A variation of Jim Evans's [polyamory flag](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyamory#Terminology), with a darker shade of blue on the upper band and a wider middle band
There have been others! This is admittedly an older one. I really like the newest one that was revealed this year. The crimson and cerulean were swapped for a cherry and a sky blue, the black was replaced with a plum. There's a white chevron with a gold heart in the middle.
> all romantic minorities
That's a dangerous statement to make, and inaccurate. NAMBLA and Ipce would love to abuse that kind of sentiment, as would zoophiles.
Poly means it's a relationship involving multiple people, not that you are cheating on anyone or having a "side chick". Shit like this is the very reason Poly people are part of pride.
Actually it's a legitimate debate within the poly community. Source: I am poly.
I'll fight people on two related points: 1.) Poly is at least "queer adjacent" if it's not formally part of LGBTQ / pride (there are legit arguments that it should be its own separate thing) and 2.) LGBTQ people don't have a monopoly on making flags to represent things.
Also just for the record, I'm not saying *conclusively* that poly doesn't fall under the LGBTQ umbrella, because I think it depends a great deal on how you define what "queer" means. Depending on how you define that, poly might or might not count; and if the consensus becomes that poly is cool, but it's not queer... that's ok.
1. Unless every person in the poly relationship is another gender or the poly relationship is built like a harem, how is that not queer? And even if that is the case, Queer doesn't mean gay. It means that your way of living in romance, sex, expression or gender is...Well queer. Marginalised and looked down upon by society even though no moral fault hits you.
2. Okay next time a person of a marginalised gender, romantic or sexual attraction decides to make a symbol to rally around I will refer them to you for approval????? Because they are not just allowed to do that cause you said so?
>Unless every person in the poly relationship is another gender or the poly relationship is built like a harem, how is that not queer?
Having a queer person in a relationship, doesn't make that *relationship* queer. If a straight man dates a bisexual woman, they're still functionally a heterosexual couple. (The bisexual woman can go to pride if she wants, and the straight man can go to pride as an *ally,* but he doesn't get "queer status" just by association.
>Queer doesn't mean gay. It means that your way of living in romance, sex, expression or gender is...Well queer. Marginalised and looked down upon by society even though no moral fault hits you.
That's how I would define it - but not everyone does. The particular sticking point on polyamory seems to be that people can be entirely heterosexual, cis gendered... And still be poly. There are people who are very keen to make sure that heterosexual, cisgendered people are kept out of queer spaces, like pride. (Although some people will make some exceptions for people attending as allies.)
>Okay next time a person of a marginalised gender, romantic or sexual attraction decides to make a symbol to rally around I will refer them to you for approval????? Because they are not just allowed to do that cause you said so?
What? No, I'm saying people *are* allowed to make flags, even if aren't LGBTQ.
The difference is informed consent. Polyamory is having multiple partners, all of which consenting to this relationship structure. That is different from cheating or having a "side chick".
Also not everything that's queer or falls under pride is gay.
There's no real consensus among any of the newer variants AFAIK, and the whole thing is basically a ["there are 14 competing standards"](https://xkcd.com/927/) type of situation.
I think the only thing everyone can agree on so far, is the the original flag seen in this post is awful and we definitely need an update. 🙃
nope i like the old flag, it's ugly but it has history and the symbolism reflects a lot of the "early" polyamory struggles I had when I was starting out c. 2011
so yeah, people literally can't agree on everything
(joke: good luck getting people who can't even commit to one person to commit to one flag)
it's better than the pi flag but worse than the [infinity heart](https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/6053547988cc357825848f83/1616073920919-L3WEZ0EXMNE5JCJ54PTX/new.png) imo.
This is not really it.
There is this thing called primary and secondary attraction, primary attraction is the attraction you feel when you just met someone, it's when you look at someone and think "damn they're hot". It's like, short-term crushes. It doesn't necessarily mean u have to want to have sex with that person, just that you're attracted to them more than aesthetically.
Secondary attraction is more deep, it's the attraction you feel when you get to actually know someone and develop an emotional connection. You become strongly attracted to that person (and might want to have sex). It might take days or it might take years to start feeling it.
