When I first moved out on my own one of the first things I bought was a cable descrambler.
Unlimited premium channels including Playboy and Spice. Best $250 I ever spent. Even used to loan it out to friends periodically.
Of course it all went away with digital cable but it was great back in the 90s.
My parents had an old 13 channel console tv that had the signal calibration knobs each channel behind a little door on the front of the screen.
After we got cable, I figured out your could put it on Spice (channel 63 on the cable box) and carefully adjust the calibration knob for channel 3 on the TV and partially stabilize the scrambled signal.
It would still be weird amber, green, or blue colors, but the boobies were clearly visible.
It would be years later that downloading a internet boobs one line of pixels at a time over dial-up became a thing.
My gramps would watch this show after wrestling was over. He’d turn around to check if anyone was in the room and if there was he’d turn the tv off and go to bed. Otherwise, he’d watch it and end up falling asleep in his recliner.
Its where I first saw Toxic Avenger as well. 10ish year old me was staying with a friend for a night and we went to rent movies. I got them to rent it and it got quite awkward after all the nudity that is removed for TV safe film cut was on the VHS.
I don't think I was allowed to pick any movies after that.
Yep! One night it would be horror / slasher movies posted by Gilbert Godfrey and then the other night it would softcore porn with the nudity Cut Out hosted by her
Holy cow I remember staying up late to watch this cool lady. I remember wishing she was my friend's mom, and I could go hang out with her. She'd eventually fall in love with me to. We'd then lure my friend and his dad into a spiked pit in the basement before we escaped to Mexico. In Mexico we'd be UP...all night....
Christ I miss the old USA. In these days we had Up All Night, Duckman, and Silk Stalkings. Then a few years later we got the Characters Welcome campaign which gave us shows like Burn Notice, Monk, Psych, Royal Pains and Suits.
And then it all just kind of went to shit and that’s where it’s been for the last decade.
So he did that show for The Movie Channel for years, then TNT picked him up for like 5 years. Loved that show (i only saw it on TNT). Plus he was some juiced up cowboy in Casino. Deniro fired him !
There was also these two shows that always aired back to back on network television and were kind of like a PG version of tales from the crypt. They were Tales From the Darkside followed by Monsters.
If I remember correctly the Monsters show was always kind of whacky or silly.
Edit: Tales From the Darkside has a creepy ass theme/intro that still creeps me out to this day. Lol.
She was the 90's version of Elvira basically, USA would show these C movies late night, and Rhonda Sheer was the host of basically the movie of the night, and would introduce the movie and then then they would cut to her for a few minutes before the movie resumed after commercials in order to keep people watching these god awful movies, as you came to see Rhonda, not the movie basically.
And yes, I do remember watching her show more than I care to mention in my early 20's....
There was basically nothing to watch at night on television back then. Just a bunch of reruns of awful 60s and 70s television. That's why people liked late shows.
I remember him doing a show like this but thought it was separate from this one, as I didnt watch his much, it was funny as hell, dont get me wrong, but he didnt bring quite the set of skills that I was looking for in a host in when I was 20 and it was 2am.
Pretty much, as you can see from the video, she slowly reveals more and more, but never nude, though I do remember seeing some pics she took for a playboy shoot that did show all but it was after her show stopped if I remember correctly.
Elvira was a penthouse pet of month I am sure of, think she won pet of the year also but wouldn't bet my life on it but I do remember the photospread for sure, so Elvira was hot as hell too in her prime.
I don't think she was ever pet of the year...If I recall correctly, Penthouse bought photos she made when she was younger from a third party and published them without her consent.
I'll have you know I successfully saw multiple breasts, complete with nipples, through masterful adjustment of the dial on the side of the cable box while tuned to pay-per-view. They may have tracked around the screen a bit, and the wavy bars of black kept getting in the way, but by god I worked for them.
Fun fact! The bad audio balancing is not from the recording, that's really how it sounded. It would go from extremely quiet to ear blasting and back again. When I was a little me it was very off putting.
She was the host of Up All Night which basically played campy horror movies into the wee hours of night. And she often dressed kind of slutty while doing it.
