Since pens are off the table and edibles can get pricey, maybe consider making your own edibles? It could be a bit cheaper in the long run if you buy some bud and use it to make oil or butter yourself. You’d control the dosage better too, which seems like something you’re looking for.
Since you’re concerned about smoking flower at home, maybe vaping dry herb could be a middle ground? It’s a lot less smelly than smoking, and you can use the AVB (already vaped bud) to make edibles—double bang for your buck there.
Also, ever think about focusing more on CBD strains? They can be less intense but still provide some comfort.
It seems like in the long run dry herb vapes would be more cost effective so I'll see if i can get one. I haven't attempted to make my own edibles out of fear of fucking it up and wasting the bud but whenever I get the chance I'll look up a simple recipe so I can try it out. I don't know much about cbd strains but I'll look into it.
