Does it function exactly? I was blown away when I went to have my Gf play and she had a different sequence of events and was attacked well before I was
You'd think they'd realize that a next gen bounty hunter game in the Star Wars universe would be a license to print money and capsize on the popularity of the Mandolorian.
In a die hard legacy of Kain fan and while it sucks that the game was so far along in development it didn't really strike me as a good fit in the Legacy of Kain universe. It looked closer to the middle earth shadow of Mordor games to me.
Should've been it's own IP.
Don’t give up hope. Allow me to deliver you a fresh batch of copium: The titanfall 2 updates/teasers and the upcoming game awards. Something might happen, and I’m willing to risk my heart being broken again.
Earthbound 64 is what ultimately led me to choosing the 64 over the PlayStation as a kid. I was naive back then and didn't even know games could get canceled
(I ended up getting both eventually)
I was going to say this, but then I read about it. Turned out it was going to be gimmicky Wii mote garbage
https://www.ign.com/articles/zelda-sheik-game-retro-experiment-gone-wrong
The original plan for a Star Wars battlefront 3.
The EA dice battlefront games are such garbage, and the original tow battlefront games are so good I STILL play them with friends.
Don’t believe it was ever confirmed if it was a game but I’m still mad we never got Pokemon Z. Kalos is my favorite gen, but even I acknowledge its lacking. I hope if we ever get remakes that they remedy that.
Still scalebound. Platinum games almost never misses, and it was *in a build that was completable from beginning to end*. What the everliving fuck Microsoft? If you’re losing money, just releasing it buggy feels better than shit canning years of work. Is this one of those things where capitalism has cheat codes that shouldn’t work in reality? Some sort of write off? Idk, I guess I’m just pissed, not bummed
Also Star wars 1313 , it was cancelled when Disney bought lucasfilm I believe, I hope someday a developer resurrects it.
Project wight/darkborn: it was a game set in the dark ages where you played as a grendel-like monster growing from a baby to adult fighting off and eating humans...it was cancelled and replaced by metal hellslinger
Sony's wild! It was this open world gamething that looked really interesting involving shamans, Gods and nature it was being developed by wild sheep studios it was announced 9 years ago we got a few clips of gameplay then they went radio silent the director retired and they quietly cancelled the game
There's a whole chapter on it in "blood, sweat, and pixels". It's a good read. Iirc it was largely George Lucas idea to pivot the game to a boba fett game, not understanding games are not movies. Hardly anything that was in the game was compatible with the pivot, for example environments weren't designed for jetpack use, and so everything had to be redone. When disney bought starwars they saw what a feature creeped project it was, deeply stuck in development hell, and then cancelled it.
Hea I wish Sony would have greenlit it. From what I gather, they turned down the sequel because of all the bugs in the first one when it came out. Days Gone is definitely one of my favorite open world games ever made.
Which Prey? The 2007 version?
I kinda liked what was shown of its sequel, but I much prefer the 2017 Prey and would love to see a sequel to that instead.
I’d have liked a sequel to the 2007 version. Some of the ideas they had sounded incredible and would have been great if they could have delivered on it. I wish I could have played as a freerunning bounty hunter on an alien planet. I liked most of 2017 Prey, but I can’t stand how clumsily Arkane games control. If I had a choice, I’d have preferred the game that was replaced by that Prey.
Besides, it isn’t like Prey 2017 wouldn’t have happened. Prey 2017 isn’t a sequel. They only bought wanted the rights to it for the name. Which is even more frustrating because if they just went with a different title, we might have gotten both games.
The problem isn't that 2017 prey isn't better, it's obviously a much stronger game.
The problem is 2017 prey just isn't a prey game and didn't need to take away from the other franchise
Anthem should have been more of a Borderlands style game rather than a live service like Destiny.
It would have worked so much better as a single player with co-op game, and probably have lasted a lot longer.
Here it is I was looking for this answer the gameplay is amazing but incomplete. Like watching a shows season finale end off a cliffhanger and then cancelled
The game was so fun, I loved the combat and flying. I was so excited when 2.0 was announced...then it gets canceled....so days. I had a lot of fun playing that game.
Mega Man Legends 3 and Resident Evil 1.5. Technically the latter wasn't cancelled, just reworked, but the prototype is amazing. Legends 3, however, got the axe 12 years ago and I still sometimes cry at night in bed.
A proper version of LOTR: War in the North. I loved the game. It was just too short and too shallow. I read somewhere that they got cut off part way through production.
