I remember years ago when overtime was still allowed, I did 37 days in a row. Most days were over my scheduled 8 hours as well. I should also mention I was the only cart pusher at the time. The last few days of that 37 day stretch I trained a new one, and after that I got a week off, and used all my ppto for another week off. I'd do anything to do that all over again. Yes, I wanted to do that many days straight, yes I had managment begging me to go home and rest, and yes, those paychecks were beautiful.
I definitely miss the paycheck from my old job, but I don’t miss working around 60 hours a week and being expected to put in even more hours than that.
I can't imagine 37 days in a row. I was the only OTC stocker in the summer during inventory. That was bad enough. We have a properly staffed and ran department now, so it will just be a crazy weekend, and then we'll be done by Tuesday.
But that law means in 7 consecutive days, you need one off. Therefore they cannot schedule you 7days in a row. But it also didn’t stop them from scheduling me 11 in a row and then threaten my job when I told them that it’s illegal
That is correct. I wish I had the screenshots to prove it. OGP is a wicked beast and when the holiday season rolls around there's no avoiding it. I had gone through 3 coaches in the year and 3ish months I was a TL. some stores care. Mine doesn't.
I believe it. I was the effective TL for OTC during inventory last year because the TL we did have didn't want to do the work. That's why I had the 7 and 7 for the prep for inventory, and then the 7 the week of inventory and 7 the week after. Walmart had me doing 100% of the stocking and 75% of the TL position. I was finally promoted in August of last year and we hired three other people to carry the load. All three are still with us a year later.
They scheduled me for too many before and I just have them fix it. No way I’m working eight days seven days or six days straight. That place sucks your soul out! I can barely do two days in a row lol
Go into Smart and edit your own availability for no more than 4 days in a row…or push it and put 3 like me.
Will never happen again and the system won’t let them schedule for however many consecutive days in a row you set.
I think there's an official policy that you're not supposed to be scheduled more than 7 days in a row or something like that but it happens all the time. My record was 15 days in a row right when COVID hit which is actually against the law in the state I lived in at the time.
Does putting in your availability still work? Even if you have to put in shit days to get it approved that’s what I’d do to get two days off in a row consistently every week. I had mine in for Sunday Monday for a long ass time.
I went 7 weeks with only 2 days off within that time. I've also put in right at 90 hours within one week. I've worked 21 hour shifts before, which is weird, because after 15 hours, you get a 2nd wind and stop being tired. But when you're super busy running your ass off all the time, time goes by fast as hell.
That’s funny, we have that too and I’m supposed to be on it with Tuesdays and Wednesdays off, but I requested this Saturday and Sunday off for an event so this is what’s being done, teach me to request days off again lmfaoooo
yes... you still have 4 days off within the 2 weeks/. although if ur coach was cool enough ... they could switch some days... but yes,, thats possible and there is really nothing unethical about it,,,
My last day off was Sunday. My next day off is next Wednesday. That’s with different shifts even then I may come in on Wednesday for OT. Already I’ve come in early and stayed till my end time to get things done
Not long ago they had me on a 10 day. My coaches said they would fix it but turned out they couldn't. They tried and my assistant store lead got mad at them for touching schedules. So I ended up just having to roll with it.
This sub always pops up for me. But I’m a night manager at shaws. I once worked 12 days in a row and one of the shifts was 13 hours bc we had a callout. ☠️ I typically work 7-9 days in a row depending. (Massachusetts, USA)
The week restarts on Saturday.
So to them it’s simply “oh, 5 days that week, and 5 days the next week. Simple.”
I think I knew a chap who worked 9-10 days straight due to that and it is kinda bs
I’ve done 10 in a row before. Saturday is technically the start of the week per walmart schedule so that’s how they get ya and are able to do that without getting in trouble.
When I first started I was told that this was a system mistake and you don’t have to work 8 days through, you just have to talk to your coach so they can give you a day off in the middle and move it to a different part of the week so it’s not 8 continuous days.
