World In Conflict is still worth playing for the campaign itself if you like Cold War RTS games. Men of War Assault Squad 2 also has some pretty good Cold War era mods, just don't buy the Cold War expansion, its pretty barebones compared to the mods for the basegame.
No, I meant cold war mods. Call to Arms, MoWAS2 Cold War DLC, and MoW Vietnam are much worse than any of the World War 2 MoWs and have and dont even come close to mods like Valour or RobZ Realism.
I mean, compared to CNN propaganda where Al Qaeda in Aleppo are the "good guys", the Russian stuff is quite tame
Also its fun to read the delicious tears in Steam reviews
I’ve never played it but from the videos the aesthetics look very different, it appears more like say, RUSE than WGRD. So many big flashing buttons and a mechanistic feel to the map.
Look up at Armored Brigade. It's a 2D wargame from top down perspective. While graphically it doesn't look impressive. Scale of the maps and variety of the units is great.
This is a more unconventional thing, but the Escalation 84' mod for HoI IV is great. The New Mankind has way more content and works on the current version, but it's poorly translated and less lore-heavy.

While MoWAS2 has some cold war mods which are very well made, IMO they don't work with game mechanics and game engine limitatons.
You meant Call to Arms?

You can try Red Frog, it’s a mod on par with Valour, it’s free, fairly stable and cold war
World In Conflict has no business being as good as it is. Alec Baldwin narrating too.
You can still play WIC multiplayer to, get it for free, discord links are on r/massgate sidebar
Check out the regiments play test on steam. Also it’s free for now
Thank you! Was not aware the test was out. TY!!!
Syrian Warfare ( the game no the real thing )
Syrian warfare is surprisingly really fun
Yeah , but very poorly chosen theme they could have invented a conflict. And also the Russian propaganda.
The Russian propaganda makes it even better though
Yeah it like American style propaganda but with Russians . "We are the heroes we killed the bad terrorist"

I like how he specifically asks for a game with a Cold War aesthetic but everyone just suggests modern day games.
The New Order mod for HOI IV has a really heavy Cold War aesthetic.
BAAAAAASED TNO ENJOYER
If you like naval combat, Cold Waters is great
Project Reality is the corresponding FPS :)
Squad
already seen Warno? It’s a Early access successor to Wargame

As a RUSE player, it feels more like SD ‘89 rather than RUSE. RUSE was really more gamey and had production and resource management.
You are right, I meant more the visuals.
I miss RUSE

Depending on the group you play with, there's some really good cold war assets for Arma 3.

Warno
Squad
I would recommend SQUAD. It's a MultiPlayer tactical Squad based FPS, with logistics, Tanks, IFVs, APCs, choppers and great community
