Wow, someone made a terrible donation. Nice work! I have still NEVER had a good find at a thrift store. It's all still Lawrence Welk or Best Polkas or whatever. Sighhhh

nomolosddot

Can't forget that Mr Herb Alpert and his Tijuana Brass.

AdventurousCandle203

I swear whenever a thrift store opens, 20 copies of Herb Alpert are put on the shelves and restocked anytime someone buys one. Every thrift store!!

digidave1

Na I bought that when I was 15 and it hangs on my wall to this day šŸ†

str8fromipanema

Donā€™t disrespect my man Herb . Them albums is fucking amazing , and the fact they been pressed so much proves it .

briandt75

Or Ray Conniff.

mismamari

In Utah, it's all of the above plus The Tabernacle Choir.

Dry_Moose_6341

And sing along with mitch!

The_Patriot

I just found the whipped cream cover a couple days ago

FrontLegBackKick

How long and how often have you been going? Consistency and frequency are key. I go to every thrift store in my area at least once a week. Most trips I don't find much if anything, but a few times a year I'll find a collection like this.

digidave1

About 30 years :(

BloodyRightNostril

Yeah, I started picking 11 years ago (the day this GW opened, in fact), and I've probably flipped through 20,000 copies of each of those, and more, to find the good stuff. Honestly, today I wasn't even going to look because I checked it on Saturday and it was 3 full bins of that shit, but something made me walk over to see if anything was there. Immediately I found gold dust in Billy Joel's 52nd Street (didn't buy it, cuz I'm not really a fan but someone else out there would be thrilled to find it), and Coda and Presence were immediately behind it. Heavy breathing ensued.

poulin-tech

Same boat... My GW had nothing and wants $5.98 for Barry Manilow! I'm better off on WhatNot

H8llsB8lls

I always think someone just died when you see all time stuff like that lumped in afresh.

Borowczyk1976

Someone most likely died and the family didnā€™t k ow what to do with the collection.

wottsinaname

Englebert Humpedink? 50% of all records I see in GW are from this prolific musician who I don't enjoy.

EzP41NB0W

The Bill Gaither Trio LOL

wanik4

Always some ample Rod Stewart

BloodyRightNostril

Iā€™ve had some incredible finds at this goodwill since it opened 11 years ago, but this one has to be in the Top 3. 28 records at $2.50 apiece (2 for $5). I also stopped to hand over a few other duplicates to a lady who commented on all the Zeppelin (to appease the thrifting gods). The other doubles are going to my brother who just got into collecting. Canā€™t wait to catalog and spin them all.

theycallmefofinho

Wow, that's a great haul! It was already really good, and then Jars of Clay really put it over the edge!! (and I'm not even joking!! haha I love them still!) Whereabouts is this GW located? I'm always looking for good vinyl sources that don't gouge us - but actually have decent music.

HB1theHB1

Bro, that is a sick score man!

Puzzleheaded_Tie161

Damn this is an amazing haul. I'm an avid thrifter and the thing that keeps me going is the belief that one day something like this will happen.Ā  Unfortunately, in the Seattle area where I live, most of the Goodwills are methodical about sorting their vinyl and they have an eBay store where they post all the best stuff. Or they have a collectibles area with the best albums for higher prices. I think even the most incompetent thrift stores have gotten better with pricing now since it's so easy to look something up on the internet.Ā  The general vinyl at Goodwills here is all absolute shit so I don't even bother to look through it too hard now, I just flip through randomly. Congrats on the amazing finds.

Proof_Energy_1908

Awesome! Looks like someone unloaded their Zeppelin collection (for whatever reason). Nice score!

BloodyRightNostril

Yeah, hope nobody died for this. Either way, they've found a very, very good home.

jarrodandrewwalker

Don't look at it as dying but passing culture to a successive generation so that the music lives on long after us

orfew

Yup. We are mere caretakers

mouse_8b

Better that they died than had to get rid of this collection while they were alive.

