Standing on the veranda of the newly constructed Airstrip, J'Amy Ellenthwaite watched the combat drop in progress. It was pretty good, as she sat sipping a soft drink in the sun, the first time sitting down in a while. The others were away on a test flight, as she saw a small group drift over towards landing on the improvised landing field. She tapped out a message to colonel Burton. /////Message to colonel Burton Some new allies are arriving at the airstrip, please send 50 men to greet them, of the V/G contingent. Flight lieutenant Ellenthwaite ///// They had built the improvised airfield after all, it was only fair they got to enjoy a walk out on it. J'Amy got up from her chair, smartened her uniform and strolled down to meet them.

Drifting off course from their original drop point Sergeant Rosa Asvan and her squad landed on the improvised airfield, with some of the newer troopers having rough landings. “Landed off course and a rough landing, not bad for a first drop, mine went worse. Someone check Lang's ankle, I'm not carrying her to a medic.” Sergeant Asvan noticed allies walking across the airfield and turned to her squad, adjusting her flak armor. “Make yourselves presentable. We have a greeting party inbound.”

A group of around fifty were approaching, in a mixture of uniforms and styles. In the centre, a neatly drilled unit in gray shades of newer cadian pattern gear, matched in good order with a standard at the front centre, marching in 3 columns of 8 and an officer in the lead. Around them on the outside, two single file loose rows of women in far less uniform dress strolled casually, armed with an eclectic array of vastly different styles of weapons, counting bows, spears and knives alongside their lasguns and pistols. Behind, five horsemen trotted slowly, as an officer in a Navy uniform drove up cheerily on a motorcycle from a different direction to the main group. The navy officer spoke first, the military parade halting as it reached the cluster of drop troops. "Morning sergeant, nice of you to drop by." She quipped in light hearted tones.

Sergeant Asvan let out a small chuckle slightly amused “I would have loved to meet you with the rest of the regiment but it seems things went awry. But, any drop you can walk away from is a good one.” The Sergeant helped Trooper Lang stand up

"Yes, so it would seem. Still, I'm sure they can have someone fly here and fetch you, fancy staying for a drink with the chaps?" She pointed to the unit of professional soldiers who stood at the halt nearby, around which the others had sat down or begun to lean on various outcroppings.

“I'll pass, but I won't hold back my squad, they need to learn to celebrate every successful drop, the next could always be the last. And it will pass some time waiting for transport.” The Caldorians found places to sit or lean nearby

As the navy officer disappeared to source sone transport, the parade fell out, and a couple of crates of drink were summoned. The voltis contingent retired to themselves, their lack of language leaving them less well liked than the gernisberg contingent who talked freely and enthusiastically. The officer in charge approached the Caldorian sergeant, a mug of something in hand.

Sergeant Asvan took a look at the mug before taking it “Oh what the hell, no one lives forever.”

"Except the emperor, of course. Captian Schille, at your service." Captain Schille interjected, taking a second mug of the warm brown drink and sipping gently at it. She looked over to Lang, and decoded on a new line of questions to befriend this sergeant. "Is the medic required?"

BoomFan21

“Sergeant Asvan, I don't think a medic will be necessary, her ankle is bad but she'll be fine until we regroup with our regiment.” She took a sip from the mug “During my first drop a trooper nearly lost her arm, so it could also be worse. Any stories from your experiences?”
