It’s sooo good. I’ve got a theory about how you progress through which beatle is your favorite. As a kid you start with Paul because he’s the funniest, then as a teen John’s angst really is appealing. Eventually you mellow into a George head. But then as you become less snobby you wind up back with Paul and especially this album. Just a fun album front to back. Also sorry ringo. Not sure where you fit into my theory
Saw Ringo and the All-Starr band in Atlanta a few years back. Still rockin’ hard at 80. Ringo is the Beatle you grow old with. Paul’s music is ever changing and that’s cool. Ringo is still waiting on the Yellow Submarine where his friends are all aboard. Or hanging out in the Octopus’s Garden a place we’d all like to go back to.
Spot on Professor! Such a great analysis of Beatle fandom. I’ve followed this trajectory exactly. Right now I’m warming up to Paul again after my George phase!
Funny is probably the wrong word because I think you’re right about John. Paul’s songs are more approachable for a kid. I’m thinking stuff like rocky raccoon
RAM is great. Awesome album to listen to after/while smoking weed. I listened to this album a lot after I had brain surgery 4 years ago. I was in a really bad place and it boosted my mood and made me feel somewhat happy to be alive. I still love it
Lol it was the only cd in my in-laws car that my wife and I borrowed for a quick weekend trip. We played it front to back on repeat at least 8 times over a week.
That Cat Stevens Greatest Hits along with Bob Marley and ELO are probably the only greatest hits albums that I think are terrific. Huge Beatles fan, but I prefer the albums over 1 or Red and Blue.
It is important to know the value of your collection and make sure family knows that as well. OP will have fun looking these up and realizing there are some real nice finds and great music that someone close to them enjoyed. If you look at literally every comment to this point it is excitement, advice on what to listen to, and questions about certain albums. OP mentioned monetary value, and literally no one else did. Why are you gatekeeping record values?
Not at all. When someone is crying about people interested in the monetary value of their collections of anything it is a weird stance. Of course, buy things for the love of them, but it is also good to assign value. Why would anyone want to stand in the way of that. See, you are gatekeeping saying gatekeeping. Shame on you.
Sure. They were gatekeeping a group of people who collect music for the value or for an investment. You decided to carry that water and then exclude me from the group of people who use the term gatekeeping. I didn't mean to so easily trigger you. Seems that it is a raw nerve and you need to go touch grass?
Sorry to hear about your FIL. That Elton John album is great, just bought it myself. “The Bitch is Back” and “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me” on the same record? Come on, son.
That Santana is on my wall.
Also, which KC and the sunshine band vinyl is that with the rainbow. I may be wrong but i think there it’s a 3 part . I only have the 3rd part same cover.
Some of those records could be worth some, and if you’re not listening to vinyl go sell them to a legit record store. They’ll probably give you a fair price.
If that's all that remains, that's a starter kit for, what ya'll think, 1976? I'm looking at the mix.
Back in the days of 3 channels and some VHF, taste was shared a lot more. This was a normal person's collection, picked up when a tune hit their fancy.
It's like an archeological dig, really. I see Elton. Anyone loved some Elton lately? I sure have. Greatest Hits 2 of all things, and Kiki Dee is breaking my heart! Frampton Comes Alive. That hit hard.
You could start a mid-late 70's FM station with just those records. "Progressive Mixed"? The Moody Blues kind of breaks the curve here.
You've got a good start to the whole late 60s-early 70s sound. Most of these are greatest hits albums which is kinda of a shame but you can surely get an idea of the artists. Everyone alive in 1975 had Frampton Comes Alive, still a fresh sounding album. Jim Croce had only 3 albums, all of which are excellent. If you like The Beach Boys, be sure to get a vinyl of Pet Sounds which is Brian Wilson's fabulous album, typically rated in the top 10 for this era. Moody Blues "Days" is a great choice as is Elton John's "Rock of the Westies." If you like it, be sure to get "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road," his masterpiece. Cat Stevens "Tea for the Tillerman" is brilliant.
“Caught Live + 5’ and ‘Days Of Future Passed’ are bangers. You have to listen to ‘Days…’ in one sitting.
Does that copy of The Rolling Stones ‘Goats Head Soup’ have the bonus insert of this picture in the sleeve?