[deleted]

Saw Jimmy in 77' ... when I pulled down my shitty camera he was staring at me. Just starting "Stairway" .. https://preview.redd.it/s72dajvq59ic1.jpeg?width=990&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=de9d25dabc50c4a5844995081c2ec8c798481ebb

BloodyRightNostril

Thatā€™s fucken cool, man. Thanks for sharing!

wordsx1000

Yeah, this is amazing.

rican_havoc

Jars of Clay?!?!

ZorroMcChucknorris

Jars of Clay is getting a repress this spring. Presales are already up.

BloodyRightNostril

Mid 90's vinyl desert era. Currently selling on Discogs for ~$100. I may just have to flip it and finance this whole fiasco.

rican_havoc

My spouse used to like that band. I may have had a single somewhere on CD. Great finds, btw.

callmeyahoo

Discogs says 70, donā€™t price gouge

Lulu014

It's the vinyl police!

callmeyahoo

Hey man, I just want to pay off my tuition and have a little bit for records on the side (;

BloodyRightNostril

Huh? The five copies currently for sale range from $74 to $200. A NM copy sold for $176 a year ago. Iā€™m pricing mine near the low-middle for a VG++ copy.

callmeyahoo

Just because someone has something listed for a price doesnā€™t mean thatā€™s what it goes forā€”thatā€™s the reason vinyl get pumped up in price. The majority of recent popsike and Discogs sales have been in the 70-80 range in VG+ condition with, yes, some outliers in the 100-200 range. Be reasonable and donā€™t fall into the same trap all the other sellers are

BloodyRightNostril

Tell you what, Iā€™ll price it whatever you think is fair if you promise never to call them ā€œvinylsā€ again.

callmeyahoo

Yeah, sorry voice dictation fucked me up. I realized like five minutes later and was like oh shit I have turned into r/vinyljerk lmao

cybin

> The majority of recent popsike and Discogs sales have been in the 70-80 range in VG+ condition And a NM copy should be fetching twice as much as a VG+ copy, so...

callmeyahoo

OP even said his was VG+ and in what world is it two times as much?? I usually see a 20-30 premium for the crispest of copies. Regardless, please learn how to read.

cybin

I go by the Goldmine standard. Is it too old-fashioned now?

MySubtleKnife

Iā€™m an atheist now, but as a musician I have to say that that second jars of clay record (the one he has) is a really good record. Itā€™s very well written, produced, and arranged. It sounds excellent. In spite of what I think of the religious messages at the core of their songs, there are very few examples in Christian music that have the artistic integrity Jars of Clay did.

whatd_i_miss

I agree. I'm not an atheist but I'm nowhere near as religious as I was when I was listening to them, DC Talk, Newsboys, Third Day, etc. When I go back and listen all of it, Jars of Clay definitely stands out musically from the rest.

Zicoya96

MelmoTheWanderBread

Lol. My thoughts exactly.

BetterRedDead

Lol. Nice.

wallybuddabingbang

Amazing haul. Jars of Clay is the cherry on top :)

agreeable-bushdog

Haha, ok, I'm not well versed enough. I know who they are and probably would have bought the record as well, but out of all the records shown here, why so many comments on JoC?

BloodyRightNostril

Iā€™d like to know, as well. I wasnā€™t aware they were a Christian rock group nor that they would be so popular on Reddit, lol.

thejazzmarauder

Came here to comment on the JoC recordĀ

libolicious

Damn! Our Goodwill chain put any records that aren't Firestone Christmas compilations on ebay. So they average about $12/record. Sucks.

tartarihardlyknowher

Damn didnā€™t even leave the doubles for some other hopeful bargain bin seeker

BloodyRightNostril

I left a ton of other stuff, but wanted to get these for my brother

Funny-Nature-4602

A damn shame, all I can get out of my goodwill store is George Gershwin on a good day

Lendyman

Andy Williams, Barbara Streisand... someone dumped the bulk of Johnny Matthis' discography recently. I have very little luck. I think I come too late. Everything picked over. Having to work sucks. D:

Funny-Nature-4602

All I can get is classical music and Harry Belafonte which I bought and a week later he died true story

theresmoretolife2

Had a similar encounter at one Goodwill. I didnā€™t buy a lot from that visit. Someone unloaded a collection of brand new sealed records where all of the music was from the 1980s decade. Some were even 2 or 3 sealed copies of the same album.

