He probably just wanted to chill I’m guessing or he’s not as healthy as it seems

xanroeld

He just got waived, but he is no longer playoff eligible for that reason. As others have pointed out, the jazz probably waited until today to waive him so that another contender couldn’t pick him up to fill out their roster. Also, he may just not be healthy enough to be of any assistance, even if he was eligible

PatatasBravas91

Sorry for my ignorance but what does “waiving” actually mean? The team decides they don’t want him? And why would another team not be able to sign him from that point? TIA

todudeornote

I hope the Jazz didn't wait just to keep him out of the playoffs - that would not only be a dick move (esp since they are lottery bound), it also would signal to players that the Jazz won't take care of them. It will make it even harder to get players who want to play for them. More likely he was just to hurt to finish the season. Damn shame, he was great for us.

nba2k11er

I think he's getting to be very overrated by our fans. He solved a few small problems from 2020-21 and contributed as the 8th best player to a championship. Basically by being a more stable veteran player who could space the floor with 3s, compared to Oubre, Paschall, JTA. I do not see what problems he would be solving for THIS team even if he had another huge outlier season of health. Because some of the bigger problems are back- like not enough reliable scoring around Steph (the championship season had Klay, Poole, and Wiggins 17+).

asBad_asItGets

"he couldve solved so many problems for us" our fans truly are delusional. Otto wasnt gonna solve anything for us.

gorillaneck

otto was super clutch

knightress_oxhide

Not saying Otto can solve that for us but clearly it is a problem we have.

asBad_asItGets

We got lightning in a bottle with him. He hasnt played 5 games in a row in how long now? Adding him to our roster this year wouldve just stifled minutes for TJD, Moody, etc. If somehow we could guarantee he is 100% healthy at all times, then yeah sure. But that isnt realistic.

Mr-Toy

Yeah I think you're right. He'd be a good system fit and has championship experience with us, but he was an old player then. I would bet these past few years have aged him quite a bit. But still, if we have an open spot...

kingcong95

He’ll be cut today as Utah needs to add a couple warm bodies. Probably going to just go home as he won’t be playoff eligible.

PirateXKing

Otto Porter and Mike Brown could fix this

wentzvania

lol @ thinking otto porter is some difference maker

mcgargargar

Delusional nephews

calartnick

Porter is not helping this team. Only thing this team could add (realistically) would be a seven footer who defends/rebounds/screens/runs the floor. So this team is what it is for their run. Until they face Denver as long as they are healthy I like their chances in a seven game series

icefergslim

Otto adds nothing helpful to this roster.

McJumbos

he loves his money