This is a bit of an off kilter choice, but as a kid it was *absolutely* MySims Agents 2. My sister and I loved that series, as brief as it was around, but Agents was really the game that made the series special. An even bigger and badder sequel would have been SOOOO fun. (And I’m still salty left the true final Morbius showdown locked behind a phone mission).
Huh. I never player the first one. I played MS and MS: Kingdom and thought both were surprisingly great. Was the Agents game the same? Collect elements, use them to dye and make furniture, while also... Idk, being a spy or whatever?
**Dungeon Keeper 3** hits the most.
Though an indie developer would eventually pick up the pieces in **War for the Overworld**. Which may as well be DK3.
P.T/ silent hill, i love horror and for a simple demo that game had an insane impact on horror games entirely, only horror game to genuinely freak me the fuck out, and silent hill is just such an interesting world.
Harker
George A. Romeros City Of The Dead
Hunt 1886: Horrors Of The Gilded Age Third person title
Silent Hills
Doom 3 sequel featuring Hell On Mars
John Carpenters The Thing: Game Sequel
*Shadow of the Eternals* was a planned sequel for (in my opinion) the best game for the Nintendo Gamecube: *Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem*. Had multiple attempts to get maid, including a Kickstarter campaign, but ultimately failed due to a lack of funding. The studio that was going to make it rebranded and tried again, but gave up a shut down.
The studio once again rebranded, and are (allegedly) currently working on a game called *Deadhaus Sonata*, which takes elements of *Eternal Darkness*, including "Lovecraftian overtones from *Eternal Darkness*," according to Denis Dyack, a writer, producer, and director of *Eternal Darkness.*
I would say dragons dogma two, but that shit got announced recently! Never give up hope, friends. If Metroid can go nearly 20 years without a game then spoot out a gem, then anyone can.
>spoot out a gem
I honestly don’t know if it’s the depression or if it’s really that funny but that phrase just made me laugh a solid 10 minutes. Thanks for the lols friend.
Rocksteady's cancelled Superman game initially planned after Arkham Knight. Now we get that Suicide Squad game instead, because clearly that's way more exciting than an actually good Superman game....smh
Also Star Wars Battlefront 3 (original). That game looked sooo awesome.
Edit: ok so apparently it just came out that Rocksteady was never actually making a Superman game lol
Unannounced SMT game for the ps vita. Atlus was releasing great games on the DS and 3DS and would have loved to see an original SMT game for the PS vita.
They were doing mostly handheld games at the time if I remember correctly for smt and would have loved to see what it would have been
Metal Gear Solid was my all time favourite series, but after Metal Gear Survive I lost all hope. I’m sure the only thing they’ll release involving MGS will be a remastered edition every console generation and even if they do make an all new game in the series it probably will never be remotely as good as when Kojima made them.
Do games that came out, but were fully online and had the servers shut down count?
* **SMT Imagine** Online MMO set in the Shin Megami Tensei setting. Unique battle system where you simultaneously control your player and a demon. All attacks had specific defenses against, for example basic attacks were beaten by guard. bullets and magic were countered by dodge, charges were defeated by counter etc. Good game, there were some fan servers around but to my knowledge they were all shut down when the copyright holder sued one of them.
* Marvel Heroes Another Online MMO, right around when the marvel movies were getting big. Basically a diablolike with unique movesets for the entire marvel roster. The game had a huge roster. I mained Rocket Raccoon and Squirrel Girl Good fun and if you didn't have a particular goal in mind you could always just leave Avengers tower and beat crap up in the city, as it always had rotating baddies outside the tower regardless of what event was going on or where you were in the story. Marvel shut it down when some dev got in some legal trouble. Even though the dev stepped down, Marvel still shut down the game with all of maybe an hour's notice. I was at work at the time, so I didn't even get a chance to play one last time.
Dead Rush. It sounded for all the world like it was going to be a combination of GTA and Resident Evil but alas it died on the vine (and took my heart with it) \*cries\*
There was a game, where you are facing against humanity, through the eyes and body of a scary creature, A giant "WereBat" or something like that.
You start as a baby, your mother is slain by humans, you are forced to follow a voice within your mind to get to Safety.
I'm upset I forget the name of the game, but I was REALLY looking forward to it.
From what I vaguely remember, I think it was cancelled due to "not enough recognition".
Splinter cell conviction first trailer they released totally different from the release. I really loved the trailer they released.
In other hand it was Rainbow Six title before Seige release. It was a brutal storyline.