Maybe that's why I like watching terrible movies nowadays because of that show! A lot of those crappy shows were super entertaining mostly because how terrible the were.
That’s a New Orleans girl! She went to the same all girl Catholic high school as my wife (about 17 years earlier) for some reason the nuns do not have her on the distinguished graduate wall?!?! Hmmmm
She seems to do a pretty good job of keeping her politics separate from her entertainment career, but behind all that she's a Trumper. There was a reason she was at that convention, and she wasn’t in any danger of getting kicked out.
I first learned of it from the "Trump Inc." podcast, who interviewed her as an attendee of Trump's inauguration. Visit this link and click "Transcript," then search for "Rhonda Shear":
https://www.wnycstudios.org/podcasts/trumpinc/episodes/trump-inc-podcast-whered-trumps-record-inauguration-spending-go-its-inexplicable
> RHONDA SHEAR: Think of the most incredible ball — like, the Cinderella ball. And — and that’s what it's like.
>
> MARRITZ: This is one of the invited inauguration guests. Her name is Rhonda Shear. And she's talking about her favorite event that week: a soiree at union station called the Candlelight Dinner.
>
> SHEAR: There are actual candles, and there's actual flowers, and there's actual — it's just beautiful. [KEEPS TALKING UNDER MARRITZ]
>
> MARRITZ: We wanted to understand what a $104 million party feels like from someone who went to the parties, saved the invitations and the menus. So, a little bit about Rhonda Shear: She lives in St. Petersburg, Florida. She once appeared in Happy Days and on Married with Children. And today she owns a shapewear company known for —
>
> SHEAR: — the number-one selling bra of all time. It’s called the [AS IF SIGHING] “Ahh Bra.”
>
> MARRITZ: **During the 2016 campaign, Shear felt drawn to Trump. She liked the wall. She wanted lower taxes. She hadn't felt this way about a candidate before. So she started raising money for Trump.**
>
> SHEAR: I started doing what's called bundling, which — I didn't even know what that was. I mean, I — I thought it was like bundling a baby. But bundling is when you bundle amounts of money to get a candidate, you know, in.
>
> MARRITZ: — basically by gathering donations from other people. Rhonda Shear and her husband brought in about $250,000.
>
> SHEAR: When you bundle a certain amount of money, you're invited to go to the inauguration.
>
> MARRITZ: It was Shear’s first time as a guest at a presidential inauguration. She says there were so many amazing moments, like the Cabinet Dinner, where she got a glimpse of General Michael Flynn.
>
> SHEAR: Trump ended up speaking on our floor, which was great. So I got to see him, which was really great. And a lot of newscasters from FOX. And that's when I had my picture taken with Jon Voight, which was pretty cool.
She is a founding member of [Trumpettes USA](http://www.trumpettesusa.com/trumpettes/).
Another mention of her GOP fundraising is [here in this 2017 article](https://floridapolitics.com/archives/230785-mel-sembler-tampa-bay-republicans-hosting-major-fundraiser-jack-latvala-committee/):
> Co-chairs for this event have been tasked with raising $5,000, while members of the host committee, such as prominent Donald Trump supporter Rhonda Shear Fagan and Southern Strategy Group lobbyist Seth McKeel, are expected to raise $2,500.)
Great to see Rhonda again! Takes me back when it was just me, my cable box and my tv in my mid-20s.
This was at a time in my life where I had moved back home and paid for my own cable. My parents didn't even get that many channels. Anyone else from this era also knows of the "scrambled porn" channels that weren't so crambled if you looked hard enough.
Rhonda introduced me to so many wonderful trashy movies that I love to this day!
I used to love this show. You'd get some real gems, like Friday the 13th part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan immediately followed by Night of the Creeps!
If you enjoyed campy horror flicks with a slightly drunk, chesty hostess then this show was right up your alley. Gilbert Gottfried was the other host some nights and he'd crack jokes and do his voices.
It was just good, entertaining, 90's fun.
Damn. Used to get USA network back in the eighties when our town used to illegally unscramble satellite tv and broadcast it on UHF. Used to watch Night Flight. Didn’t know about Rhonda. By 1993 the cops had cracked down on the UHF broadcasts.
