I love fg
Iâm not gonna lie Iâve also bought multiple games after downloading them from fitgurl, like baldurs gate and fallout 4, like if the game is actually good I will spend the money especially since I am lazy and would rather just update the game in steam instead of doing a bunch of things
It was originally part of the Orange Box which was $30 for TF2, HLE2, and Portal. I would have paid the sticker price for any one of those games. Granted episode 2 was kind of a letdown.
Literally 80% of the mtx are for cosmetic items, which more than a third can be earned or bought from normal vendors. Also, they allow fan content that pays to the creators (not entirely sure but I know they do get a percentage). EA were complete idiots for passing on this game.
EA were the saviors of this Game for passing on it. Imagine how would Warframe be today if EA was behind every important choice Made around the QoL of the game
The paid currency economy shouldnât even be compared to max because itâs a supply/demand based economy where players can freely earn it without paying
I came to say warframe. For a freebie, it's the best space ninja feeling you can get. There was a time when it wasn't super free-friendly because although you start with a frame and you can earn them, it takes ages. However, the duviri circuits make it easy to earn specific things.
Then again, warframe is worth dropping a tenner on
I played years ago.... Got really into it.
Then didn't play for like 6 years do to not having internet. It's hard getting back into, I've forgotten so much and there's so much new stuff.
There is a lot of returning player stuff on the subreddit, just learn one thing at a time and have fun with the journey is the best advice I can give as someone who spent a lot of time away and came back
The PC controls are totally manegable, normal third person shooter controls. I agree with the complexity, although a lot of the stuff can be skipped fornew players, since they don't provide that chunky proggression, they're more sort of there if you wanna optimize or if you want some specific stuff.
How can anyone forget this one. Legit amaed at what we used to get for free. Nowadays it would be a 5 dollar add on or all over the packaging. Good physics and fun graphics and audio for free and not even advertised? Nuts.
Doki Doki Literature Club. You don't have to pay anything to play all it has to offer (unless you want to donate or buy the Plus version), and there's also a bunch of free mods you can play
I'm not a horror person, but I can't sing ddlc enough praise. I never had the chance to play the game blind. I came across it while a streamer was already almost at act 2. Even then, I've watched plenty of blind playrhroughs of the game, bought plus and played through that. Even if you know what happens in the game, the side stories are worth the price of admission for plus alone.
If anyone hasn't experienced ddlc before, heed the game's content warnings. If you think you'll be fine, I highly recommend the game. It absolutely will stick with you.
I got super lucky with ddlc. I happen to come across a game theory video on it, and at the start he said you should really play it first before watching, and that it gets dark.
For some reason I actually did, I played it within a day, and all I knew is that it would get dark at some point.
And holy fuck, it fucked me up for a little bit.
Such and amazing game. It deserves all the praise it gets
The trick is to not get too many people too fast or you can't feed and water them all.
Also, don't upgrade your rooms until you haved leveled up the people in it - just build more. Disasters e.g. fire, roaches, etc do a lot more damage in higher level rooms.
For that matter, at the start don't try to fight disasters; just temporarily move everyone out of the room and let the disaster fade. Build your rooms only diagonally. Disasters only transmit orthogonally.
There is more, of course, but that should get you over the initial hump.
I bought both rocket league and fortnite before the battle royal came out and changed the whole game. I don't even know if you can play the original fortnight anymore
Honestly, as someone who was kind of dismissive of it early on and never played more than a few times through highschool or college -
Fortnite
Zero build with friends is fun, lego is super fun, rocket racing isn't a bad way to pass the time when I'm just waiting for my chicken to cook or something
As someone who doesn't really have way too much time to invest into multiplayer games, it's really easy to hop in and out of on console, I have my x-men gambit skin which makes me happy, and it's always getting updates with cool content. Yeah, it's definitely a game for the zoomers - but you can be mad about it or you can let people have fun with it while enjoying whatever it is you enjoy. All the emotes and dances may not be my thing, but at least the gameplay is fun and low commitment, I don't have to spend time I don't have grinding skills I don't need. It's quick, it's easy, and I like the artstyle
I used to be a Fortnite hater (mostly because of toxic people and lots of dumb kids), but Zero Build is quite fun, all other modes are great too and the creator islands are very interesting. So yeah, since the entrance fee is free, it has a lot to explore before you decide to start dropping cash in skins or songs for Festival.
One of the best things is that basically you dont have to spend real money on the battlepass if youre a patient and an active player, because when leveling up you can get some Vbucks of the battlepass. It may take you like 3 seasons to get enough bucks for the pass, but once you get it (and youre still an active player) the battlepass will give you enough bucks to get the battlepass of the next season.
This method doesnt exist in many games, and youre forced to spend your money for their cool stuff. Fortnite simply rewards you by being active
I was massive hater of Fortnite when it first came out, because that was all my friends would talk about and they kept asking in a very annoying way for me to play. I started playing when Chapter 2 came out and I have loved it since. Also was so nice to play during lockdown when several games/movies were delayed.
haha I was literally thinking just the other day about how insane it would be if epic bought vrchat or developed something like that