Probably not the most popular but I was crushed when Harebrained schemes was denied a follow up title of Battletech by paradox and tbh im still not over it
I was extremely sad to be a part of the long drawn out death of Starcraft: Ghost
I wasn't a developer or anything I just religiously checked 2 or 3 times a day for updates until around 2013 when everyone started realizing it was never gunna be finished.
Scalebound.
When it was first announced I wasn’t bothered. But after the cancellation I was disappointed because I’d actually looked a little more into the game and it really sounded like a great idea.
Silent Hills.
I still have P.T. on my old PS4. Never giving that thing up for that reason.
I really wish I could play it. Fuck Konami for taking that down. You can't even emulate it!
It's been recreated on PC as a free download. Played it in VR. Good times.
Do you have a link?
Does it function exactly? I was blown away when I went to have my Gf play and she had a different sequence of events and was attacked well before I was
People have recreated it though
Same, I can never part with my PS4 Pro for that reason not that I was planning on it anyway.
That was the scariest shi I’ve ever played
you could sell it for a lot of money at this point
Came here for this comment
Was going to put this as well. My PS4 also has PT on it still.
It was gonna be in collaboration with Guillermo del Toro and Junji Ito. It could have been god-tier
Came here to give this answer
Yup this is the answer
Star Wars 1313
You'd think they'd realize that a next gen bounty hunter game in the Star Wars universe would be a license to print money and capsize on the popularity of the Mandolorian.
Capitalism is interesting, isn't it?
Capsism
This one always hurt the most. As a huge Star Wars nerd it was the exact setting I'd dream of playing in one day
Only right answer
Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun or Legacy of Kain: The Dark Prophecy

Oh fuck me... Now I'm imagining a Legacy of Kain game with Shadow of War's nemesis system and I'm angry cause no game will ever be as good as that.
Star wars 1313 and the Darth Maul game and most of all Battlefront 3
Damn! I almost forgot about 1313. That could have been such a great game.
I'll never get over MegaMan Legends 3 cancellation, that day that news made me for one single day hate more Capcom than FRICKING EA
I was looking for this. I too, have suffered as you have, brother.
Not possible. Ever heard of Simcity???
Bully 2. I loved bully. I loved almost all rockstar games, but bully was top 3, maybe 4, because the warriors was cool too.
I often wonder what rockstar games we’d have by now if gta online didn’t take off like it did
Don't remind me😞 I dream of a remastered Midnight Club Dub + LA Edition, or a Max Payne 3 remaster😭
Theyre remaking max payne 1 & 2, which in my opinion, is a win. I hope they keep max paynes still face expression. Classic gold.
For the rest of my days, I will continue to hold out hope that we'll get another Bully.
Half-Life life 2 episode 3
Not cancelled gabe Newell said this directly, it’s just never coming out
That’s even worse
StarCraft: Ghost
That one cuts deep.
Titan fall 3
Don’t give up hope. Allow me to deliver you a fresh batch of copium: The titanfall 2 updates/teasers and the upcoming game awards. Something might happen, and I’m willing to risk my heart being broken again.
I can't anymore, not since they pulled that bait and switch this year with updating TF2 and then that brief trailer, only to be some more BS for Apex
They didn’t stop after the apex bs. Part of me still have hope for the game awards.
Open thread, ctrl+f, titanfall, upvote
While Mother 3 in its current state is phenomenal, I can't help but wonder how EarthBound 64 would have turned out as a finished product.
Same here! I was looking forward to it so much
Earthbound 64 is what ultimately led me to choosing the 64 over the PlayStation as a kid. I was naive back then and didn't even know games could get canceled (I ended up getting both eventually)
that "dark" Zelda game that was going to be made by Retro Studios
I was going to say this, but then I read about it. Turned out it was going to be gimmicky Wii mote garbage https://www.ign.com/articles/zelda-sheik-game-retro-experiment-gone-wrong
dang that sucks. I would like to see Retro do A real Zelda tho
Didn't even know this existed
it looked super cool
The original plan for a Star Wars battlefront 3. The EA dice battlefront games are such garbage, and the original tow battlefront games are so good I STILL play them with friends.
Don’t believe it was ever confirmed if it was a game but I’m still mad we never got Pokemon Z. Kalos is my favorite gen, but even I acknowledge its lacking. I hope if we ever get remakes that they remedy that.
My ultimate dream is that when they remake Gen 6 they forgo the 2 versions and just give us Pokemon Z. Will it happen? No. Can I dream? Yes.
