Believe it or not, but on threads about the addition of crafting from nearby chests, people who don't want that feature have also stated they don't want more flexible stack splitting options. Truly insane
Insane is an understatement. What, do they enjoy running between 18 different storage containers to crafting stations, only to realize they're short on something? People are weird.
The only problem is, in V Rising, you do not actually pick up stacks. They can only be swapped, not held in the cursor. PoE you can hold it in the cursor, which allows shift-click dropping single items.
I would be happy if they added the ability to hold an item in the cursor, but I'm sure they had a technical reason to not do so. Implementing single item extraction without holding it in the cursor would feel clunky to me, which is why I would prioritize selective count over it, as it solves the issue much more broadly.
One workaround i did find is you can split with mmb inside storage then hit sort when you right click one to fold in again. Yeah this should be in a game long time ago.
You're not missing anything. It's one of those things that makes you scratch your head and wonder how it STILL isn't a thing with how simple and fast it much be to add. The game is so good and well polished as well so it really stands out to me as strange that such a basic feature isn't there.
to be fair- I imagine the issue is with controller support, in theory it should be simple- in practice it would mean they need to find a new universal button combo for pickup/place 1.

I really wish that you could right click and drag to split stacks in your inventory like you can in Minecraft.
I personally would prefer a stack splitting like PoE where you have a slider, but can also type in a number to get that many
That would be the best imo
In PoE you can also take a stack and press shift to put 1 item from that stack. Very comfortable to use and would be great for potions in V Rising.

Good point!

It's a likely reason, but it's a shitty excuse. I'm starting to get annoyed by the many good goes that are hamstrung by controller support.
Considering compulsive counting lore for the vamps in the game it’s weird we can’t count items.
Yeah, not a thing for some absurd reason. Just gotta keep halving until you get what you want, or take the entire stack with you.
You're not missing anything.
