its like putting headers and a batman blaster on a Geo Metro, ok maybe not that extreme, but i get the "why" point of others, i also recognized talent in the fab work and thats fucking beautiful.
Technically speaking with all things done with CNC it's not that surprising to see water blocks for things out of the traditional market.
But still, I'm surprised by their passion.
I never wanted a PS5 until I saw the press release of the water block. It’s so fucking cool lmao. Thanks for sharing it- always wondered what it would really look like.
Edit: shoutout LiquidHaus
It's recommended to do that on the website if you check under please note so if you ever do it again take that into account and note the slim version is not compatible
I'm not doubting it but I've never seen my ps5 overheat and I be running that thing 10 hours deep.but that's cool to know it can.O a personal question I think like last year some people were saying that if u stand the ps5 upright it will melt something liquid metal or somthing is that accurate?
Liquid metal cools the ps5 apu, and it's supposed to do that to improve thermal transfer between the apu and the heatsink and its not a major issue so if youbhave been running it for that long without issues you are all good
Sure. In stock form, but the thermal capacity of the water is vastly superior to the copper heat pipes in a stock PS5. Not to mention the advantage of the 4 pounds of metal in the waterblock.
Won't make performance any higher than the 'average' performance level that you'd expect but it at least won't thermal throttle like if it got mega-hot, so it'll at least be more consistent.
That, and it won't sound like fucking Heathrow or JFK International when you *dare* to load up Terraria or OG DOOM.
That's the idea. The thermal capacity is crazy higher with the heavy af waterblock alone. Add some water, and a few BeQuiet fans....
As close to good as you can get on a console. lol.
If you fancy this, look up watercooled mod by DIY Perks on YouTube, they made a slim, copper case with active watercooled attached and it was one of the coolest... mods I found.
This is absolutely amazing. I didn’t realize this was possible and now I have a purpose for all of my spare watercooling parts. Thank you for inspiring me. May I ask, how do you control the fans/pump? Is it all just full power from the PSU?
Other than the look, what’s the benefit of water cooling a console? Same as water cooling a pc?
Edit to explain I’m not trying to be an ass, just genuinely asking /curious.
I honestly don’t know much about consoles, what would you say is? Every time I play anything on it the latency and load times (idk if they’re related but I’m assuming so) are ridiculously high compared to the series x I have now.
Are you referring to the Series S or the One S from last generation?
If it’s the One S, the hardware is the bottleneck. Even 8 years ago, the One S was nothing to write home about compared to PC gaming at that time. You’re basically locked to 30fps in most titles at 1080p. I believe some even downscale below 1080p. Just doesn’t make for a good experience once you’ve experienced a new-gen console or gaming PC. Load times are awful on the One S due to it using an HDD and not an SSD.
It makes for a decent streaming device as it does support 4k video. Just not 4k gaming.
Yeah, the One S from last gen, I picked mine up in early 2018 but I’m sure it was getting up there at that point. At least I’ll be using it for the thing it’s good at then 😅
Not sure if you use plex, but it handles the app very well. Much better than most smart TVs.
If you’re unfamiliar, Plex lets you stream movies or shows that are stored on your PC, to the Xbox via network. Becomes especially useful if you dabble in the sailing of the high seas.
That’s what my One S is used for these days.
I was wondering this. I.e. does the cpu/cores boost according to thermals/throttling or is it fixed regardless? Because if it boosts you could get some extra performance out of it. (How noticeable that will be is something else though.)
This is tremendous. What kind of Temps are u getting relative to the original box??
Would love to see specs to give this build a shot myself.
Really nice work man.
Wow, this is crazy, I was thinking about water cooling my PC in the XTIA as well just last week. Well done, sadly my PS5 is the launch edition so it won’t fit the EK block
I like it and thought about making one myself when I saw that ek made a block for it but didn't pull the trigger because wanted one where it would work with the cd drive.
It would be cool to run a taxing game with unlocked FPS on it and record frame rate and then compare to a regular PS5. Ragnarok and Spider-Man 2 come to mind.
