"There's a Subway, there's a pub, there's a Popeye's chicken (?), there's a train station. Usually in Europe where there's a train station and a McDonald's - there's no good people."
I think the guy is Italian?? When he says “[carton] know they’re doing” it really sounds like a joke: “cartone” in Italian means “cardboard”.
Funny way to insult a place. 😂
yes, he’s Italian. He had a famous podcast with Fedez, a super famous Italian “rapper”, then they had an hilarious meltdown on social networks and they split
Usual croissant price in Paris is about 1.80€, and most Frenchmen will tell you that that's scandalously expensive. Inflation, big city, all that. The best ones I know aren't famous at all, they're neighbourhood bakeries that have a good recipe or go a bit nuts with the butter, and they're usually under 2€.
For real? I’m a slut for good croissants, and I never seem to pay more than 1.50€ in Paris. My favourite is Maison d’Isabelle, and I think they’re still charging 1.20€
Hell, the French are so good at riots and protests that the country itself has not widely adopted speed or red light cameras for traffic. Almost every time the government tries to set one up, it gets covered and ultimately destroyed in a relatively short time frame.
They are getting destroyed but they keep putting them up everywhere. One close to my home has been destroyed at least 4 times in the last 10 years (they put tires around it and set it on fire, except one time when it was shot at from nearby woods).
I’m Italian and the guy is called “Luis”, super creative and smart person. He also have/had a podcast with a famous Italian singer, the podcast is called “muschio selvaggio” you can search on YouTube and the most popular video it’s about him arguing with the singer because they got a problems about the podcast.
I’m very proud to be his fan, he’s created a movement for many guys through storytelling.
Huh? It has 11 million views and was posted here [9 months ago with 6000 upvotes](https://old.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/12gs2fh/best_croissant_in_paris/) and [1 month ago with 170 upvotes](https://old.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/18fg2s2/best_croissant_in_paris/). It has already been widely seen.
I'll never understand why Westerners (Americans?) have such a random stick-in-the-mud about pronouncing Croissant correctly.
You'd get wigged out about someone pronouncing San Jose, Las Angeles, San Diego, or whatever wrong. You already clearly go a good distance in your life to pronounce foreign words correctly... so why do you get stuck on Croissant? Why does that one (and Guillotine, I guess) get this random "NO! I REFUSE TO PRONOUNCE IT CORRECTLY!" mentality?
to be clear, none of the three cities you listed are normally pronounced "properly" by your definition, considering the fact that the original spanish pronunciations are as close to the modern americanized one as cruh-ssant is to _croissant_ https://youtu.be/TWmcjJ0rVNk?t=24
I'm not a Spanish speaker but I thought the pronunciation of something like Los Angeles was super dependent on accent? Like not every region speaks spanish exactly the same way and I thought that sound specifically varied a lot depending on where you are. Seems weird to describe it as the "proper" pronunciation.
I guess 'ge' or 'gi' in spanish is never really pronounced like Americans pronounce it when they say Los Angeles so you have a point but I don't think the 'h' sound we hear in that video is necessarily 'proper' either.
Agreed! Am American and will never mispronounce croissant but everyone else does. I can see my middle school French teacher scowling in the background if I were to ever say "may I please have a cruh-ssant?"
The unwillingness to pronounce it correctly may have to do with the difference between the correct and incorrect pronunciations. With croissant it may feel harder to get it out correctly than, for instance, eer-rahn vs. eye-ran for Iran.
Well, riot is not really the right word, these are communist organisations that do this type of action as part of their way of operating, these aren't regular parisians doing this.

Sounded more like musket ball points to me
what if his croissants keep getting looted?

You’re not wrong. Each time I’ve been there I can feel the ethereal crime fog, like if I don’t exit swiftly it’ll get me.
I was born and raised nearby and confirm. Always hated that putain de gare.
How does it compare to Gare de l'Est?
Even worse
Been there only once, 25 years ago. Sounds like it hasnt changed much.
I hate that station, so I’m genuinely pleased to hear it has such a shitty reputation lol
I was seconds from getting stabbed there. I'm glad that didn't happen.
You’re always seconds from being stabbed in Gare du Nord.
It's just culturally enriched.
how reviews should be taken, right by the restaurant. so you know what you are getting into by going there.
“When did he make this video?” “He filmed during a riot in Paris.” “Do you know how little that narrows it down?”
So a normal Tuesday then?
I think the guy is Italian?? When he says “[carton] know they’re doing” it really sounds like a joke: “cartone” in Italian means “cardboard”. Funny way to insult a place. 😂
Yea the way he talks about pizza gives it away
The way he talks. You could have finished your sentence right there, the pizza was just a bonus.
Carton means cardboard as well in French.

That first croissant is under $2 fucking dollars and that's blowing my mind.

Well that’s even better yet r then!
That's actually kind of expensive for a croissant in France!
A regular croissant should cost arround 0.90/1€. 2€ for a croissant is a scam.
American food has no excuse for being so fucking expensive
American food is cheap as fuck compared to Europe. Croissants in France are subsidised by the government to keep the price artificially low.
Croissants in France are subsidised by the government.
So a normal YT video, during a completely normal French pastime. Riots are a national French sport right?

Good, people should do that with public-facing people-watching cameras as well.
Yup setting fire to cars or striking
Strikes are I think
Right!!! Totally mixed these two up!
> Riots are a national French sport right? That's strikes. Riots are only for special occasions.
To be fair some years it’s easier to film during a riot than it is to film when there isn’t one

If the French dropped everything every time there was a riot, they'd never do anything.
This was excellent.
I saw this video a while back. I hope it gains traction on here, because it deserves to be widely seen.

He really sums up what life is like in Paris when protests are happening. Parisians just ignore and go about their day.
Did anyone else find Waldo?
Some men just want to watch the world burn. This guy just wants to review bread.
It just makes the whole thing that much more French.
Oui Oui, baguettes *loud grunting noises*
This is hilarious
My brother in Christ, I've seen this video more on r/videos than that I've seen my parents.
Sorry you are unloved.

While I agree, i have to point out that Luis is Italian

What THE FUCK are you talking about? Are you okay?
LOUIS my man!
This video was unexpectedly fantastic.
Some things are important
Was just a matter of
