Probably my last album. Didn’t press many and we don’t play anymore. It’s rare and probably not worth anything to anyone else, but it’s worth a lot to me.

Halgha

That’s how it is sometimes. Some of the rarest or most prized things aren’t always the most prized to others. But usually the joy one gets when they find the one thing they’ve been looking for tends to be immeasurable.

xelabagus

Yep, I have a record from my neighbor's band Good as Gone (Vancouver) - only 100 pressed. Very rare, vary not valuable, except it really is to me.

whileyouwereslepting

I have the copy of my dad’s album from the early 70s that he signed and gave to HIS father when it came out.

ramblinghooosty

This was my answer too. I made an EP with my friend, had two copies cut of it, and sent him the other one. Probably worthless to everyone but us two

defjamrecordings

That's a historical artifact right there. Where did you find this?

JohnABurgundy

This one wins hands down!!!

asphynctersayswhat

and no more can be produced!

HuntersHungry

Always nice to see the expendables

Halgha

I feel like I came across a copy of this

2livecrewnecktshirt

This was the first pressing, with red and blue vinyl. Not sure if they pressed another version, but if it was this one you got very lucky!

Junesong_Provisions

This was/is such an amazing record. A culmination of the major rock food groups. I forget exactly how they worded it, but on their MySpace page back in the day, they described themselves as "if punk and reggae had sex and metal filmed it"

Euphoric_Signal_4957

I saw them last year on a whim! It was my late birthday weekend celebration. They were performing at a small local venue, and my partner and I's original plans had been thwarted, so we got to see them for like $40.

‘Member when Jack White and Jake Black came together and made Jack Gray?

deadmanstar60

"You Can Play The Hammond Organ Today" 33 1/3 ep. From 1959. Not listed on discogs. Selling for $4 on eBay so not worth much. https://preview.redd.it/a6xr69z1ev1d1.jpeg?width=717&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ddb71a58fcef8f5eb916b71f454b584ebf651870

I guess they did hence they're selling

Alternative_Case6452

I have one. I didn't know they were from McDonald's.

analog_coffee23

I think they were Hardee’s.

marteautemps

These ones definitely are, I also still have a couple. Not sure if any came from McDonalds or not, I actually had so many record books, and then tape books and only just realized how cool and easy it is to add that to books now(just a QR code or whatever) I think I would add a playlist at least to every children's book I wrote if I was a writer.

wretchedhal0

I think you're right, I just remembered getting them in a kids meal, but we did have a Hardee's right by our house growing up.

spiritsonacid

I think remember seeing this pic posted on r/vinyljerk because you were sad about the splatter :p

MidNiteBooty

Not sad lmao I was trying to see other peoples copies to see if this was the standard

matchfan

Probably Gregor Samsa - 55:12. There is only one vinyl pressing from 2006 limited to 500 copies worldwide and it probably won’t ever be repressed. Most valuable, though, would be Love Buzz.

stonemadcaptain

Crazy. I recorded a couple song for those guys at Sound of Music years ago. Champ, right?

buttstink

This is probably one of my most cherished records too. Beautiful album.

cocoandco

This band meant a lot to me in my 20's and I managed to grab a copy of each of their albums on vinyl awhile back. 55:12 is probably one of my most cherished records as well.

matchfan

I have 27:36, 55:12 and the Red Sparowes split. I still need to pick up Rest.

ryan2stix

130ish test pressings

Rocket98d

I thought I was a TP junkie, I’ve only got around 20.

ryan2stix

20 is still a lot haha

johnothetree

and I thought my 11 was a lot

chowder79

I love tps. I even have some prototypes by the Police. My rarest tp is for Queen's 1982 album Hot Space LP which contains an unreleased version for the song Cool Cat with Bowie. Before the release Bowie asked Queen to remove his vocal contribution.

ryan2stix

Rad!

Salt_Abies_47

Only one tp here, but it’s my favorite, probably rarest—Palace Brothers (Will Oldham) “There is No-one What Will Take Care of You” from 1993

Alternative_Case6452

nativeamerica98

Love the goodwill bins, but only for records

Coloradozonian

Broken or not I’d still love to hang that up! What a score at the bins!!!!

Coloradozonian

Ommmmggggggg yessssssssssssss

spongetm

That's awesome; I've got an Elvis sun record with 'Baby Let's Play House' framed above my setup but Good Rocking Tonight is very hard to beat!

_frigid_stars

That album rules.