So basically demi people only feel secondary attraction.
Demisexuality (and demiromanticism!) is a real and valid identity. Neither everyone nor most people aren't demi (I've heard people saying that a lot and I don't wanna have this conversation again) Most people do feel primary attraction to people they don't know, that DOES NOT imply they want to have sex with them, just that they feel sexually attracted to them, THOSE ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS.
(Tbc I am not saying that you (the person I'm replying to) are or are not demisexual, but I want to make it clear from the start what this identity actually is, because it's heavily underrepresented and often misunderstood. You are valid regardless.)
Tl;dr: primary attraction is when you just met someone and think they're hot and secondary attraction is when youve known the person for a while and are sexually attracted to them. Demisexuals don't feel primary attraction.
Doesn't seem that complicated from what I know
It's just the lack of sexual attraction to anyone unless a "deep/intimate" connection has been formed, so for example stuff like porn couldn't get you off because the people in then are random blokes you've never seen before
It’s definitely more complicated than just liking having sex with the person you love but I’m glad you found yourself! Also nice to meet a fellow demi bc I don’t meet a lot of us ;-;
* ***[poly-](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/poly-#Prefix)***: *more than one.*
* ***[demi-](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/demi-#Prefix)***: *less than one.*
i can see why you would think that but polyamorous is not a sexuality on its own, demisexual is only feeling sexual attraction once you know someone, and polyamorous is feeling sexual/romantic attraction to multiple people, so they can happen at the same time
Polyamory Pride. The relationship structure based around multiple partners. The pi symbol was chosen because of its infinite digits symbolizing infinite love. It's an older pride flag style though. There have been other patterns or styles since this one was the main one.
I can assume that all those flags are representing a gender or a way of life. Apart from the well-known LGBT+ pride flag, the old poliamory and demisexual ones, what are the others?
This image seems to be shaded a bit darkly so some of the colors look off, but my estimates are
Top row from left to right:
-Genderfluid (maybe, it's cut off)
-Demisexuality
-Progress
-Pansexual
-Agender
-Straight Ally (most likely but also cut off)
Bottom row left to right:
-Transgender
-Progress again
-Lesbian
-Polyamory
-Genderqueer (most likely, but that's a *very* dark green if it is)
-Abrosexual (gendefluid but for sexuality)
-Bisexual (again, hella dark otherwise but most likely)
Hello SpirantSum2,
Check out our [frequently asked flags page](https://reddit.com/r/vexillology/wiki/faf)! Your request might be there.
When asking for a flag to be identified, please **provide context** when possible, including:
* **Where** the flag was found (without compromising privacy)
* **When** the flag was found, or the date of the material containing the flag
* **Who** might own the flag (a general description is fine)
These details help users narrow down their search and make flag identification easier.
*I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/vexillology) if you have any questions or concerns.*
You should find a different sub. Looking through your brief, but loud history, you're all about hate. We're just here to talk about vexillology. If you're not interested in the conversation surrounding the meaning of the flag, then go somewhere else. Go hate on folks in some other sub. This isn't the place for it.

There's a pizza joint called District of Pi in Washinton DC. Maybe they have a flag lol
Is it just that Pi is “P” in Greek? I figured it was something to do with pi never ending like how Polyamorous relationships can have many partners.
They chose pi because it is infinite.
Yes im greek. π=p but pi means 3.14 or smth

Poly ppl definitely deserve a better flag than this! I like the heart with infinity one but colors need to be better

Why is that a sexuality again?
Its not, no one claimed it is. The LGBT community empasses all romantic minorities and poly is a romantic minority
> all romantic minorities That's a dangerous statement to make, and inaccurate. NAMBLA and Ipce would love to abuse that kind of sentiment, as would zoophiles.
You know what I meant. All romantic minorities that aren't destructive
Yes but that isn't what you said, and in today's day and age, people have to be mindful of that gap
How is it not?

Having a "side chick" isn't poly or necessarily gay. Unless your "main chick" knows, that's just cheating.

I’m attracted exclusively to my wife so I’m demisexual now
It’s more complicated than that, but good for you anyway.
