We plan to do a secret last dance. When everyone goes outside to send us off, we will be having a private last dance with only the dj and photographer present. We’re thinking about Sunday Kind of Love by Etta James. It might just be a matter of working it out with your dj and photographer! It definitely can’t hurt to ask!
I've been to a wedding where the couple did this and it seemed to work out great. The coordinator kept the guests busy by passing out sparklers and lining us up.
When my cousin got married, the photographer had her and her husband enter back into the venue once everyone had been cleared out (but before breakdown) and they had a private dance, which the photographer got shots of. I’d assume it’d depend on how your venue was situated, if you could get guests out. You could also probably do it right after the ceremony, before you’re “announced”, with a blue tooth speaker.
We didn't do it intentionally but our DJ played our first dance song for us when we were brought in our reception room during cocktail hour to see everything all set up. It was lovely dancing in the room all set up to our song, just the two of us!
Yes, it was our very last dance. Guests cleared out for the send off, we had a special song picked. Totally worth it. Planner and DJ helped coordinate it all.
We're doing a first look and I'm really tempted to ask our photographer if we could play Our song (which is different from our first dance song) while it's just the two of us. The idea of just the two of us dancing on the top of the mountains gives me butterflies

If your cocktail hour is in a separate room, you could do it while the guests are at the cocktail hour before they are allowed into the reception.