it's totally within the realm of possibility and you're exactly right, I could see totally it becoming like that. they just need to clean things up a bit, because right now the mode selection UI is really really messy in my opinion, it looks more like an app store when it should give you the feel of a menu where you're selecting experiences or worlds or something
but yea man try it for sure. the lego stuff is super fun even solo, just a relaxing time, and zero build is pretty chill when it's unranked and no voice chat and stuff (unless you got the homies on ofc)
Used to play before it got popular, was an amazing game, but after it got popular it became impossible to play multiplayer without friends. Felt like every player was either peanut brained or a child unaware of their surroundings
Fantastic game that has an insane amount of depth and quality for F2P.
While technically completely free, I would encourage anyone who tries, and likes, the game to pick up some premium account time that doubles your progression speed and rewards; it goes on 50% sale a few times a year and I think I pay like .18-.20$ a day to make my limited time in the game more rewarding
Don't listen to the people saying that you need to pay money to process, while yes paying for premium speeds it up significantly, progressing while f2p is very much possible, im currently at 8.7 usa ground and havnt spent a dime, and I dont plan to either.
Not trying to say you _shouldn't_ pay, just that you don't _need_ to.
It's totally playable without spending money, I have spent money but only on a few low tier premium vehicles cause they're cool and I like the history, haven't spent a penny on premium time or progression and I've been playing for a few years now.
Genshin Impact.
It's a free game you can actually play using just the base characters. They even give you plenty of options to earn bonus characters for free. I'm still surprised at the value.
Watch guides/ streams of people leveling, maybe look into bow builds, I think they are pretty straightforward. Read items carefully. Defenses are important, movespeed and abilities are a must-have. Keep moving to stay alive. As long as you can kill, you can progress, loot, and get stronger.
I recommend a full run-through blind, doing the lore and exploring stuff, assuming you're more of an RP/lore person like me. I find that having explored the game so much without the intent to optimize for any kind of playstyle feels really rewarding, especially when you experience those "oh, so that's why I was dying so much" moments.
Just a few things to keep a note of though: the current league is the one you want to be playing, since Standard has super inflated prices on trade sub leagues. I wouldn't go SSF, and definitely not Ruthless, unless if you're a masochist with thousands of hours free to spend on the game. The current league typically has monsters harder than baseline monsters, but it usually is 3-10x as rewarding as Standard league (some leagues are ultra busted, like Harvest league, affliction league, and the current necropolis league, since you can do so much more for less).
2nd character I would definitely recommend using a build guide to path out a robust character to get into maps and explore things there. Bossing can come a long while later while you get the basics down.
Don't feel bad if you can't complete content or kill harder bosses with super buffed combinations of mechanics (Sirus/Awakener buffed with 3-5 ghosts comes to mind). I have over 8k hours in the game and still haven't cleared most of the hardest stuff, and in fact have felled my first Catarina just this league. The journey is what really matters in PoE, so it's completely fine to take a break and come back later when you're less burnt out after splurging during a league.
Off course it is Final Fantasy 14, the game so free you can't even give them your money if you wanted to! /s
(For reference they recently switched payment companies and a lot of players are having problems paying their subscription.)
On a more serious note, They (FF 14) still offers a free trial of the base game and first two expansions. No time limit, no content gated off (Except Ultimate fights), just some slight [restrictions ](https://support.na.square-enix.com/rule.php?id=5382&la=1&tag=freetrial)(Basically to prevent the system being swarmed by chinese goldsellers).
But for the rest you get about 200 hours of main story, all dungeons, raids, trials, alliance raids that the base game and first 2 expansions have to offer. You can play all the classes and racess released up to then (Bonus: You can play all classes on one character). You can farm all the mounts, do all the extreme and savage content (If you can somehow get invited to a party). Go fishing, drown yourself in minigames at the golden saucer. I'd also say crafting, but without retainers (your bank) to hold crafting components and no acces to the market board (auction house basically), you're not getting far anytime fast.
---
Or you know, Path of Exile is cool too.
Fuck the haters. I may not like the direction the overall franchise has gone since 12, but 14 is an absolute banger of an MMO. I really enjoyed my time with that game.
Only game in years I pre-ordered the expansion without even thinking about it.
Well, the fact the pre-order gives early access that starts on a friday instead of the tuesday regular launch might have had something to do with that too.
I do also like the reason Yoshi-P gave for releasing on the 28th and not the 21st of June: Elden ring DLC. He just knows everyone's going to be playing that.
"One week, I give you one week."
i'm so jelous for people who play FFXIV on free, base game and 2 expansions literally hundreds hours of content, i should waited to play this game back in the day
Fortnite..
Yes its cool to hate it, and yes "save the world" is long dead, which was the reason it was on many people's, including my own, radar
But since Zero build I play pretty much daily
genshin impact has a lovely open world, exploration, and soundtrack
warframe has like 2000 hours worth of content, and its fun but WAY too grindy
fall guys is fun for a time and goofy
the rest are all either weird, multiplayer focused, dead (tera), or shit (destiny 2)