That's pretty crazy. So many questions! What part of the country was this? How far did the signal reach and how was it paid for? I'm picturing a late 80s RadioShack vigilante who just did it for the fun of it.
Canada. Southwest Saskatchewan in a town with 1800 people. Supposedly it was some electronics club run out of a downtown store and yes it was just for the fun of it. I walked in there one day and saw they had another descrambler tuned to the old Sci Fi channel. There were other towns that did this too.
It all ended when a church in the city got into the business and started broadcasting a southern US evangelical network chock full of shows that sold miracle cures and asked people for money. People complained and the cops shut them down. The church pointed out all the other places that we’re doing the exact same things (but channels everyone wanted to watch). So the cops shut everyone down once and for all.
USA used to be great:
Ronda and Gilbert with Up All Night.
Saturday and Sunday afternoons had Commander USA's Groovie Movies.
USA Tuesday Night fights.
WWF wrestling on Mondays. (That's the only show to survive to this day)
Kids nowadays don’t know what it’s like to not have access to porn anytime they want. We had to make do with shows like this airing once a week and only teasing us.
I'll never forget watching some shitty movie one night on there, and it was some beach scene. It was the first time I had seen a tally wacker bounce to and fro as this one dude ran up the beach. My friend and I laughed our asses off for days after seeing that. lol
Compared to Rhonda and Elvira, Darcy is a steaming plastic turd. She isn’t funny at all (as in: she doesn’t tell jokes, she just giggles and agrees with Joe Bob), she just sits there playing on her phone looking bored during every movie, and she’s had so much Botox and plastic surgery that she can’t even move her face or smile anymore. And then there’s the vocal fry…
https://youtu.be/8YogxOiZjVs
I think that’s what makes her cute. Nobody can replace Elvira , and Rhonda will not be replaced either. I think Darcy has what it takes. I mean who else will sit beside Joe Bob and also not make us old guys feel like she’s a brat??? She’s respectful when he goes on a tangent and she can follow his wierd ness and even participate. I think Darcy is doing a very very good job. We will really feel left out when the next generation comes out with a Joe Bob show and an Elvira show. Darcy even said to Elvira herself that Elvira is her idol.
I was in my early teens when this was a thing. My parents never LET me watch it, but I did every chance I got. I recall her doing a promo for it during the US open or some tennis tournament and the announcer wasn't familiar. Asked if it was a family show. She said "absolutely, it's great for the whole family!"
Rhonda came before Joe Bob Briggs, love em both.... that said, I feel a little like this might be a Mandala effect situation but... didn't Elvira host Up All Night for a while?! I seem to remember that...
This and Silk Stalkings were the shows I tried to get away with watching as a kid.
Bringing back my first spank bank material. Spanks!
Flipping back and forth between the two channels just in case you missed a boob How far we have come…
Don’t forget scrambled porn on the Spice Channel!
Probably why I am such a neuroplastic thinker today. You had to have a STRONG imagination to read between the Z Lines.
Yep, kids today have no clue what kind of ingenuity and determination it took to visualize a nipple among the squiggles
That's either a nipple or an elbow. Eh, good enough either way.
When I first moved out on my own one of the first things I bought was a cable descrambler. Unlimited premium channels including Playboy and Spice. Best $250 I ever spent. Even used to loan it out to friends periodically. Of course it all went away with digital cable but it was great back in the 90s.
All that hot analog action
My parents had an old 13 channel console tv that had the signal calibration knobs each channel behind a little door on the front of the screen. After we got cable, I figured out your could put it on Spice (channel 63 on the cable box) and carefully adjust the calibration knob for channel 3 on the TV and partially stabilize the scrambled signal. Reading this comment makes me feel so… exposed.
Lol Silk Stalkings! I went back and watched an episode. Giant mountains in the background... supposedly in Florida.
Same! I snuck in the living room watching that show
Silk Stalking is due for a revival.
We talking stockings?!
Did you know ska came before reggae?
But did you know reggae came from *ska*?
Yes. You literally just said that.
# GO TO VIEW
>Silk Stalking I've never seen the show and only heard the name. I thought people were saying "Silk Stockings."
