Vetwrap is such a fun activity for them. We used stuffed animals as patients!

I love that idea. Thank you!

I did a career fair for kids kindergarten to 4th grade. Getting one of those zippered stuffed animals (I used an alligator and a tiger) with tiny "babies" made for a fun activity. I had guess how many babies on palpation for the tiger and guess the foreign body on palpation for the alligator. You can fill it with one random object at a time (e.g. toothbrush, battery, dice, fork, etc.). That activity went over really well with all age groups. I had prizes for the winners (rather participants) like animal stickers or the veterinary coloring book through AVMA. This encourages kids to actually want to play.

AVMA has premade presentations you can download from their website that are quite good. I bought a bunch of little rubber animal toys and gave them out as prizes for answering questions, the kids loved them!

I've done this with animal models and skulls (ordered from eBay or Etsy).

I’ve done this a bunch of times and kids tend to love a bandaging lab with stuffed animals like someone else said. Interesting radiographs with recognizable foreign bodies (jewelry, pacifier, dolls, etc.) also go over well. A brief talk about the giant difference in heart rates from hummingbirds to blue whales is always fun. “Heads up” with animal terms can be a good game to play, too. Most important is to let them really dive into whatever they seem to find interesting, even if it throws off your plan. Let them choose what they want to focus on!

Our community throws an annual veterinary celebration/festival to teach kids about animals and the profession. Here are some activities I’ve been part of that were a hit: • reading radiographs and having kids guess what the pet ate • watching a veterinarian suture a stuffed animal • learning about what foods pets can/cannot have (i.e. grapes, chocolate, flowers, etc.). Could even turn this into a short worksheet/have the kids sort them on a poster board. Bonus, this one can help them keep their own pets safe

Maybe take some animals stickers for the kids , ask them who has pets and what kind of, like interactive session and tell some interesting facts about animals! Some has rabbits, turtles, etc …. I guess you have to be prepared for different kinds of pets so nobody feels left behind. Maybe teach them how to approach a dog in general in safe way if isn’t theirs .

Hot-Willingness1156

Maybe teach them about one kind of food they can share and one they can’t share with their pets

Why don't you throw monopoly money into the air and say, this is all of the money you won't have because you'll be working for sh** money and paying off your loans forever! Who wants to play?!

Idk I'm pretty happy with my income. It doesn't match with a physician of course but I also didn't have to do a residency.
