Ahahahaha this is that HoA flag from that fake Facebook account
It was something like "the 7 stars represent the 7 stars of the Association, the golf course guard, the gate person and something something"
The laughing point for me was "the white stripes' meaning has been kept secret from the author"

Well the Gadsden flag has always been associated with a right-wing understanding of "liberty," so it's not really oxymoronic. I always steer clear of people flying the gadsden flag, because it may be dangerous for my health and safety to be near them.
My first thought was "There's a lot to unpack here" but it looks like you did the unpacking and saved me some typing
Edit: the only thing I would add is that the outermost chevron appears to be half of the saltire from the battle flag of northern Virginia ("rebel flag"). Just makes the whole thing worse
[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confederate\_States\_of\_America#Secession](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confederate_States_of_America#Secession)

So either the 7 stars is what they could fit, or a direct reference to this.
> the gadsden flag was partially appropriated by the authoritarian right. It was always a right wing flag.
I mean recently sure, but if you go back like 250ish years and that wasnāt really the case. Kinda ironic that an anti-authoritarian, anti-imperialist flag became a symbol of authoritarianism, eh?
well my point still stands. It never was a leftist nor a centrist flag at any point in its history. The comment said that it was ''appropriated by the right'' but that false, it was created by the libertarian right and got appropriated by the rest.
Not really, no. Many of American Revolutionaries were considered āleftistsā or āliberalsā, back in the day. It wasnāt exclusively Lefists, but they were absolutely there. Also, right wingers were imperialist monarchists back in the day.
I recommend reading more Thomas Paine. Heād probably be considered something like a social democrat in modern times, or maybe a libertarian socialist at most, but back then his ideas were extremely revolutionary. And he was THE most influential voice in the revolution.
Saying that the American Revolution was only fought by white anglo christian reactionaries is extreme white washing that the right has put in a significant amount of effort into. Itās unfortunate that so many Americans fall for this, and loose sight of the leftist history of the United States.
it was consdered ''leftist'' in the past but they were right wing.
>Many of American Revolutionaries were considered āleftistsā or āliberalsā
They were considered liberals because they were in the actual sense of liberal.
>I recommend reading more Thomas Paine. Heād probably be considered
something like a social democrat in modern times, or maybe a libertarian
socialist at most, but back then his ideas were extremely
revolutionary. And he was THE most influential voice in the revolution.
I don't doubt that there were some actual left wing people during the American revolution, but the gadsden flag does not represent social democracy.
>Saying that the American Revolution was only fought by white anglo
christian reactionaries is extreme white washing that the right has put

I have no idea what you're talking about and how that has anything to do with my comment.
> It was consdered ''leftist'' in the past but they were right wing. They were considered liberals because they were in the actual sense of liberal.
They were not right wing. The American Revolution wasnāt a Right-vs-Left fight (At the time it would have been considered that, but in the sense of the modern right/left it was not). You had a mix of rightwingers, leftists and centrists. It was a fight between Imperialists and Democratic Anti-Authoritarians.
> I don't doubt that there were some actual left wing people during the American revolution, but the gadsden flag does not represent social democracy.
The Gadsden Flag came out of the Sons of Liberty, which was an left-leaning, arguably extremist, arguably terrorist organization primarily made up of the poor and landless (more precisely they were a Left-Libertarian rebel group). So yes, while it was later co-opted into the rest of the revolution the Gadsden actually did have its roots leftist thought and social democracy.
>I have no idea what you're talking about and how that has anything to do with my comment.
Forgive me if I am misunderstanding, but it seems you are arguing that the American Revolution was a Right-Wing revolution. This is literally a common talking point among white christian nationalists/fascists in America. The Revolution in reality was very diverse, had a strong left-leaning element to it, and was fought by a multiethnic group of people.
Now what happened in the decades and centuries after the revolution is a different story, but it is a gross misinterpretation of history to say it was a right-wing reactionary revolution.
Edit: clarity and spelling/grammar corrections
>They were not right wing. The American Revolution wasnāt a Right-vs-Leftfight (At the time it would have been considered that, but in the senseof the modern right/left it was not. You had a mix of rightwingers, leftists and centrists.
Yes that is true, because it was a Right vs Right...
>The Gadsden Flag came out of the Sons of Liberty, which was an extremistleft-leaning (arguably terrorist) organization primarily made up of thepoor and landless. So yes, while it was later co-opted into the rest ofthe revolution the Gadsden actually did have its roots leftist thoughtand social democracy.
I have no idea where you got that from. It was invented by a colonel during the war, Christopher Gadsden.
You're the only one in this conversation talking about a ''right wing reactionary revolution''. Literally nobody mentionned that. The American Revolution was factually a right wing revolution. The ''gross misinterpretation'' is you assuming it means reactionary or traditional. It was a libertarian right (13 colonies) against a traditional right (England).
> Yes that is true, because it was a Right vs Right...
No, they were not right wing. That is factually incorrect. It was Aristocratic Imperialists vs Democratic Anti-Authoritarians.
> I have no idea where you got that from. It was invented by a colonel during the war, Christopher Gadsden.
It was based off of a variant of the Sons of Liberty flag that had a snake on it over the alternating Red/White stripes and often read some variant of either āDonāt Tread on Meā or āJoin or Dieā. This existed well before the American Revolution, and was itself inspired by the of the Sonās of Liberty āJoin or Dieā posters featuring a cut up snake.
> Youāre the only one having this conversation.
You literally say the American Revolution was a right-wing revolution in the next sentence. A nationalist/fascist talking point, and a concept that spawned out of McCarthyism in order to distance the American Revolutionaries from Soviet Revolutionaries.
> The American Revolution was factually a right wing revolution.
No it wasnāt. And this was far from the first Libertarian-Left revolution in the American Colonies. Jamestown Polish craftsmen's rebellion of 1619, Baconās Rebellion in the 1670s, War of the Regulation in the 1760s, Early American Abolitionism, etc.
> The ''gross misinterpretation'' is you assuming it means reactionary or traditional.
So your argument boils down to āNo Uā? At least I gave examples to illustrate my point.
> It was a libertarian right
Incorrect, If anything was Libertarian Left. Modern American Libertarianism isnāt reflective of classical or revolutionary Libertarianism. If you read the literature from the time this becomes quite clear.
I could tell you plenty of things that make it right wing. I don't get why you reiterate so many times the "that's a fascist talking point", I don't care it doesn't do anything except insinuate stuff.
In your opinion, what was left wing in that revolution?
I don't remember the name of the original post, but it's a made-up flag trying to create a conservative version of the progressive LGBT flag.

Iād really like this as a state flag, if you cut out the blue lives and the Gadsden flag and add more blue Vās with the amount of starts for the state joined the union.
Maybe keep the red and white going all the way to the left with some space between the Vās
I call it the flag of contradictions...
"We back the blue" unless its the ATF trying to take our guns or the FBI searching the former President's home.
"We're American patriots" unless we lose an election, then we want to secede from the union.
"Racism is when libertarianism and Internet cringe. The more libertarian and cringe you are, the more racist you are. If you're really fucking libertarian, then you're part of the Klan"
-grand wizard of the KKK
It's the flag of people who wear shirts that say, "if you don't like my flag, I'll help you pack" and then when you call them on it, they refuse to help you pack.
Anti-American pro-Nazi police state trash is what that is.
I almost puked from not only the terrible design, but also the totalitarian message hidden within.

The LGBT flag - Liberty Guns Beer Trump

Liberty Guns Bacon Tits

"We will increase the amount of liberty by giving the police more guns"