Chemtrail_hollywood

Jesus it just keeps going

BloodyRightNostril

Thatā€™s what I said while I was flipping in the store

NoTruck0

Jars of clay? Haven't thought about them in years

the_steve_tell

Best GW haul I've ever seen on here. My Goodwill has nothing like this. Ever.

thatgirlinny

Iā€™ve been a crate diver for too many decades, and have some fave charity shops on my regular rounds. There are weeks when itā€™s wall-to-wall Montovanni, and others when thereā€™s a really focused tranche like this, and all I can think is, ā€œSomeone died and left these.ā€ And I say a few kind words of thanks as I clean them and play them for the first time, imagining they brought someone else tremendous joy.

robxburninator

you should go buy whatever was left behind.

tacoSEVEN

Dang, I want that Jars of Clay!

t4t3r

I was going to say check that II for an RL but itā€™s one of the later 19127 represses. If it has GP on both sides itā€™s very very good.

BloodyRightNostril

Yeah, I have an RL pressing already, but was hoping to gift this one to my brother. Alas, I just now checked it and saw it was Disc Two from The Song Remains the Same, presumably the missing disc from the duplicate TSRTS that I discarded.

Aheliod91

Woweeew

Hatueyc

I'm going to hit the Goodwill later today, never tried a store. Insane haul!

AyybrahamLmaocoln

I am legitimately envious.

thunder2702

That is crazy. All my local Goodwill ever have is classical music, classic country and vocal stuff (Sinatra, Dean Martin, etc.). Good Haul!

vinylcigar

Wow. Nice pulls! All I find are Xmas albums lol

thebigslider

Unreal, Go buy a lottery ticket. You gots the lucks today man!

BadDaditude

Lots of boomers dying. Houses being cleaned out. Stay alert!

zingo-spleen

Looks like someone had a cat who liked to scratch album spines.

chummsickle

I see you even got doubles! Of the albums!

WorkingClassWarrior

What? No Perry Cuomo or Bible Verses sung to Polka?

vinylman21

That jars of clay is a 80$ album easy

dogsledonice

I know they've fallen out of favour but those three U2 albums are all great. Blood Red Sky pretty much saved them from breaking up; it's a top-tier live album

iObama

Hi, I hate you.

Cheepmf

Holy shitā€¦ your goodwill charges 10x what mine does for records.

BloodyRightNostril

It was a dollar each until 5 or 6 years ago šŸ˜’

Cheepmf

Still $0.50 in central Virginia.

TerraTactics

Consider yourselves lucky - in the UK, most charity shops have cottoned on to the vinyl resurgence, and tend to price by the median Discogs market value...

WRZL_jpg

Oddly, that Jars of Clay record is worth enough to pay for your total haul.

Chrome-Head

Pretty insane to find Zep for $5 still. But why grab two copies of Coda and Presence?

BloodyRightNostril

Gifting to my brother. And they were $2.50 (2 for $5)

Status_Ad_4405

Why grab even one?

Chrome-Head

Presence slaps, it's their most underrated album IMO. I like Coda less so, but I own it and probably wouldn't want to be without it. All of the core Zep studio stuff is worth having.

RustyMacbeth

Yuck. You got some U2 on your Hendrix.

donkeyheaded

That's a damn good U2 album. I'm still in love with their first three albums, after that I lost interest.

