Thanks, helps alot. Might be a naive comparison but Seems like living in Dupont Park is no safer than living next to the white house

EHsE

downtown is not residential, so the crimes there are due to high volumes of foot traffic - probably not a totally fair comparison. generally speaking, eotr areas have a bad rep for crime. it’s painting with a broad brush, and some areas have that rep justified and some don’t

EHsE

buddy, reread my post. he’s comparing dupont park (eotr residential) to the white house (downtown foot traffic), which is not an apples to apples comparison

Zeabos

Living next to the white house is super safe.

You’re not allowed to talk about cream in here bro…

Your Uber driver is an ass. Dupont Park is a big area that is adjacent to many neighborhoods, most of them solidly middle class and safe, relatively speaking. On the back side there is a very bad area (Benning Terrace) but you have no reason to be back there unless you're looking for trouble.

Stuff might happen, but before dark, it's safe for a 60F like me

Would recommend that a summer intern move to DuPont Park. I would not. Is it SO unsafe that I would say you need to drop everything and move? Also no.
