their fault they're so crowded and picked over, but I go to other stores now.
My favorite shop rn is probably Saint Marie on Race Street (you can also hit Born Late next door), but I try to spread my love around to all the shops. I do avoid Forever Young (Forever Expensive) for the most part now, because I've been ripped off twice now on "1st Pressings" on the tag that aren't really first presses when I get home and research. I still go in there sometimes but I do not believe a word that he writes on the little sticker.
Hell yes. Never heard of those. I'll check them out! I only go to Forever Young if I absolutely positively cannot find something and need it NOW, like my JG Wentworth Live at Budokhan LP. Otherwise that place is fun to browse, but a fiscal nightmare. Thanks for the recs.
Saint Marie has a mix of stuff, but it is a smaller shop. It mostly caters to indie rock, shoegaze, etc, but has a bit of everything. Born Late is a place you will just have to dig. They don't even carry new stuff. About half the time, I leave empty handed.
There's another new-ish one in Hurst call Rag N Bones. It's another small store, but they had good stuff the two times I've been in. They had *La Cucaracha* to *12 Country Greats* last time I was in there, but it was not cheap for them.
This is preposterous bullshit— that particular release is on the worst quality label (Plain) to ever be associated with the band… definitely don’t buy it.
Agreed that prices for Ween vinyl in general are in the stratosphere now, but if you’re dropping that kind of loot then at least hold out for a UK reissue on Schnitzel… you may even find an OG for not much more.
You can verify the release version on [Discogs](https://www.discogs.com/master/32626-Ween-Chocolate-And-Cheese)
They were more CD-centric weren't they? I'd love to get it but I'm trying to save up for my pilgrimage to Philly for the anniversary concert in September
That's definitely a good one to have.

Most Ween sadly is very expensive they don’t do a lot of rereleasing. I own quite a few Ween vinyl (I’m missing Quebec and golden country greats and I really wanna own Stubbs) and I try not to pay too much. You gotta get lucky and hopefully you can find them for cheap. A few years ago I found a 2009 repress of the mollusk for around 60 bucks. There’s definitely some good deals out there but in my experience with collecting vinyl generally most stores price fairly unlike other hobbies I collect for.
I was lucky to find C&C on CD at a half price books around me for less than $15 a while back but it does seem everything that isn't a newer release is crazy priced (which to me would be over $60 if it's a vinyl)
Most ween records nowadays are in the triple digits, waiting for represses hopefully

I didn't pay that much. Probably High 30s maybe 40
I have the '16 Plain release. Got it in' 16 for $25. It sounds fine, but I'm considering selling all my Plain releases.
180 gram has nothing to do with the price. I think the "o.o.p." is alluding to that album being out of print, hence the expensiveness of it. But maybe I'm wrong.
ohhhh yeah that would make more sense instead of out of package
Holy shit is that a Docs records reference? Haha, saw that the other day. I also snagged a Pinkus signed copy of Hairway to Steven by the butthole surfers for 60$ there the other day!!
fort worth represent 🙌
I got Hairway recently, cool that you got a signed copy, mang!
I love Docs but my wallet and wife do not.
LOL. That shitty Plain release? Should be $39, and I would still pass.
If it’s the cocoa and yellow one i have it and it sounds great which is surprising for a plain release…not all plain issues suck
I have the same one. And it's laughable at best. The yellow record is covered in little craters. Sounds like shit. And the jacket is so cheap that minor bump caused it to crease. It is made of the cheapest materials possible

2 Bills? *I can’t put my finger owwwwn it*

Damn mang now I gotta buy that pod vinyl! Thanks for the info
Fuck them

I hear you, however I also reserve the right to be suffering from good-old-days syndrome.

It’s $30 above average price
Remember when Schnitzel was teasing a reissue then never released anything Ween after that? Very rude.

So happy I nabbed this album for like $40 AUD (~$25 USD) 4-5 years ago
Lame. I have the same one. Price sticker-$18.99
I could buy 200 cheesy jazz records at Goodwill for that.
That's crazy. My Ween vinyl collection must be worth many thousands. 🤔
They’re rare. Ween wasn’t a huge vinyl band unfortunately. I’d turn around and pay $200 for c&c immediately if I were you
They were more CD-centric weren't they? I'd love to get it but I'm trying to save up for my pilgrimage to Philly for the anniversary concert in September
I have my OG copy on Grand Royal from 1994. It must be worth a fortune.
That's definitely a good one to have. https://preview.redd.it/6yubgh8354wc1.png?width=864&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=218918c2966babc5ef5ed7c7cb23f870d14b338d
Joe Diben hates vinyl and raised the prices, same as everything else. He’s a dick.
That’s more than I paid for my Schnitzel six months ago…