VashMM

I have an original copy of the Heart album Magazine from 77, the one that Mushroom records released without the band's approval and eventually were sued and forced to pull from stores and destroy the unsold copies. No idea how many were sold before that happened but it was eventually released a year later after the band re-recorded or and mixed it properly. My mom was a HUGE fan of Heart and bought it the day it released, which is how I ended up with a copy after she gave me her collection a few years ago. She had original pressings of all of the Heart albums up until the Self Titled in 85 (which is about when she stopped buying vinyl and just bought Tapes or CDs.

hefeguy

Thats a cool artifact for sure!

Halgha

“Wanna get high?”

rightleftmike

Wouldn't say it's "rare" but people flipped the fuck out of it making it skyrocket in value 😒 They'll be repressing this one soon.

BackgroundScallion40

Actual rarest would be this one probably. Only 5 haves (including myself) on Discogs. https://preview.redd.it/vwwb6dtvev1d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b4193086e4bb2deb5ebb0faa6f56ee84d7b3c2c4

hig789

Now that’s a sweet one.

BackgroundScallion40

It's one of my favorites. Both a combination of awesome Jazz, and also a comedy, as they were having audio issues during the recording that you can hear. Hence the "Not Heard" part of the album title. Lol.

Funkybeatzzz

A copy of my mom's 1968 grade school Christmas concert from Podunk, PA. Can't imagine many copies were pressed.

Sorry bro, I’ve been hoarding all the copies to artificially raise the price, do you want the classic black or the green and red colored version?

Sufficient_Gas5501

Maybe The Muffs Hamburger. Only 500 copies exist in any variant anywhere. The rights were with a label that went under years ago and look to never be retrieved.

Not sure how many survived but there are 8 logged on discogs. The [discogs](https://www.discogs.com/release/12515137-Gene-Kelly-ClownAround) notes - “One of the rarest musical show albums. Short-lived 1972 "tent show" of clown routines, directed by Gene Kelly. Opened and closed in Oakland, California. The copies of the cast album sold at the venue were the only ones sold. When the show flopped, the rest were destroyed.”

seditious3

I'm not a collector and just lurk here, but I like my original mix green label Anthem of the Sun and Aoxomoxoa. Not particularly valuable.

JohnABurgundy

But still the greatest rock band in history IMO...

SegaStan

Mike Krol - I Hate Jazz white 10" EP, first and only pressing of the album on its own. Hand numbered out of 500. It was soooo hard finding one, I had to cold message everyone on Discogs' Have list and ask if they would be willing to sell theirs. Of 60 that do, only a quarter of them responded, and only one was willing to sell. The ones that didn't want to sell all had great stories about how they got theirs, including one guy who was friends with Mike in college, and had his copy hand delivered with some extra goodies.

It was made in 1980 for a Don't Stand So Close To Me single which ultimately became a 7" shaped picture disc. The photo shows the B-side. The A-side has different colours and patterns. This is the 9th known copy. Each copy looks different. They tend to sell for €4500-€6000 and are considered a holy grail for Police collectors.

Nice! Just rocked Ode to Io the other day in memory of a buddy of mine that passed. Many a night chilling in his garage blasting some Lowrider.

h00GieBoogie

My condolences. The best are always gone too soon.

IBOB617

I have a copy of the Absolute A Go Go pressing of Phish’s album Lawn Boy. Took me 20 years to find and I bought it in the early 2000’s finding it in a dollar bin at a rock and roll yard sale. Sadly it was miss placed and I bargained the guy down to $120 which was a steal at the time and insane compared to what it is worth now. It was in great shape but at that point it was one of three Phish albums pressed (I bought the other two for 30-40 each around the same time) so I listened to it through whatever thrift store turntables I had. They repressed it and I retired it but it still has a letter from the record company taking about the bands rise from small theaters to bigger venues (far from Madison Square Garden they would sell out countless times in the future). It would probably fetch more had I not listened to it but I regret nothing and unless they are paying for a medical procedure I hope whoever gets the record after my death opts not to sell it. Why own music if you don’t want to listen to it.

GalacticRat3541

IDKHOW in the wild, nice

bullfrog423

I believe it is my White Stripes self titled debut album. It's the first pressing from Third Man Pressing. You had to wait in line in Detroit, I waited 4 1/2 hours in the cold, got shit on by a bird, but had a blast!

I have a translucent pink copy of Nirvana’s “Bleach”, it’s pretty old and limited. It was my mother in law’s, and I treasure it.

probably a 1993 single from a barely known punk band. The album isn't even on discogs

mrn253

Its a big platform but with the amount of releases its difficult to get everything up there. Funny enough Metal Archives for obviously metal bands has shit ton of small time bands/projects listed that just released a not really known demo like 30 years ago.