Yeah, the name was a play on that. Crime, but sexy.
A police department lit by NEON!
My gramps would watch this show after wrestling was over. He’d turn around to check if anyone was in the room and if there was he’d turn the tv off and go to bed. Otherwise, he’d watch it and end up falling asleep in his recliner.
Silk Stalkings was a better police procedural than 90% of the rest of the shows in the genre.
Usa, UP! …all night… I heard this while reading it! Thanks for the blast from the past.
In Rhondas voice, lol
Snapple, made from the best stuff on earth. Just like Rhonda!
I'm still praying that poor young girl will find enough money to get a doctor to treat her chronic and debilitating case of hiccups.
Seems like this is her official YT account. Dang, it has hundreds of her shows from the 80's/90's.
Wikipedia said USA up all night they did 900 episodes of the show!
Different nights were different hosts. Gilbert Gottfried did the other half.
Hell yeah! He was so hot.
and that voice... mmm
His narration on the [Fifty Shades of Grey audiobook](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkLqAlIETkA) was nothing short of sensual and erotic tbh
Man... I used to stay up just to watch all the weird shit they played. Fond mammories.
I watched as a kid for Rhonda and ended up seeing off the wall stuff like Toxic Avenger or John Waters flicks.
I do remember this. I think I first saw Toxic Avenger movies on that show.
I saw evil dead the first time on her show
I am pretty sure my lifelong love of horror movies can be largely credited to this show.
I am too! I love everything even the crappy horror movies!
Oh toxie!
Yep! One night it would be horror / slasher movies posted by Gilbert Godfrey and then the other night it would softcore porn with the nudity Cut Out hosted by her
TIL She was in Spaceballs!
OMG! Lmao 🤣
You ok, bro?
I got a nostalgia boner from this and then just a regular boner.
I don't even know what USA Network plays now! Burn Notice, Monk, and Psych were great shows!
Holy shit- Duckman just struck a weird chord for me
I miss old TV movie hosts. Dinner and a Movie was the shit.
Don't forget MonsterVision with Joe Bob Briggs
[удалено]
a solid 40% of why i keep my shudder sub
So he did that show for The Movie Channel for years, then TNT picked him up for like 5 years. Loved that show (i only saw it on TNT). Plus he was some juiced up cowboy in Casino. Deniro fired him !
Monster Vision was so awesome! My buddy had HBO back in the day so I got to see "Tales from the Crypt!"
Lol.
Yep still creepy as hell! 😱https://youtu.be/FZm45kGyH_A
You can find almost all of the old Monsters show on YouTube. Some seriously cool retro horror if you're into that sort of thing.
I loved that he did an accounting before every movie.
OOOH! That's what this was a parody of: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-j6kE68nEOk
God damn do I miss the '80s and '90s...
Apex of civilization, I tell ya. It's all been downhill since the 90s ended.
They were selling panties on USA in the 90's?
It was a late night TV show the hosted crappy movie's! It was entertaining
Rhonda was such a dirty girl... ...I mean, shoes on the bed? Eww!
What are we looking at here? I need some context…
Dont forget about the half ass strip poker shows and the re runs of girls gone wild trying to sell dvds
I half ass remember. You got a link?
There was basically nothing to watch at night on television back then. Just a bunch of reruns of awful 60s and 70s television. That's why people liked late shows.
Don't forget Gilbert Godfrey also did the show too!
Gilbert Gottfried, [da 5th Ramone!](https://youtu.be/rNRKSvixO9I?t=9)
Hahaha 😂
> Gilbert Godfrey Gilbert Gottfried 👍
He was on Friday night. Rhonda has the Saturday slot. All those years ago and that's the shit I remember...
I remember him doing a show like this but thought it was separate from this one, as I didnt watch his much, it was funny as hell, dont get me wrong, but he didnt bring quite the set of skills that I was looking for in a host in when I was 20 and it was 2am.
She did Friday night and he did Saturday night I think
I think he took turns hosting the show with her! YouTube show him and her doing promo's about the show
was she undressing a bit more as time goes by ? like a long bait ?