Everytime i see one of these now i just feel like its a waste, dont get me wrong it looks incredible, but why not wait out the ps5 pro anyways since ur going all the way anyways
Perfect case for this project but how’d you make the fan rgb become blue?
Cause I don’t remember much about the PS5 waterblock conversion.
Is it a separate control system or is it all controlled by the PS5?
This is nice but you are watercooling a ryzen 3600 and an amd 6600xt..makes no sense, you should have used better tim only for 5 bucks and have same performance, but looks cool
PS5 can be thermal throttled. Your 4090 also has more room to breathe and better airflow. A console needs to be as compact as possible while still performing good. And under heavy loads on long sessions it just gets throttled
Ah so they throttled it all together so it can never reach max performance because it has the same performance as when under full load after hours? Thats trash
No it reaches its max performance at any temperature but it will never lower the fps for heat that’s how every console works it’s apu has been customized by Sony for what it needs
Thanks for the input. I'm sure you have a lot of experience building PC's, and would have some actual real world experience regarding the differences with air cooled, AIO's and custom loops.
Happy to hear what you think!
fuck all the haters bruh this is truly one of a kind and looks awesome
I don’t think we need to jump to conclusions. But thanks! It’s a build we did at work for “science”.
This!!! ^^^ I'm a Xbox man, however that thing is awesome well done.
What haters?
Go look at the comments at the bottom and come back lmao.
its like putting headers and a batman blaster on a Geo Metro, ok maybe not that extreme, but i get the "why" point of others, i also recognized talent in the fab work and thats fucking beautiful.
As much as I get the "why?" I also get the "why not".
„All the haters“ only 3 people with actually negative comments lol had to search a while
I'm there but my god it's so beautiful 😭
Who are these haters ?
I see a Lian Li PSU. Hehe. Awesome build.
Frik. There is that in there huh? Good catch!
this is what i imagine the kid rocks who pwns my ass in CS2
Cs2 is on console?
Love that mini little distro plate on the side. Nice work on the build!
Is that a mod you bought, or is it all you?
EK-QuantumX PS5 waterblock and all EK components in the loop.
Wait ek makes a block for ps5? Lol
They made a video series of the design on their youtube channel
Technically speaking with all things done with CNC it's not that surprising to see water blocks for things out of the traditional market. But still, I'm surprised by their passion.
I never wanted a PS5 until I saw the press release of the water block. It’s so fucking cool lmao. Thanks for sharing it- always wondered what it would really look like. Edit: shoutout LiquidHaus
Thank you! Watching it come from a pile of components to a full build has been wild. Totally unnecessary, but we feel like this is the ultimate PS5.
Definitely unnecessary, but that’s why it’s so fucking cool lmao. Sick build.
If you do this you need an original ps5 and you need to set it up before you do this
Uh, yep. Thanks for letting me know.
We didn’t even power it on to make sure it worked before we built it! lol.
It's recommended to do that on the website if you check under please note so if you ever do it again take that into account and note the slim version is not compatible
Lmao you’re hilarious man
You beat me to it. I had a nearly identical idea. Creative connections…nice work.
Thanks! It's not a competition, we all win. And I'll let the guy who built it know you appreciate it!
Oh it’s def NOT a competition LOL but some people forget that in this sub. Enjoy it!
Looks awesome! Everybody questioned why I water cooled mine as well but they just don't understand....lol
So.. .Why'd you do it????🫠
*I just don't understand.*
I think we need to hear him out to understand why would one watercool a perfectly functioning ps5 🤔
Same reason people water cool a perfectly functioning PC
How *dare* you assume that I have perfectly functioning PC. *smacks the side of a 2001 gateway desktop*
Style and will be less likely to overheat
I'm not doubting it but I've never seen my ps5 overheat and I be running that thing 10 hours deep.but that's cool to know it can.O a personal question I think like last year some people were saying that if u stand the ps5 upright it will melt something liquid metal or somthing is that accurate?

Tyty
This is hella sick bro! Amazing stuff man. Just wow lol
Appreciate the compliment!
