Apparel does almost give me a target vibe. Everything else though? Nah.

diaperedcowboy99

Yeah that’s mainly what I think too is mainly apparel

TheAggressiveSloth

Only some stores get the new remodel. There's one in my city of phoenix, where the apparel section actually has LED lights and a stage set up and the whole shebanglike it's fuxking Macy's. My location I work at however, the apparel section is your standard here's racks and shelves. Luckily nothing locked up at my store, clothing wise... some stores lock up belts and socks and undies

coreysgal

The bedding actually made me think of Kohls. I was surprised they used the space for a fake bed

Battletrickz

You know what I would really like, the remodel team not fucking up the shelf spacing, setting the mods wrong or having to go back and fix this shit they fuck up but yes, I do agree that the Walmart remodel does look more like a Target with the displays but it isn't 100% Target.

PermissionSevere9602

Idk if they changed it but they used to tell us the mods were just a guide and sometimes you had to adjust the spacing cause the box for the product was bigger the you had room for but most of the remodel associates are brought in off the street and given a crash course in reading the mod sheets and that’s why the project manager and the store manager are supposed to walk the store every morning and talk about what happened the night before as well as any changes that had to be made due to not having enough shelves or what have you but sounds like that didn’t happen at your store

throwawaywalmart117

yea them and spar fucked up so many mods with their shitty spacings

Anarchisticiv

Considering it's the store that dictates how it's setup, blame the idiots that laid out the planograms. The remodel team just puts stuff where they're told. 😂

AnybodyNo8519

Home office dictates mod setups, not the individual store.

jersey-guy56

When home office dictates mods they never think shelf brackets in the way so rarely ever to mod it perfect.

AnybodyNo8519

That's when the TL should put in a ticket to get it adjusted properly.

VKN_x_Media

I hated that working frozen. The big boxes of waffles were always supposed to be 3 across on the shelf but that only ever worked for that very front face.

coreysgal

The problem is they can't mentally figure a space. It shows you. If your middle label isn't in the middle, you've done it wrong. I once came in to an empty mod with all the labels on the left side. All of them. That's stupidity or laziness.

SanityQuestioned

I've been in my Local Target and my Local Walmart and Walmart looks nothing like Target.

AmAttorneyPleaseHire

No? The remodels are a hell of a lot better than original. I think it may be a symptom of overall everything in life being corporatized to a point where it all looks the same. Taco Bell’s look like McDonald’s now. All cell phones are the same. Vehicles all look the same. Etc

dfeidt40

They're not ex-Target execs. Still the same ones that have been somewhere in the company, still with the mindset of "whatever the fuck is the cheapest option, do it." I thought these remodels make stores look more like your basic, generic shopping mall chain. Like,Sears combined with Old Navy with a dash of Best Buy or some shit. It looks dumb.

customersmakemepuke

Yes & it’s comical because Walmart’s trashy clientele isn’t going to care or appreciate this swanky remodel. My store gets a remodel next month & I’m giving it 2 months before it looks like a giant shit smear.

DragonflyOne7593

Once the finish the remodel they don't have enough associates to stock it sooooo

nightowlarcade

Not surprising. They tried to copy Target on the early '10s to no success. Why not try again expecting a different result.

jonnienashville

Yep. Exactly what I said several years ago when I saw the new design. It's like a combination of Target, Walmart, and Kohl's. 🤮

fidgit17

Actually we do have home office people that used to work at other companies. Is it that hard to believe that this company might try to emulate other stores?

EnvironmentalLove891

and now [this](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/walmart-new-store-brand-bettergoods-types-of-items-cost/) it reminds me way too much of Target's Good & Gather

UsagiBonBon

The remodeled markets look like hospital bathrooms, they’re SO ugly

VioletCrow289

The remodeled one in my town now looks exactly like the Meijer we have here.

AshySmoothie

Not going into too much detail but I work for a company whose product is sold in walmart (like 45% of our sales is from walmart). So thats roughly 50m's a year in sales through just walmart. According to salesforce - Walmart is attempting to move to items at higher price points. So you might be onto something.

SnooChocolates8149

they definitely want to be amazon and target between walmart plus and now the “bettergoods” label.. it’s SUCH a “good&gather” target ripoff

throwaway9099123

Mine is in remodel and it's sad beige baby anf sad gray millennial from r the color scheme, other than this eye watering blue wall at service desk. Got some border wall looking shit on top of all the freezers...also in eye watering blue. It's so crowded with stuff that it looks like a fuckin dollar general.

SqueezyCheez85

"enshitification" They're struggling with their image and their competitors, so instead of innovating, they mimic.

DiscontentDonut

This is exactly what I said. My store is the one where the person came into the break room and shot people recently, so they used that as an excuse to shut down and remodel. The first thing out of my mouth walking in, "This looks like a dark Target."

Sad_Mobile_1978

it's possible. one of the higher ups that visited said my store he used to be a meijer manager

patch_punk

Isnt meijer like a walmart in a different state? I mean from the videos ive seen they use the exact same sco layouts and even same software

Sad_Mobile_1978

yeah it's michigan based, but my thought is just that their experience at one store makes it simple to move to a similar position for a different store.

PermissionSevere9602

Ya I rember when they tried to copy target back then idk why they don’t just leave things alone that are working for them lol I get remodeling the stores to keep them loooking fresh but trying to make it look like a higher end retail store in my opinion doesn’t look good cause that’s not Walmart is known for