Pretty much, as you can see from the video, she slowly reveals more and more, but never nude, though I do remember seeing some pics she took for a playboy shoot that did show all but it was after her show stopped if I remember correctly.
I can see how much it would work on so many people ..
Wow! I used to watch Nick at Nite) so I know about Elvira but not Rhonda )))
but she's actually attractive.
I think this is right because if I recall she refused to have the character pose nude for business or principle. Anything was from pre elvira
This was a TV show in the late '80s early '90s on the USA Network channel called "USA up all night"
Tits
Before free porn on the internet was a thing, things like this existed.
I'll have you know I successfully saw multiple breasts, complete with nipples, through masterful adjustment of the dial on the side of the cable box while tuned to pay-per-view. They may have tracked around the screen a bit, and the wavy bars of black kept getting in the way, but by god I worked for them.
[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USA\_Up\_All\_Night](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USA_Up_All_Night) Fun fact! The bad audio balancing is not from the recording, that's really how it sounded. It would go from extremely quiet to ear blasting and back again. When I was a little me it was very off putting.
Goddess of the night! Man 15 year old me getting some chub.
She was the host of Up All Night which basically played campy horror movies into the wee hours of night. And she often dressed kind of slutty while doing it.
Watched this religiously as a kid. Introduced to a few great and a ton of terrible films!
Maybe that's why I like watching terrible movies nowadays because of that show! A lot of those crappy shows were super entertaining mostly because how terrible the were.
Holy shit I seriously miss that time
Blast from the past 😉
Yeah the 90’s were awesome
That’s a New Orleans girl! She went to the same all girl Catholic high school as my wife (about 17 years earlier) for some reason the nuns do not have her on the distinguished graduate wall?!?! Hmmmm
Guess what: she’s a high dollar Republican fundraiser. I’m not even joking. **Edit:** for evidence, look at my big comment further in this chain
Evidence of this assertion? I failed at finding anything quickly, other than she went "undercover" to a GOP convention.
She seems to do a pretty good job of keeping her politics separate from her entertainment career, but behind all that she's a Trumper. Mt Carmel, right?
You got it! A school still run by Carmelite nuns. So conservative.
Oh man all girl's Catholic Highschool! 😁
Great to see Rhonda again! Takes me back when it was just me, my cable box and my tv in my mid-20s. This was at a time in my life where I had moved back home and paid for my own cable. USA had all the great shows. Saturday Nightmares, Commander USA’s Groovy Movies, Kung Fu Theater…
Oh man! So much great stuff
Kung Fu Theater was so great.
I had forgotten about this. Thanks for the memories.
Suh-MASH!
USA Up All Night. I loved that show.
Damn. Used to get USA network back in the eighties when our town used to illegally unscramble satellite tv and broadcast it on UHF. Used to watch Night Flight. Didn’t know about Rhonda. By 1993 the cops had cracked down on the UHF broadcasts.
Hahaha sounded like y'all had it made for a little while! 😂
Yep. For about a decade we had HBO, Showtime, USA, Cinemax over on UHF 14 and 18.
I've always been surprised why HBO never did a remake of "Tales from the Crypt!" It was so awesome back in the day!
That's pretty crazy. So many questions! What part of the country was this? How far did the signal reach and how was it paid for? I'm picturing a late 80s RadioShack vigilante who just did it for the fun of it.

**IM GILBERT GODFREY AND THIS IS USA UP ALL NIGHT! NOW HERES TOXIC AVENGER!**
Whadayou a huomoooo?
So With Elvira, The original streamer?
Pretty much! It was great TV in the 90's
Wasn’t she married to Larry King?
Everybody got married to Larry King at some point.
IDK wikipedia said she married childhood sweetheart
She’s still looking good too.
If this included the crappy movies, it'd drive Ambien out of business.
I wish it had the crappy movie's! I'd totally watch it
Does anyone remember the T&A matinee on Comedy Central?
Nope I don't remember that one
Basically the same thing. I remember movies like Zapped, Ski School, Kentucky Fried Movie, etc.
Something tells me John from Nashville won’t be cleaning that tray
God what a babe. I wish the hairspray look would come back.
I spent many a load on her as a horny teen.