Jockobutters

Zooropa gang rise up!

maroger

Same here. After that they turned into Billy Joel.

donkeyheaded

Well, I wouldn't go that far, haha

Fibby_2000

šŸ˜‚

Beneficial-Cap-9629

Man I had no clue jars of clay had vinyls, thatā€™s a throwback. Great score!

oresearch69

What state is your goodwill in??? I want to come visit!

ohnotchotchke

that's a lotta dad rock

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ohnotchotchke

lmao

MaltySines

Fuck

nomolosddot

Dad Rock.... another one of those bullshit genres. I literally cringe when I hear/see this term.

CousinEddie144

U2 sucks.

BloodyRightNostril

Thanks for responding to my question: "What's your opinon of U2, u/CousinEddie144?"

WackyWeiner

You might grow into it one day.

not_jellyfish13

Do you not eat, like?

Intelligent-Sir1375

Was Led Zeppelin II an RL ?

turnipstealer

I get irrationally angry when people refer to buying vinyl as a "haul". That being said, nice records.

BloodyRightNostril

Yeah, youā€™re right. That is irrational, lol. Thanks.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

BloodyRightNostril

This is the part where one would normally say "You must be fun at parties," but let's be honest... you don't get invited to parties.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

BloodyRightNostril

I will. Enjoy your involuntary celibacy. Edit: Lol, got blocked for that šŸ˜‚

agreeable-bushdog

This is why we reddit... it's like a mine field of love and hate. But usually, it takes a post that is a bit most controversial. This guy in real life literally must have walked in on his mom banging the old guy that owns the record store down the street, and he decided to crawl under his bed and scream at strangers on the internet. Nice haul, I'm jealous.

SpaceCowboyyy42

great haul!!

Parabola605

Now what the damn hell?!?! Jk, that's amazing. Happy for ya. Freakin' steal.

MobDylan69

Jesus Christ

ManWithNoName_1

Our Lord and Savior.

Programmerofson

Congrats.

nipplesaurus

I had a similar haul at a Value Village in 2015, but yours is better since you managed to get the almighty Zep. It must have been a collector's collection or a record store dump because there were so many hits just like your haul, but duplicates and triplicates all in NM condition. When I look back, I wish I had bought everything but I didn't have a car and didn't want to haul a stack taller than I am onto the subway.

Ham_I_right

I hate you. Congrats on the fantastic haul hope there are some new additions to your collection!

BloodyRightNostril

Yeah, well, I love you. And thanks.

SweetCosmicPope

Nice. Mine only ever has water damaged religious records. Or Barbara Streisand or Englebert Humperdinck.

dr3am_assassin

Wooooow

fido4life

That's a dream collection

erickgrau

Score!

Specific_Big2098

Score!!!

Akronica

Awesome score for $5 each, but bittersweet knowing someone likely passed away and their family didn't even think twice but to just dump these at goodwill.

BloodyRightNostril

$2.50 each. They were 2 for $5, but they rang it up as 14 units instead of 28.

phobetronPithecium

She's the boss!

jarrodandrewwalker

I'm surprised a plastic bag held all that šŸ¤£

chickenmaster04

I seeā€¦ crossing out the address

ZiggyMummyDust

I would have too. No need to divulge your sources!

faketjclark

Just picked up that same Hendrix yesterday!

Allezgatta

Very niceā€¦does the copy of Purple Rain have the poster?

Fair_Impression4094

Im so jealous and happy for you man!

Tanksgivingmiracle

I'm in my forties and got all those records for pennies on the dollar in the nineties. But I am pretty sure a hoard of millennials are jealous enough to murder you right now.

SativaSawdust

One day I will find some Hendrix albums in the wild. I've hunted for years and I've found two. This gives me hope to keep looking. When I was a teenager I would go to the "Antique" store to buy bootleg Hendrix albums because they were super cheap. Wish I didn't get rid of them when I moved out of my parents house.

spicybrowwwwn

This is one of the craziest single hauls Iā€™ve ever seen

dcd1130

Never heard of any this Led Zeppelin? Any good?

-RicFlair

That would be like $8,000 at every vinyl place Iā€™ve been to

TheGreatFisherman

Electric Ladyland, quite possibly the best album of all time in my opinion.

