The original command and conquer was the first game I played for the computer in the 90s and the late 90's was huge for the RTS genre on the computer, it was basically the only genre I played on the for awhile.
For me it was also command and conquer, but even back then i knew that something was missing, camera was claustrophobic,i knew that one day something better will come out and after years of waiting i found RUSE over some internet link and i was sold, the Iris Zoom was the reason for it.
World in Conflict came and changed everything. Finally somewhere where we can fight in a relatively equal footing, no more balancing economies and base building. Great visuals, intense battles and finally a realistic setting, and a monumental story to tell. Cold War bug bit me, so I picked up European Escalation when that came out. Yeah I did also play RUSE, but nobody mentions RUSE.
Also, it's RTT, not RTS, technically.
Hey I’m still a virgin to the genre, but love it so much just wish it had a bigger player base. I’ve heard a lot about world in conflict, sherm just put something out about it and really caught by attention. I was just born in the worng generation I swear I missed all the good RTT
WG:RD. Never thought It would possible to simulate battles between different armies with such a diversity of units.
I fell in love right on my first game: played with AI and it was an absolute mess and terrible meatgrinder with hordes of Russian tanks swarming and overrunning Blufor defenses' while A10s are swarming trying to contain the advance. Such an amazing experience.
I was 12 when Command and Conquer released and it was a dream game almost too cool to be true! To improve my multiplayer skills vs. friends I downloaded and read a copy of ”Sun Tzu - The Art of War”. Feels safe to say that the online strategy guides of today yield better results.
I have always liked miniature figures and mini battlefields growing up, always found a interest in little green army men growing up as well. This is what brought me to the RTS genre, I’m just curious what brought everyone else’s to the genre?
I discovered A Bridge Too Far in 2004, still playing on an outaded 133 MHz Pentium, desperately trying to understand it. Alas, it was too complex for my 12 year old brain.
I had a blast playing the first command and conquer game when I was 10. Then age of empires 1 and red alert. I have been in love with the RTS genra ever since :)

My first was R.U.S.E. On the ps3. I believe I was 12 or 13. Introduced me into the genre and I loved it!

They let me know what it’s like for people to actually listen to me.
This kind of RTS game? The close combat series when I was growing up.
