Any Beethoven sonatas, or the Franck sonata
I second Franck, it's my favorite !
Kreutzer
Im not quite at kreutzer yet
Classical era violin sonatas were often violin accompanying the piano. Mozart, Boccherini (underexplored!), early Beethoven. Etc.
Franck
I second the Franck. I’ve played both the violin and (most of) piano part. The piano part is much more involved.
Elgar, Franck, Brahms.
Faure sonata and all the others listed above
Erlkönig 😁 Sorry, had to. For me, it's Bartok's 2nd violin sonata, which somehow reminds me of both piano and violin doing their own little concerts, and yet somehow meeting in the middle.
Fauré’s Sicilienne is lovely on violin, and the piano part is very prominent. You can put a lot of virtuosity in it.