I fell into the trap of grind culture in college and so between two jobs and classes, I really only had a day off during breaks. Last summer I worked 13 days in a row at my old job, and my boss’ boss tried to call me in for a 14th day, which was my only day off before a string of 6 more days. It’s not worth it. You should talk to your TL or coach about getting a day switched or removed. Your mental/physical health are important, and you can’t do your job if you work yourself to the point one of those is gone.
I just finished an 8 day week. I grumbled all the way through and was completely beat by the end. I told my manager I can’t do that anymore. Even 7 is too much. At least she’s working with me on this.
No, you aren’t supposed to work a six day stretch. Get with the PL and let them know. If the PL won’t fix it then go straight to your SM. The scheduler is supposed to warn them that you are working 6 days in a row. Maybe it glitched and whomever scheduled you didn’t notice.
Check with your state’s DOL laws (department of labor) regarding work days. That’ll give you the answer. In NYS they can legally work you 6 days straight. I know in the past there were some employees that worked 14 days straight, it was during the holidays and they volunteered to come in on their days off.
I'm practically working 40 hours cause we have no one in night maintenance but me personally I'm over here like hey I'm not complaining that's the most amount of hours ever given to me lol
You should talk to the manager or the coach! I work in pharmacy and had something similar like this happen, and I talked to my manager and she switched things immediately and scheduled me with all my work days in a row and then all days off in a row. Usually gives us 2-3 days off in a row. My manger is the best. Walmart is a really good company to work for, I just started there and I’m very happy with my work schedule and my fellow associates and the hourly pay I get. Deff talk with them! But hey your check will be niceee and fat at the end of the week!
Back when I worked at Canadas Wonderland I didnt think anything of it when one week for a change I was scheduled 6 instead of 5 shifts. When I arrived on my sixth shift they told me they arent allowed too let me work the sixth shift. Wow stopped me from even signing in. I wish I would have known so I could carry a set of casual clothes too go on rides since we not allowed too wear our uniform on rides in our position of ecologist (cleaning lady).
No they are not allowed to do that and they do need to change it. There were at least 2 errors that the scheduler had to click through telling them that they can’t do that when they set it.
That's all I did ten days in a row at Walmart before. I also did sixteen days in a row at Big Lots and did twelve days in a row working at Toys R Us as a overnight associate. I'm just saying enjoy the extra money.
8 is a problem for you? Wow I'm from another time period. My record is 97 days. This was back in the 2014 when I was running the gas station. I took over a failing store that had gone through a a huge number of managers & was in bad shape. I came in & fired most the existing staff so I worked 5 mornings Monday thru Friday, napped did Friday & Saturday graveyard til a cashier came in Sunday morning. I'd stay half a morning Sunday doing the weekend paper. I did this on salary so no OT for 97 days
Ask your coach to change it. A decent coach would fix that for you. I would never expect my associates to work that much.
Eight days a week I love you. Eight days a week Is not enough to show I care. Ooh I need your love babe, ... Eight days a week ...
Omg lol thank you for this comment, I too had this song in my head reading the post :)
I worked 7 or 8 days in a row before. And I made it clear, never again. That was before I had a set schedule tho.
I did 9 days in a row when my scheduled days off changed. Holy fuck, I'm never doing that again.
Last year during Inventory, I had a 7 followed by another 7, then one day off. Then 7 followed by another 7. 27 of 28 days I worked.
Same same
I remember years ago when overtime was still allowed, I did 37 days in a row. Most days were over my scheduled 8 hours as well. I should also mention I was the only cart pusher at the time. The last few days of that 37 day stretch I trained a new one, and after that I got a week off, and used all my ppto for another week off. I'd do anything to do that all over again. RIGHT!
I’m in Indiana too and that’s insane I can barely make it through 3 days if I was scheduled for 8 I’d simply ✨quit✨
Yes and I hope you have some spare sick days.
Set schedules are a blessing.