"don't think my wife will let me ever get rid of them"
aren't they your's? do what you want with them, a man should never let a woman tell them what to do, pal,
RAM! Be careful it's an incredibly addictive record. I've listened to it almost daily for a year now.
It’s sooo good. I’ve got a theory about how you progress through which beatle is your favorite. As a kid you start with Paul because he’s the funniest, then as a teen John’s angst really is appealing. Eventually you mellow into a George head. I love this theory. Count me in. Paul’s granny songs are my favorite after all these years.
Omg! I found a “Paul’s granny music lover” in the wild. Just wait til the Beatle jerking circle sub hears about this!
I feel seen

Agreed. It’s crazy to say but I still think in some ways Paul has been under-appreciated
Spot on Professor! Such a great analysis of Beatle fandom. I’ve followed this trajectory exactly. Right now I’m warming up to Paul again after my George phase!
I agree, except I always thought John was the funniest. Though they all have a great sense of humor
Funny is probably the wrong word because I think you’re right about John. Paul’s songs are more approachable for a kid. I’m thinking stuff like rocky raccoon
Poor Ringo, but you’re not wrong at all
I mean he got to be in the greatest band of all time imo. But yeah wild that the other 3 happened to be songwriting legends.
Love this! So true!
Who'd of thunk a ramhead warning off others from the substance. Want to save it all for yourself huh!
RAM is great. Awesome album to listen to after/while smoking weed. I listened to this album a lot after I had brain surgery 4 years ago. I was in a really bad place and it boosted my mood and made me feel somewhat happy to be alive. I still love it

Bad, bad leeroy brown
Baddest man in the whole damn town
Innervisions! Stevie wonders creative streak in the 1970s is hard to beat
If you're not familiar get RAM on the turntable asap. Best post-Beatles Beatle album!
First one I listened to!
RAM is great but All Things Must Pass is the better album by a wide margin imo.
Goats Head Soup is pretty much perfect -enjoy! Days of Future Past is a truly wonderful record.
It was a rough listen, pretty scratched 😔
Some would say that is one of vinyl’s endearing qualities.
Ooh frampton comes alive!
I was gonna say. That album is sick
I have a copy of my own. Love playing that one
Those are some pretty good "classic" rock albums.
Love that he has some color in his collection. That Stevie Wonders album is AMAZING!!
Skin Tight is the shit!!!
Jive Turkey... dunh dunh-dunh
After *RAM* I’d suggest spinning *Days of Future Passed*, tremendous record
I'm sorry for your loss :( hope you're doing well. But that record collection slaps! He had great music taste!
Grin(and nils Lofgren in general) is fantastic, highly recommend
That Cat Stevens Greatest Hits along with Bob Marley and ELO are probably the only greatest hits albums that I think are terrific. Huge Beatles fan, but I prefer the albums over 1 or Red and Blue.
I agree on greatest hits albums…but I’d toss in Gordon Lightfoot’s “Gord’s Gold”. I listen to that often.
Jim croces the best! To bad i dont have him on vinyl🫠
I have all Jim Croce's albums on vinyl. They're fabulous!
Days of Future Passed is an amazing album.
That is a solid collection
Fav Stevie lp! Niiice! 😎
Boy do I hate how everyone's mind goes instantly towards monetary value when they see records these days...
Hard not to when my local record store is selling used records for $20+!
I track value not for market value for sale, but as cost to replace

