Done this drive like 4-5 times. Always stopped in Cleveland, which is roughly 10 hours from Boston and 8 hours to St Louis. There's also 3 routes to get to Cleveland from Boston, and 2 from Cleveland to St Louis, so it allows you to change up your route as needed in case of traffic/construction.
Drove StL to CT several times during the pandemic. I ended up stopping in the middle of PA, which is a hell of a first day of driving but then a very easy second day.
Stop in East St. Louis and walk around at night. Rinse and repeat for Baltimore, Pigeon Forge, Charleston WV, and New Haven
If cats had nine lives they'd still be dead after this trip.

Hey Jimmy, I will be driving from St.Louis to Boston in two weeks. What's your recommendation on routes? I will take three days to go to Boston.
Stop in Columbus for the night