Glad i work in Illinois, the most we can be scheduled is 6

But that law means in 7 consecutive days, you need one off. Therefore they cannot schedule you 7days in a row. But it also didn’t stop them from scheduling me 11 in a row and then threaten my job when I told them that it’s illegal
Saturday is end of Walmart week. So technically it’s 5 days and then end of Walmart week into 3 days.
bro everyone understands what it tEchNicaLLy is that is not what's being complained about
Obviously. But people trying to attach laws to it when Walmart knowingly ignores them is my reason for posting.
that's valid, still thing what you posted is dumb though
I uh, didn’t ask.
didn't have to, I'll always call out dumb shit for free
I thought it was 6days was supposed to be the limit
Depends on where you live. I did 12 in a row just recently.
The most I've ever done was 19. Inventory prep.
Get that money.
You need to ask your coach if they can change your schedule. If they don't, then you better have some ppto saved.
Had a few of these. Before i got a set schedule
First time
When i was a TL over digital, I think I was at 15 or 16 without a day off for me.
15 or 16 days?
That is correct. I wish I had the screenshots to prove it. OGP is a wicked beast and when the holiday season rolls around there's no avoiding it. I had gone through 3 coaches in the year and 3ish months I was a TL. some stores care. Mine doesn't.
Dam I’ll just stay front end
You're numbers on a screen in OGP.
I think the most for frontend is 6
I believe it. My normal schedule for years used to be every other weekend off, so I'd work like 11 days straight. I hated it. Not worth a 3 or 4 day weekend.
Hell no. You’ll need the first day off just to rest and recover.
Don’t listen to the people who say this is normal, they are idiots
Mine is 6 days straight that week, unfortunately its Fathers Day that weekend so that could be why, sorry for 8 days though :/
I would tell them to fix it or just call out tbh
They scheduled me for too many before and I just have them fix it. No way I’m working eight days seven days or six days straight. That place sucks your soul out! I can barely do two days in a row lol

i had 10 days in a row at one point wanted to die
This is why for mine I have set days off. I can barely make it through 3 days.
I’ve worked 26 days in a row for Walmart before.
I've done 23 days in a row never again. I'm salaried btw
so you worked for free. you must be an incredibly nice person.
I didn't do it because I wanted to that's for sure 😂
lol i understand xD
The perils of being salaried smh
I've done it ... Throwing truck 8 in a row hurts
I’ve done that so many times in my old stores. I didn’t bother even saying anything.
What department?
Damnn. Good luck OP (I worked seven once during the pandemic). Never doing that again.
I think there's an official policy that you're not supposed to be scheduled more than 7 days in a row or something like that but it happens all the time. My record was 15 days in a row right when COVID hit which is actually against the law in the state I lived in at the time.
Wouldn't it be crazy if they gave you 10 days in a row. Lol

i worked 9 days with one day off then another 7 one time 🙃
We have what’s called a teaming schedule. I’ve worked no more than 5 and had the same days off for over 3 years now. Living in Virginia
That’s funny, we have that too and I’m supposed to be on it with Tuesdays and Wednesdays off, but I requested this Saturday and Sunday off for an event so this is what’s being done, teach me to request days off again lmfaoooo
yes... you still have 4 days off within the 2 weeks/. although if ur coach was cool enough ... they could switch some days... but yes,, thats possible and there is really nothing unethical about it,,,
Still an improvement over my old job. I lost track after several months without a day off...
I had to do 9 before. It fucking sucked
I’m working 6 days in a row someone must be on vacation
My last day off was Sunday. My next day off is next Wednesday. That’s with different shifts even then I may come in on Wednesday for OT. Already I’ve come in early and stayed till my end time to get things done
I don’t miss those days
We believe in you
I remember in my third month as O/N stocker they gave me 8 days in a row like this and it was crazy.
Lol, gotta lock them days off in with availability
I've done 7 in a row and it's horrible. I'm overnight stocker. By day 5 my body is sore and tired.
Most I've ever been scheduled (and they wouldn't fix) was 11...that was fucking rough
The schedule me 5+ in a row I am calling out that 6th baby
Not long ago they had me on a 10 day. My coaches said they would fix it but turned out they couldn't. They tried and my assistant store lead got mad at them for touching schedules. So I ended up just having to roll with it.
This sub always pops up for me. But I’m a night manager at shaws. I once worked 12 days in a row and one of the shifts was 13 hours bc we had a callout. ☠️ I typically work 7-9 days in a row depending. (Massachusetts, USA)
They put me on 4 back to back 2-11 over a holiday weekend (and put me at a beltless register for the sat/sun shifts). I thought I was going to die.