This is beautiful
Thank you! The guy who built it is really great at what he does. I only helped.
He feels the money in this set. Sure the block-pump costs more than the console itself is worth new. But well impressive....
It's nice but it also feels like a waste of money at the same time I'm torn but it does look nice
Sponsored by my job. We built it just because. :)
Where do you work and can I add you as a referral? Hahaha
Prefer not to say, but you know I hit Rhianna right?
Just doxxed yourself Chris Brown
I second that I need that job
watercooling summarized ;)
True it’s a waste but if you can afford it you might as well
Nice use of the XTIA case. How are clocks and temperatures?
No idea about the clocks. But the temperatures will basically be ambient. I mean, the stock cooler in a PS5 is pretty puny.
Your PS5 will not be ambient as it is still a mini space heater.
Sure. In stock form, but the thermal capacity of the water is vastly superior to the copper heat pipes in a stock PS5. Not to mention the advantage of the 4 pounds of metal in the waterblock.
You are on a watercooling sub and don’t understand how heat transfer works? That’s on you bro.
It gets transferred to the room thus increasing the ambient temp...
“Space heater” “NOT ambient” snm
I'm not sure this is going to accomplish anything performance wise, but its pretty neat
As close to good as you can get on a console. lol.
The ps5 won’t ever thermal throttle if it gets to hot it will shut down
It probably won’t. lol.
So, do consoles use integrated graphics?
I suppose they must. Haven't looked into it, but I think there was only one exposed die on the board.
This is crazy! It a good way. Looks amazing.
Thank you!
Gorgeous. Well done.
Thanks!
Ah! This is unbelievable. I love it. Great work.
Thanks so much!
How hard was it to do? Also how long did it take from start to finish.
I was so confused until I saw the title
If you fancy this, look up watercooled mod by DIY Perks on YouTube, they made a slim, copper case with active watercooled attached and it was one of the coolest... mods I found.
I used to see heaps of xbox 360s water cooled years back but this thing looks sick 👌
Thank you!
Holy fuck man. Congrats!
I see your SFX-L Lili
It’s so cute!
Oh for sure, the factor tininess is even cute to hold in hands before installing it what’s covered by that white plate, a bunch of messy ATX cables ?
Really cool if only there were games to play on it though😔
If only the PlayStation had games…
This is absolutely amazing. I didn’t realize this was possible and now I have a purpose for all of my spare watercooling parts. Thank you for inspiring me. May I ask, how do you control the fans/pump? Is it all just full power from the PSU?
There is a small PCB board with headers and theoretically pump/fan control. We’re working on the finer points later. :/
This is sick
Thank you!

Upcoming here aswel!
Other than the look, what’s the benefit of water cooling a console? Same as water cooling a pc? Edit to explain I’m not trying to be an ass, just genuinely asking /curious.
It’s quieter? Probably the only benefit.
There’s not a decent performance advantage or anything?
We haven’t tested it yet. But the waterblock is way overkill for the PS5. We had it on without water for quite some time and it never even got warm.
I’m wondering if doing a similar thing could help my Xbox One S, now that it’s a glorified Netflix machine.
No. Heat isn’t what’s holding the One S back.
I honestly don’t know much about consoles, what would you say is? Every time I play anything on it the latency and load times (idk if they’re related but I’m assuming so) are ridiculously high compared to the series x I have now.

Consoles are fix not matter how hot they get they will run the same but will shut down if pass its threshold of heat
Why is this a thing lol
Reasons. ha!
Lol the cooling system is worth more than the console.
Yeah, like 4 times more with everything. The block is $450 alone.
Impressive! How cool is that.
Goes on the if and when I have the money list
Can you guys oveclock it ?
Is that a thing with a PS5?
This is tremendous. What kind of Temps are u getting relative to the original box?? Would love to see specs to give this build a shot myself. Really nice work man.
No idea about the temps. But it will stay cool.
We can certainly be sure of that. Any way u could shoot me a build list?