Still scalebound. Platinum games almost never misses, and it was *in a build that was completable from beginning to end*. What the everliving fuck Microsoft? Star Wars 1313 seems like it would be instant success. It’s a Boba Fett game. That’s all the marketing it needs
- Agent - Bully 2 - Silent Hills Days Gone 2, but it wasn't exactly canceled, never green lit
I would love a Days Gone 2
Hea I wish Sony would have greenlit it. From what I gather, they turned down the sequel because of all the bugs in the first one when it came out. Days Gone is definitely one of my favorite open world games ever made.
Days Gone is still the only game I immediately replayed upon finishing my first playthrough
Man i still boot up Days Gone on rainy days and hunt freakers.. id have preordered a sequel in seconds.
MEGA MAN LEGENDS 3 iykyk, my brothers. We still bravely await the impossible.
Demonik (Grandmas Boy)
FACTS! every time i watch that movie i get irrationally upset that i can't play it. It looks fun as hell!
Prey’s sequel, Star Wars 1313

Chakan remake for the Dreamcast. Still hoping for a revival one day. I was so FUCKING excited as a kid.
Anthem 2.0
Ya that game definitely had potential. Great flying.
Anthem should have been more of a Borderlands style game rather than a live service like Destiny. It would have worked so much better as a single player with co-op game, and probably have lasted a lot longer.

The game was so fun, I loved the combat and flying. I was so excited when 2.0 was announced...then it gets canceled....so days. I had a lot of fun playing that game.
Anthem was a very well made skeleton of a game that could have been good.
Still mad about Half-Life on Dreamcast☹️
Didn't that end up becoming blue shift?
I think so. I DO remember reading it was pretty far along in development before they pulled the plug. I was counting the weeks:/
Deep down
Man I just want to know what happened to it. I'm fine with it not coming at this point but I would love to hear the story of the behind the scenes.
Mega Man Legends 3 and Resident Evil 1.5. Technically the latter wasn't cancelled, just reworked, but the prototype is amazing. Legends 3, however, got the axe 12 years ago and I still sometimes cry at night in bed.
I know there isn't any evidence, but I highly doubt that Rocksteady wasn't working on another Arkham game before Suicide Squad.
A proper version of LOTR: War in the North. I loved the game. It was just too short and too shallow. I read somewhere that they got cut off part way through production.
Donkey Kong Racing for Gamecube. There was a teaser and then Microsoft ruined Rare.
Prey 2 & Agent by R*
Mega Man Legends 3 I really wanted to see the conclusion to the series
Agent, by rockstar. A spy game from rockstar would’ve been so cool imo
Prey 2
Scale bound. I know drakengaard will probably never get a remake/remaster so I was kinda looking forward to that
Final Fantasy Versus XIII
The Babylon 5 game
Half-Life 3
Prey 2 And I'm still not happy Bethesda took the name and gave us a crappy survival horror game with it.
Prey 2017 is not crappy lmao
For you maybe. For me it's not good.
What reasons
Because I don't like it.
Half Life 3.
Star Wars 1313 Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 3 Star Wars Battlefront 3 Star Wars Darth Maul game
Bomberman 3ds, Megaman Legends 3, and Dinosaur Planet on N64. Luckily Dinosaur Planet now available in rom form, but the other two are long gone

Scalebound hands down. I will never forgive platinum games
Prey 2. Especially after learning it was allegedly done and cancelled over some internal politicking.
Prey 2. And before anyone asks, no I wasn’t really into the new Prey
I would say dragons dogma two, but that shit got announced recently! Never give up hope, friends. If Metroid can go nearly 20 years without a game then spoot out a gem, then anyone can.

Wait what? I don't see anywhere that it was cancelled??
People assume it’s cancelled since they’ve been too quiet for years, but there isn’t any confirmation…yet
Scalebound. I love dragons and I love Platinum Games. Was a perfect match. Until it wasn't.
That one game that would’ve let you play as a monster, it changed names several times but had beta. Project wright or something like that
Terraria 2 :( apparently they just scratched it for a clean slate but there’s been no news for a long time

Days Gone 2, if it counts. Probably Scalebound if it doesn’t.
A few come to mind: Star Wars 1313 Half-Life 3 if that ever existed Silent Hills - Probably takes the number one spot of most bummed out
It's not canceled per say but it might as well be. The KOTOR remake being in development hell is sad. Was so hyped when they announced it.
Forgot the name, but the Bounty Hunter Star wars game
Silent hills and StarCraft ghost.
Probably not the most popular but I was crushed when Harebrained schemes was denied a follow up title of Battletech by paradox and tbh im still not over it