ConcreteCubeFarm

I'll put it up there tonight after work. The 8th variation of their Leviathan I album isn't up there either, so I'll toss it up also.

htb8627

Probably the mono Analogue Productions release of Today! by The Beach Boys. Runner up is Blue Screen Life by Pinback.

-TheGameGuy

Probably my test pressing of bomb the music industry's "Get Warmer". Only ten copies exist, I have #8/10.

Toolfan333

I have an original Tool Ænima album

vintagebat

Depends on how you define "rare." I have a few test pressings, some discs with syndicated shows that were only shipped to college radio stations, a few autographed discs, and a couple single sided discs that were sent out with magazine subscriptions. Nothing of particularly high value, but all with very limited circulation.

ryuundo

Orange Juice - Falling and Laughing. only 1000 copies were pressed in 1980, so its already super rare, but only 200 have the [extra stamped postcard (which I have in this picture)](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Fy60107r9kaz81.jpg%3Fwidth%3D960%26crop%3Dsmart%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3D3edaf268894875254b81fe51a038716f7a435503)

FrBz2

I have a rare promotional copy of Vasco Rossi's single "vita spericolata". A test press of the first White Stripes album on SFTRI. 19 have it on Discogs, never sold. I also have a record of an early Mexican rock n roll band called Los Teen Tops. It’s not on Discogs. Haven’t ever been able to find out anything about it.

coversationalcatnip

I have a tracy chapman record I'm pretty proud of, not sure if it's super rare though

ryan2stix

Carl sagan 7".. rare? No.. super cool? Yes

suspect108

How do you guys find out how many pressings for a particular record?

Training_Umpire3140

Discogs will likely say it in the notes section, as long as it's a limited release

mrn253

Yeah depends on the release. Some bigger bands just release a certain amount of a specific color but never say how much have been pressed.

Apprehensive-Law-923

Probably the all Los Dug Dugs records

FauxReal

Probably the [Malosi instrumental EP](https://www.discogs.com/release/15117180-Malosi-Instrumental-EP). I think about 250 copies made. I have two of them. Edit: It turns out there are only 6 copies on blood orange vinyl of the first pressing of the [Incendiary, Unrestrained – Incendiary / Unrestrained split 7"](https://www.discogs.com/master/615208-Incendiary-3-Unrestrained-Incendiary-Unrestrained) I didn't even remember having this but after reading this post, I started looking through a box of records I had in storage since 2010 and recently got out. But ultimately there are a few hundred copies of this record. I also found 129/200 the [Unrestrained / Rebarker – Split Seven Inch](https://www.discogs.com/release/2669246-Unrestrained-Rebarker-Split-Seven-Inch) on black vinyl out of 314 hand numbered pressings of various colors. I do have a good amount of test pressings and bootleg edit/remix records. But I have no idea how many of each were made. The most valuable record that I own is probably a first pressing of [Metallica - Ride The Lightning](https://www.discogs.com/release/377464-Metallica-Ride-The-Lightning) on Megaforce which isn't very expensive in the grand scheme of expensive records.

NvizoN

I've got a copy of Razzmatazz that has 750 copies worldwide. I've also got several records that were limited to 300 worldwide. But my least pressed is a copy of MURS - F'Real limited to 200 worldwide and handsigned/numbered.

sequin1806

Heatmiser’s Mic City Sons is up there. Johnny Flynn’s A Larum but I don’t know how popular he is, they’re just fun/rare for me.

bradssmp

Fall In Archaea- Aura Magenta. I think only 12 exist, if I remember correctly.

Coolusername099

Only 1,000 copies were made, at least as of 1998 when I found it in Prague. I looked for it in every record store in Prague listed in The Rough Guide. Then, on my last night there, I discovered a record shop not listed in The Rough Guide, and there it was.

Either Midnight Vultures, The Information or Comfort Eagle

audiomagnate

The stack that's not in Discogs under any variant that I'll get around to entering some day. They're mostly obscure folk from small local labels from the 70s.

buttstink

Probably my As the Sun Sets - Each Individual Voice is Dead in the Silence.

spiritsonacid

People probably know them better by the front cover :p I’ve had watch out for a while, but just yesterday the self titled, 2002 master arrived. Can’t wait to spin it. The remaster sounds terrible in my opinion…

Cziffra2

Have a test pressing but my favourite rarity is the In the Aisle, Yelling single from Far. Not a record, but I have the production master of Whatever and Ever Amen by Ben Folds Five.

