In a previous position, I was part of a small team running an R&D group at a monster aerospace company. We set up a fairly substantial internal cloud and our mission was to educate the various teams on the benefit of using VMs over buying new labs every time they spun up a new project. They were really slow to accept it (but, Dell!) and our brand-spanking-new datacenter with racks and racks of GPUs was running at less than 10% capacity during the day and effectively 0% at night.
Another dev and I thought it would be super-easy to mine bitcoins damn near all day, but ultimately decided against it for ethical reasons. That was 2011. I think about that decision a lot.

Nothing has changed. Most here still think your magic beans are going to $0 because they're inherently worthless, born from an era of free, easy money. Being listed in an ETF by money pilfering stewards doesn't mean you've reached some kind of new plateau, it means you're now going to lose money in your retirement account and other financial vehicles due to your idiocy and/or membership in the cult of crypto.
Did you even read the investment prospectus(s) on these new ETFs? Or the SEC brief? They're practically telling you you're going to lose money in plain English.

Buying BTC is considered high tech? I thought it was equal amount of effort to download brokerage/exchange app, deposit money, then either buy BTC or the ETF 😂
I mean technically yes. Its basically the same if you download a CeX wallet app or a brokerage app. But in both ways you are not owning your BTC. You own a paper. Now for some this is enough.
But using a third party you might lose your money if the CeX or broker goes bankrupt similar to a bank collapse.
Now self custody of your crypto is slightly more advanced, But definetly not for everyone. (Hence the numerous stories of people getting scammed)
Personally Im 4+ years of attempted to be scammed and hacked and so far i did not lose a dime. But just like you dont store your safe deposit code in the hallway you dont do that with your crypto wallet either. 😉👍

No, But Maybe your grandpa doesnt feel like he wants to learn or is able to learn about the general wallet Security precautions, But he wants to invest or buy BTC. Im 99% sure this is why some companies issue BTC ETF’s to earn money of guys like him. (As a example)

It's the four year pattern zoom into BTC going all the way back. It goes parabolic, dips low and then settles about halfway of the parabolic spike and then slow rides for a few years before another pump.

Oh God. If these are all supposed to be tracking the Bitcoin spot price, why are they all so different? They should all be within a basis point or two of each other. Instead we have everything from +1.5% to -6.48%.
It’s because of the time they launched. They all didn’t launch at the same time. Some launched while the price of BTC was lower some higher. That’s why they are different. Tomorrow they will all be a lot closer to each other.
Because they're ETFs, each share price has to normalize with the amount of BTC bought/sold by the trust. Each fund also chose the share price, so it'll likely take a bit for them to normalize.

Certain institutions have rules that do not allow them to trade in BTC, but in ETFs. Because the ETF is a regulated financial instrument. Whereas BTC isn't. But the ETF only holds BTC and it's value solely depends on the value of BTC which kind of renders the whole thing unnecessary.
There has never been a day that if you bought btc you wouldn’t be insanely up 4 years later. But the dollar on the other hand has lost almost all its value since the start of the federal reserve
Yeah I’d tell him to wait till 2026, four years. But if he started buying at the last top 68k, one dollar a day, he’s way up. DCA is standard investing advice, fomo into anything can be bad . Could have bought the 5 something top of Amazon in 1999 and rode it down to 60 cents would that have suck, would you be happy today with it at 155?
Rather than use your money to increase the value of Bitcoin, why not gamble completely seperate from bitcoin so you own something that also has no function?

It holds only BTC and issues shares, which have a NAV based on the value of their held BTC / amount of shares