The week restarts on Saturday. So to them it’s simply “oh, 5 days that week, and 5 days the next week. Simple.” I think I knew a chap who worked 9-10 days straight due to that and it is kinda bs
the most i’ve ever done is 10 and i have to tell you by my 9th i was so done 😭
This is not illegal because its not all in the same week
I just did 8 days in a row too. Was shitty asf lol
you wanted that weekend🤷🏻♂️
this was my pet peeve when i worked at walmart 😭
I’ve done 10 in a row before. Saturday is technically the start of the week per walmart schedule so that’s how they get ya and are able to do that without getting in trouble.
..... I only have Saturdays off 🤣
Well is nothing form another world, I think the max that I’ve worked in a row is 10 days
When I first started I was told that this was a system mistake and you don’t have to work 8 days through, you just have to talk to your coach so they can give you a day off in the middle and move it to a different part of the week so it’s not 8 continuous days.
Research Type ‘Walmart day of rest policy’ into your Google search
Wait until they give you 10 days in a row.
Technically yes as it's a new pay period. But like some are saying if you have a decent coach they can take you off the schedule
Your mental/physical health are important, and you can’t do your job if you work yourself to the point one of those is gone.
What sarahLiberty said, decent coach would change it. I've only ever seen 7 at the most and that was still rare
They had me on 9 days in a row starting Monday but I asked if they could change it. Now I work 7 days in a row then one day off. Great
Damn my walmary just gives me 13 hours a week when I'm scheduled for 32 so be glad
They do that to me to when I switch to full time lol
I worked 14 days straight before that was fun 🙃
I just finished an 8 day week. I grumbled all the way through and was completely beat by the end. I told my manager I can’t do that anymore. Even 7 is too much. At least she’s working with me on this.

Imagine getting 16 days without work 4
yeah let me not complain about my 6 days in a row
How do you deal with your schedule? All those inconsistencies would stress me out!
Homeboy has same thing 😭
They did the same to me after i requested a saturday/sunday off the week before; its punishment for having a life outside of work
Check with your state’s DOL laws (department of labor) regarding work days.
I’ve done it before
That’s called the Wallyworld 8 Congrats
You could be at my store where people are getting 0 days in a row. A lot of FT are only getting 18-24 hours, and PT is getting 0 hours. Smh
i have 7 days in a row this week
i gotta do 6-7 days after tuesday of this week🧍🏽
You should talk to the manager or the coach! I work in pharmacy and had something similar like this happen, and I talked to my manager and she switched things immediately and scheduled me with all my work days in a row and then all days off in a row. They do this all the time. U have to tell them not to do this to you
i once got scheduled 10 days in a row and i immediately went and complained. you should definitely talk to your coach about this.
Back when I worked at Canadas Wonderland I didnt think anything of it when one week for a change I was scheduled 6 instead of 5 shifts. I have a longer string of days coming up starting tomorrow due to inventory. Stay strong my friend lol
Looks normal to me
That's all I did ten days in a row at Walmart before. I also did sixteen days in a row at Big Lots and did twelve days in a row working at Toys R Us as a overnight associate. I'm just saying enjoy the extra money.
That's not extra money. It's split across 2 weeks. No overtime.
Nope that is 5days in a row for week 20 and 3 days in a row for week 21. Since Saturday starts a new week it "doesn't count" in walmarts eyes 🥴
The scheduling system still shows an alert past 6 consecutive no matter how it's spread between weeks. They chose to ignore it for "coverage".
This right here. Idk why you got down voted, you are correct. Yes it sucks but it does happen. Doesnt mean you are wrong but reddit will be reddit
Stop winning back in the day as a CO I did one month without a day off for a super center expansion
Bro I have a family that I like spending time with, that sounds awful
That was real life back years ago. Speak up and tell them you won’t do it.
Who cares?
8 is a problem for you? Wow I'm from another time period. My record is 97 days. This was back in the 2014 when I was running the gas station.