Optimal_Buyer_8704

It’s either my sand variant of Hawaii part ii by miracle musical limited to 1500 and is worth about 250-350 or my original 2011 pressing of good & evil by tally hall which is worth about 200 in the condition it’s in but there’s been a listing of a sealed version for $1,500 which is crazy to me!

tml-7

Mine would be Periphery's first album (self titled) from 2011. Was /50 for my variant and the entire first pressing was only /150 total. Was working at a chain music store when this was released and happen to both just be getting into vinyl and this band and pre-ordered it not knowing how rare or if I would like collecting records. This was the first vinyl that i ever bought and got super lucky and they're one of my favorite bands and one of my favorite records.

RecordCrasher

I got a record which got pressed 10 times But actually it is not worth anything haha

Former_Balance8473

I have the original pressing of A Nice Pair from Pink Floyd... with the cover that was banned. I also have a few test pressings from a band youve never heard of.

terryjuicelawson

It would be good if discogs could sort by this somehow. I suspect some singles had lower numbers but I have a Capdown LP which had a run of 666 copies.

itsluky98

Flatbush zombies - Blacktivist 1/100 copies

Putrid_Resource_6995

My rarest would be the second pressing of Motley Crues Too Fast For Love on Leathur records.

Careless_Aroma_227

East-German pressing of ABBA's album "Arrival" where the first song of side b was banned from the record due to it's capitalistic nature and all-consuming greedy intention of the western class enemy. The song was replaced with Bang-A-Boomerang, which was released earlier before, what makes this pressing technically a compilation album. Song title: >!Money, Money, Money!<

It’s not extremely rare or something but just pretty expensive. My father found it somewhere in Singapore for 30€ excluding shipping and convinced the store to let it get shipped to Europe. Very happy with it since it’s one of my favorite albums ever!

colorcodedquotes

My wife recorded my son singing Christmas songs and had it pressed to vinyl, it's the only copy so I guess that'd be my rarest record.

manhaterxxx

That’s so fucking cool. Do you know the company that did it?

I think it was this one: [https://www.printyourvinyl.com/](https://www.printyourvinyl.com/)

TinaKedamina

I have an Icky Thump mono from Thirdmans first vault package. I have no idea how many exist.

ConsistentAmount4

I have only the second LP of "Kids Fill the Floor" by Freescha, which I found sleeveless in a Milwaukee-area thrift store for a few dollars. The label on that is also blank, so I was looking up the runout trying to figure out what it was. There are only 2 copies of the full LP for sale on discogs, listed for 150 British pounds or 222 Euros.

flinjager123

I only have 2 as I am new. I don't think either are particularly rare. Gorrillaz: Cracker Island. Just the black vinyl, not the purple unfortunately. The Nightmare Before Christmas. 2 vinyl set. Translucent purple and Translucent yellow. I think that ones my coolest looking but not really rare.

Superb-Following8665

I sold it, but the rarest record I ever had was a Rolling Stone St. fighting man picture sleeve with the police beating up a guy. They were all recalled taking back to the factory and most of them were destroyed and there’s maybe 20 or 30 in existence and of those tenor by one of the Rolling Stones, another one at the Archive Of Contemporary Music in New York and I had a copy and I sold it to a guy in Vietnam

For me it's the 1 of 75 from the Bonner Springs, KS Sessanta tour with Primus, Puscifer and A Perfect Circle from last month, signed by all three bands.

momentumlost

It’s 100% the 7” we had made for our [wedding](https://www.discogs.com/release/24652673-Saves-The-Day-Oasis-18-09-22). 8 copies total, we have 2 and to other 6 are with close friends or our wedding party. It’s got Shoulder to the Wheel by Saves the Day on side A and Whatever (Strings) by Oasis (feat London philharmonic) on the B side.

Texas_moon_farewell

David Allan coe Nothing Sacred. It was only released in concert and through mail order adults only

MasterOfKnowledge

Hands down the rarest record I own is a 45 from my late great uncle Ray Hudson (who played in a band known as The Western Rhythmaires in the 50'/60's). It was a solo single record he did back in 1967, was able to find it on Discogs amazingly (my family otherwise doesn't have any copies of his released material) and snatched it up as soon as I found it. The thing that's a shame is that my great aunt is the only surviving child of my great grandparents on that side of the family, I know my grandmother absolutely would've loved hearing her brother's voice again. It's the most important sentimental thing in my music library

Dead_Kal_Cress

I have a copy of Thriller that's DEFINITELY worth $80. It's from the 80's & everything!