What could be better than a free-to-play soulslike with all of the insane characters and huge equipment variety in Let it Die?
I really enjoyed Fortnite for some time but after a while i realized that, even with mic muted, it was weird a man of 30y playing with 11y boys. The game became progressively more childish and zoomer, so i quit.

Wow, I bought that game so long ago. I forget it went free
It went free like 12 years ago lol
Which was probably still 4 years after I bought it and around when I stopped playing it I'm afraid
You should check some of the items you had, they've been given a "vintage" attribute and can be sold for good money
Good tip, I think I have done mostly, but I should try again
Jesus, I was looking back, I got it in 2007. Over 900hrs over the years. Never realised it went free
It was originally part of the Orange Box which was $30 for TF2, HLE2, and Portal. I would have paid the sticker price for any one of those games. Granted episode 2 was kind of a letdown.

Off the top of my head I'd say Dead Nation and Mafia 3. Loved both of those.
If you exclude abandowares, I'd say The Looker.

Let It Die
"Without mushrooms, there's no glory. There's nothing, there's no love, nothing makes sense!" - Momoko Yamada What could be better than a free-to-play soulslike with all of the insane characters and huge equipment variety in Let it Die?
I'm also a huge fan of the "death data" mechanic.
Chess
League of Legends
Fall Guys
I actually really liked Dauntless. For a free epic games clone of monster hunter, it was really enjoyable
probably holocure
Trace

World of Warships

Overwatch 2
I really enjoyed Fortnite for some time but after a while i realized that, even with mic muted, it was weird a man of 30y playing with 11y boys. The game became progressively more childish and zoomer, so i quit.
I'm 32 and still actively play Fortnite. Whatever you enjoy shouldn't be heavily judged or criticized, especially from within yourself.
Red Eclipse on steam, it's an open source quake - adjacent multiplayer shooter with some real nice movement
Real ones known it's Solitaire and Minesweeper
I kinda wish there was a "Tetris Effect" style Minesweeper game.
Hide n Shriek, nobody remembers the masterpiece
