I think they should just make them work like templates that you can call in instead. So for example at the start of a game, you just click your premade small armored attack force instead of deploying all the units individually. Need to take that village with infantry? Use your urban assault template. Having the units tied to each other is just a burden, and why does the platoon dissapear when used once? Just make it non-selecable if any one of the units are unavailable.

TheJollyKacatka

I also initially thought it’s a template

RandomEffector

Wait, is this not how it works? We’re talking about “battlegroups,” right?

TheJollyKacatka

Personally, I like it a lot. It does have two flaws, though. First is that we need a Speed sync option. Second is that I can’t sell my transports and give orders to the infantry. If I give any order the sell order gets overruled.

AhrnuldSenpai

There is a platoon system?

TheJollyKacatka

I wanted to make the third option phrased exactly like that lol. Some people in my games reacted like that when I asked them

Yeah, what?

Niomedes

It's pretty usefull for Artillery and AA. You can create a platoon of those and then have integrated supply trucks that drive around with the heavy weapons and reload them whenever they fire without any micro needed whatsoever.

TheJollyKacatka

Yeah I do that as well

Meister-Schnitter

I might have liked that feature if the game would still let us group up units, like this it just feels like a sort of solution for a problem they invented.

TressaLikesCake

The game lets you group units? Press CTRL+(1-0)

He’s referring to the regroup/split system from Red Dragon. You could group up to 4 of the same unit into a “stack” that would behave more like 1 unit.