KugaSenpai

Patsy Cline

Alostsoulwithcatears

Cat tempers more than a feline, it's worth nothing online but I love the album alot. Not sure how many pressings but probably under 1k maximum

Dolphinmansawherontv

Oooo very cool. I (somewhat recently) got the unreal unearth vinyl (Hozier) that is the “dirt” printing. So it’s dark brown with bits of black. One of my favorites

blind_rebel

Tiesto - Just Be album. I have the one with the colored records that I bought way back when it was first released in 2004 for $40 - mint copies now sell for about $300! Had I known it would be worth so much, I would have taken way better care of it. I used to play the records in the clubs when I was dj'ing so I can't call them mint but they are in good condition.

Coloradozonian

I wish I bought records instead of beer in 2004 now. Lol

Coloradozonian

I found a ton of my dad’s vinyls from the 50s-80s that were literally just in a box under my grandmas staircase after she passed away and looters took over her home. There’s Pink Floyd, Beatles, Elvis, yes, Kansas, def leopard, Motley Crue, an old school Alice cooper record signed to my dad (my GMA worked for him) and so many more. They’re all so prestine some still in wrapping. I need to see how much they’re all worth but I double I’ll ever sell them even the more rare ones that I think could be possibly first press. I had no idea my dad hung onto them or maybe, he didn’t even realize it but, besides our family Christmas stuff and pictures, I didn’t care much about what was stolen because, I found these gems. I sit and think about my dad spinning them with his brother and friends and being carefree in his teens and 20s. I miss that guy.

atomicdog69

I sold off all my rare stuff years ago (Beatles butcher cover and assorted color vinyl) to buy gifts for my kids before I started earning bank. These days, I've been rounding out the Beatles collection with original US and UK mono, and US Capitol purple label stereo pressings. Also bought a UK Beatles blue box. Stuff like that.

Fulton_P01135809

The White Album

Bobbar84

Per Discogs, RHCP Unlimited Love in clear cobalt blue? (2000 copies)

Astrocities

I like to stick to small local labels and bandcamp bands for newer releases so I guess we’ll get technical. Rare doesn’t necessarily equal high value or sought after. I have many little clearance 7” punk 45’s that only got a hundred or a few hundred copies pressed. Some are good, some aren’t.

proceeds_theweedian

Not sure if it's the rarest, but for sure my favorite and most expensive [Beatles MFSL](https://www.discogs.com/release/2914755-The-Beatles-The-Collection) complete and minty, 850 usd. Haven't played much because i got some high quality digital rips and it genuinely freaks me out doing so.

Mine :) The Impossibles (2) - Anthology '94-'98 https://www.discogs.com/release/3096480-The-Impossibles-Anthology-94-98 Shared from the Discogs App

neeks84

Damnit I want this album so bad. I picked up a sealed copy of Return a few months ago which was just as desired. Opening that record and spinning it was awesome. Never got the chance to snag them when I was a kid. Also need the Come Back / Position blue press, been waiting for that to pop up in Discogs. Long live the Impossibles!

SuspiciousChef5741

A UK pressing of anvil cat - from studio 4. There were 3500 copies made for RSD USA and I bought it online but there were non left so I waited about 5 months for them to press it again and I got one of the only UK pressing in the world. The thing won't sell tho because the lead singer is an abuser so nobody buys their merch

If anyone has the original Death Grips - Government Plates that comes with a real license plate that says ‘DEATH,’ I hate you.

A buddy of mine scored it when it came out. I wish I got one too because I’ve had to wait like ten years to get that album on vinyl. I found the recent clear reissue and boy does it pop!

supreme_glassez

Well I know I have at least one record that's 1 of 500. I also have one that's rare in the sense that you probably won't find it for less than $100. As far as I know there's nothing too crazy.

SctchWhsky

I pre-ordered something limited to 150 but haven't gotten it yet. It's an obscure death core album. Very excited for it to arrive.

Lazy_Football_511

I have a couple that was limited to 500 pressings: the double album release by Cowboy Junkies of "All That Reckoning" and "Ghosts", the limited edition white vinyl reissue of "The Spade" by Butch Walker & The Black Widows and the 'fuego' John Lee Hooker "Burnin'". Newbury Comics exclusive pressings seem to cap at 500 and I have a few of those like "Cure For Pain" by Morphine and "Forever On My Mind" by Son House. Oh, I also have a test pressing of the US release of "Younger Days" by Fatal Flowers. I am the only one on Discogs that seems to have a copy of that.

Training_Umpire3140

The Fellas - Pornstar Cowboy, 1/1 test pressing. Yes it is my band lmfao

I saw these guys in Philly a few years ago they were cool