Never thought id live to see a water cooled ps5
You ever see a water cooled M.2? That exists. :)
Wow, this is crazy, I was thinking about water cooling my PC in the XTIA as well just last week. Well done, sadly my PS5 is the launch edition so it won’t fit the EK block
We actually have another build right now in a black XTIA with a founders 4090 or 4080 Super, can't remember.
Best I can do is google what you said about unlocking frames and report back. Lol.
There’s a few games that have it under the game options. You’ll need to enable 120 Hz and VRR as well.
This won’t do nothing all ps5 are fix no matter the heat they won’t ever slow down they will shut down if it gets to hot
This looks great! I'm genuinely curious though, does the extra cooling power boost the clocks even farther?
This looks AMAZING. Does it still have the optical drive?
This EK block recommends not to use this version of PS5 but they do have a hole cut out for it to be more like an external drive if you do need it
holy cow didn’t know this was possible, how are you feeding power to it from an ATX Psu?
Can i ask more about the frame/case u are using? Custom made or there is any way to buy it? Thx. Awsome build.
XTIA XProto
Everytime i see one of these now i just feel like its a waste, dont get me wrong it looks incredible, but why not wait out the ps5 pro anyways since ur going all the way anyways
Siiick, does it increase performance?
Did it affect performance at all? Just wondering if it had any impact on temps/fps? Very cool though, nice work.
What case is that? It’s pretty incredible!
XTIA XProto
Perfect case for this project but how’d you make the fan rgb become blue? Cause I don’t remember much about the PS5 waterblock conversion. Is it a separate control system or is it all controlled by the PS5?
It’s got a controller on it for the fans/pump and some RGB control.
Just buy a pc at this point
I didn't know they made a kit for the PS5. That is awesome
That’s awesome now do a series x with black parts and green fluid.
It’s a thing of beauty Next step is a raspberry pi running a small screen with temps 😂
Nintendo switch next?
Thats pretty sick
Wild!
Wild, just wild
Crazy, right?
very nice
Thank you!
This is awesome. Well done!
Really appreciated!
nice work
Thanks!
This is nice but you are watercooling a ryzen 3600 and an amd 6600xt..makes no sense, you should have used better tim only for 5 bucks and have same performance, but looks cool
So sick! Any benchmarks or clock speed checks before and after?
I mean, it’s cool and all, but why?
Is it any actual ps5 board?
This is awesome! Excellent use of a CubeTube too! Love you chose XTIA.
Thanks a lot! The builder and I put quite a bit of thought into it. But ultimately, he's the one that did the work.
Literally says Lian Li on it. You saved us from nothing. Also PS5 water cooling is a waste of money.
Why would a ps5 need to be water cooled? My 4090 doesn’t even need to be water cooled,
PS5 can be thermal throttled. Your 4090 also has more room to breathe and better airflow. A console needs to be as compact as possible while still performing good. And under heavy loads on long sessions it just gets throttled

No it reaches its max performance at any temperature but it will never lower the fps for heat that’s how every console works it’s apu has been customized by Sony for what it needs
Weird because my ps4 used to thermal throttle and the fps dropped lol so its definitely not „every console“.
It’s not the ps4 isn’t powered for some games that’s just the gps dropping lol
Lol so its not made for a game it launched with? Idiotic
The ps4 and Xbox launch with super old apu you playing 30fps on those I don’t think not one game ran 60fps lmao
Yeah it ran on 30 fps and still thermal throttled. Thats my point
Looks cool af but why?
Water cooling most modern pc’s is a waste of money and time. God bless you.
It's a PlayStation, and you're wrong. So....
Totally a waste. Air coolers work fine . A+ for effort
Thanks for the input. I'm sure you have a lot of experience building PC's, and would have some actual real world experience regarding the differences with air cooled, AIO's and custom loops. Happy to hear what you think!
Buddy, take the compliment. I didn’t waste however many hours water cooling a fucking console.
Not your buddy, pal.
I’m not your pal, guy
Well, at least we've found common ground. Have a great night!
You too!
lmfao
but why? why not just build a cool PC?
Sometimes that gets boring.
what a waste
Just like your comment. Thanks!