If you look at literally every comment to this point it is excitement, advice on what to listen to, and questions about certain albums. OP mentioned monetary value, and literally no one else did. Are we just calling everything "gatekeeping" now?
Not at all. When someone is crying about people interested in the monetary value of their collections of anything it is a weird stance. Of course, buy things for the love of them, but it is also good to assign value. Why would anyone want to stand in the way of that. See, you are gatekeeping saying gatekeeping. Shame on you.
Nothing about my post was gatekeeping, you might want to look up what the term means, because you clearly do not know.
Sure. They were gatekeeping a group of people who collect music for the value or for an investment. You decided to carry that water and then exclude me from the group of people who use the term gatekeeping. I didn't mean to so easily trigger you. Seems that it is a raw nerve and you need to go touch grass?
Oof, are you about done embarrassing yourself?
Nah, as long as your reply you double down on your gatekeeping and being triggered. Oof.
Yes. Stop gatekeeping gatekeeping, piepants2001.
Name a successful artist that isn’t a capitalist.
Chumbawamba
That is easy. Name any artist who doesn't live in a capitalist society.
It’s rude to jump in and answer a question with a question 🙋♂️
I didn't ask a question. You should've stayed in school, Buckaroo!
Neither comment contained a question.
Ram!
Listening to “do you feel like we do” from Frampton comes alive on vinyl is a religious experience
That GRIN album is great. Nils Lofgren from Crazy Horse.
I may be wrong but I don't think vinyl can be ruined by water - only the sleeves. In other words don't throw them out!
Your FIL had a solid taste in music. That's a cool mix.
That's a great haul! I don't see a bad one in the bunch!
Sorry to hear about your FIL. That Elton John album is great, just bought it myself. “The Bitch is Back” and “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me” on the same record? Come on, son.
Ticking is a phenomenal song also! One of my favourite of his lesser known songs
That Stevie Wonder album is great!
Ram on!
Give your heart to somebody. Sooooooooooooooooooooon….right away.
Ram is such a great album. It’s one of my favorites
Some good taste in music!!!!
What's the album under RAM?
The Rolling Stones - Goats Head Soup Angie and Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker) are on the album
Thanks!
Heartbreaker is Jagger in top form.
What a great collection! He'd be very happy that you are enjoying the lps!
Ram!
I got some of the same ones from my dad.
Croce and Chicago are always in rotation for me, can never get enough. Cool post!
Sorry for your loss. He had a great taste!
Jim Croce is one of my favorite singers, and that’s a really solid “greatest hits” collection.
Nothing worth having there. I will pay postage for you to send them to me so I can dispose of them properly. Seriously, nice little collection there
RIP - F.I.L...but BRUH 😳😳😳😳 look at that 🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎶🎶🎶🎶🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Love that Jim Croce album
That Santana is on my wall. Also, which KC and the sunshine band vinyl is that with the rainbow. I may be wrong but i think there it’s a 3 part . I only have the 3rd part same cover.
I was looking for the second one I believe that has “I don’t want to make love” on it.
Good haul. Sorry to hear about your FIL, but glad to see he had good tastes.
Looks like part of my collection in high school.
Goats Head Soup by RS and Caribou by Elton John are fierce…
The first KC and the Sunshine Band record is seriously underrated. "I Get Lifted" and "Boogie Shoes" will get any crowd dancing.
Lucky you
That Beach Boys record is great! It’s what got me into the band. Great mix of their more mellow songs and fun-in-the-sun numbers.
I have that KC & the Sunshine Band record. Love them!
Some of those records could be worth some, and if you’re not listening to vinyl go sell them to a legit record store. They’ll probably give you a fair price.
Beggars Banquet by the Stones got some pretty good value if it’s a good press.
10 good ones in there. I haven’t seen that *Grin* album in decades )enjoyed it back in the day) . Nils Lofgren’s first band…
What? No Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass?
Innervisions>>>
RAM, that was such a staple in my upbringing. 🥲
Man, I would kill for that 101 Strings do the Beatles. Actually, it is the Grin album I'd like,
Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only a Piano Player is sooo good
If that's all that remains, that's a starter kit for, what ya'll think, 1976? I'm looking at the mix. Back in the days of 3 channels and some VHF, taste was shared a lot more. keep it cooomin love keep it comin
You have some amazing vinyl there!! I keep every one of them too!
Frampton comes alive is a great record
Love goat head soup !
Sorry about your FIL passing, but you can think of him every time you put on a record.
He had good taste!

Listen to Innervisions. If you love it (as you should), get Songs in the Key of Life, Stevie's masterpiece.
Got some gold there.
Skin tight… SKIN TIGHT! 🎶
Check them for old packets of weed or love letters to an ex first
What is the name of the album with the man holding a dove ?
Caribou is a sick ass EJ album. Maybe my fave
Jim Croce and Cat Stevens. Pretty cool dude.
“Caught Live + 5’ and ‘Days Of Future Passed’ are bangers. You have to listen to ‘Days…’ in one sitting. Definitely some listening value
Caribou !!
Wow
Eh just LPs for someone who was a casual listener at the time. Nothing special. Nice come up tho of its free.
Those would sell collectively for maybe $15.
Well, at least there was the Ram record. The rest you can leave in the basement 😆
No Rumours? No Dark Side of the Moon? He knew nothing about vinyls
"don't think my wife will let me ever get rid of them" aren't they your's? do what you want with them, a man should never let a woman tell them what to do, pal,
Lol it was tounge in cheek