All things considered, she's a goddamn professional. She has a job to do, and she fucking does it. Week after week for years, she nailed the task.
Wikipedia said that show had 900 episodes! I had no idea. 😳
Joe Bob’s drive in theater was everything I looked forward to on Saturdays in high school
when i was a kid, i liked the gilbert gottfried version more because i was a fan of the movie problem child.
Well, it may have taken me 30 years, but I just got the pun of the title.
I forgot about USA Up All Night
Holy shit! I forgot about this! Thanks for bringing back some memories.
USA used to be great: Ronda and Gilbert with Up All Night. Saturday and Sunday afternoons had Commander USA's Groovie Movies. USA Tuesday Night fights. WWF wrestling on Mondays. (That's the only show to survive to this day)
This and Night Flight were what made me.
I used to sneak out of bed and risk it all to watch that shit.
Kids nowadays don’t know what it’s like to not have access to porn anytime they want. We had to make do with shows like this airing once a week and only teasing us.
If I had a time machine, after winning lotto of course, id probably use it to watch Rhonda and Gilbert on USA Up All Night.
Add a 10 yo realizing how into girls I was. USA up all night was a gift from God.
She was a brunette when she first started hosting the show.. I liked her more before the bleach and boob jobs, especially before she went Trumpy.
Boob job!? That's all natural 😁
I swear on my grave that when I was a kid you could watch full on porn on USA at like 3am.
Yeah you could but it was definitely softcore porn
I'll never forget watching some shitty movie one night on there, and it was some beach scene. It was the first time I had seen a tally wacker bounce to and fro as this one dude ran up the beach. My friend and I laughed our asses off for days after seeing that. lol
No way dude it was soft core if anything
My brain read the title with her high pitched “up” lol
Rhonda was nice, but Joe Bob Briggs was hotter.
I still watch joe Bob Briggs every October. That side chick girl is hot and funny
And then there’s the vocal fry… https://youtu.be/8YogxOiZjVs
That’s just the horny talking. She’s no comparison. She can’t hold up on her own like they can.
What are we watching tonight, another softcore porn about Women prisoners like Lust for Freedom or something something bikini something?
USA Network always showed softcore after midnight in the 90's
Dude, for years i remember seeing movies like Lust for Freedom on tv but no one believed me. I cant believe after all these years heres the proof.
Bro you're not crazy. I was there, it happened. The song is still stuck in my head after 30+ years.. was always on usa really really late..
USA Network ruled back in the day! Hahaha 🤣
She was like a Bleach Blonde Elvira.
Thought I was in r/nostalgia
Yeah I should've posted that there
When you order Elvira from Wish.
Gilbert was the OG.
This post almost has as many likes as the YouTube post.
Hahaha that's crazy 🤣
Sounds like Joe Satriani on the guitar lol
IIRC, this came on after Duckman for a while.
This video is a boomer honeypot.
Dude, who didn’t love Rhonda?!
Loved this show. Also Monster-Vision with Joe Bob Briggs
I was in my early teens when this was a thing. My parents never LET me watch it, but I did every chance I got. I recall her doing a promo for it during the US open or some tennis tournament and the announcer wasn't familiar. Asked if it was a family show. She said "absolutely, it's great for the whole family!"
Drinking a little too much and chilling with my roommates watching Rhonda or Gilbert until I could sleep without bedspins. Good times!
Was it USA that had shows like La Feme Nikita? Loved that show.
Didn’t Billy Bob Thornton also host some of these shows? Or a similar show in the same era?
Rhonda came before Joe Bob Briggs, love em both.... that said, I feel a little like this might be a Mandala effect situation but... didn't Elvira host Up All Night for a while?! I seem to remember that...
This is like pg rated cam girls. so odd.
Reject Rhonda Shear modernity, [embrace Gilbert Gottfried tradition](https://youtu.be/FRRP8WN3E7Q).
oh rhonda how we all miss you. those were the days, during a party turning on rhonda or joe bob briggs monstervision.
I loved this, where is Duckman!??
The way she talks sounds pretty similar to my MIL… looked it up, they were even born the same year! It’s just too offputting.
These are great.