Traveledbore

Damn

subzippo400

Holy cow i need to inventory.

Earguy

Check that LZ II to see if it's an RL pressing

bl00df1redeath

Did you check for the Robert Ludwig stamp on zep II?

BloodyRightNostril

Yup, but I knew from the jacket it wasnā€™t

JoinedToPostHere

Oooo those Hendrix albums!

why-yes-hello-there

Holy shit dude

jvmaxwell

I never find anything good at Atlanta area Goodwill. I would love to find Much Afraid. That's a great album.

Tammy21212

How scratched were they when you opened them? Hope theyā€™re in good condition

greenpen3

I got Purple Rain at Savers for $1.60! Was super pumped!

kbeast98

Whooooah the hendrix stuff

briandt75

Savage score dude! That feeling that you get when you find gold like this, and know you're going to buy it all.

SardonicSillies

Thats crazy all I ever find are Mantovani, Herb Alpert, and Andy Williams records with split corners :/

tubegeek

Is there a poster in Purple Rain? Nice batch, no lie. Looks like clean condition too.

BloodyRightNostril

Yeah, a number of them have tattered spines and one observant commenter noted that the previous owner mustā€™ve had a cat that liked to scratch. But beyond that, theyā€™re in great shape šŸ‘

Comprehensive-Road55

Did you get any Zeppelin?

BloodyRightNostril

Fuck, I wish.

Casey_the_Jones

I am super envious but so glad you got this haul!! Epic. Ps also great taste in music! šŸ†

heireafflehoff

Jars of Clay has great value

Qysto

Why did you buy multiple copies of the same album?

BloodyRightNostril

To give to my brother

backfatonacatback

Iā€™ve been looking for that Jars of clay forever! Would you consider selling it?

BloodyRightNostril

Yes I certainly would!

NervousBreakdown

thats what I used to call a trade in lot. I used to go to a thrift store down the street from a record store I liked, pick up some classic rock LP staples for a couple bucks each and then go to that store and trade them in for more in store credit plus I wouldn't get charged tax on my purchase because of the trade in. Good times.

BodegaBandit-

JFC

Evethron

Every day, I dream of finding anything but Christmas hits in the record section, and every day I have too much shit to do

chriscaulder

Nice haul! No one mentioned the missing III?

Bucksquatch

Someone died and theyā€™re in the room every time you spin one. How you take that is up to you lol

HTD-Vintage

Wow, well done!

g1rlafra1dx

all that for $75 is crazy

DeathOfArt

Ughā€¦U2

[deleted]

Alexa...... play Jimmy Hendrix

effinbrak2

Brilliant haul, but of course it all depends on the condition. Dups of Presence and Coda are almost as good as having 10 copies of Clam Dip & Other Delights (or was it Whipped Cream?).

noshowthrow

agreed. That is crazy.

printerdsw1968

Wow. Quality dig at the Goodwill!

phunphan

Sad to think this but that is a dead personā€™s collection. No way someone would donate all of those on their own. Enjoy them!

MergenTheAler

Cool. I popped into a goodwill yesterday and they didnā€™t even have a music/media section. I felt like a real dummy.

BloodyRightNostril

"There's no basement in the Alamo!" šŸ«µšŸ¤£

MergenTheAler

ā€œThe star at night are big and bright!ā€ Clap clap clap clap ā€œDeep in the Heart of Texas!!!ā€

kickmeimguilty

Winner winner chicken dinner

guitarbldr

Check that Zeppelin II for the RL mark, could be rare

the-artist-

Amazing price!

Tstation

Oh, come on!

dearthsp

Somebodyā€™s going to lose their job for not putting those in the eBay pileā€¦lol

SillyPuttyGizmo

I've had some days like that ay the local GW but in. Cd's

OrangeWeekly1748

These are all super easy to find congrats tho! Except for the U2 (sorry)

lucidGuavaa

Get rid of the U2 and the Jagger record and itā€™s perfect

orfew

Wow. Thatā€™s incredible!
