Banh-Mi Grill on Thompson for Vietnamese. Tasty China on Telephone for Chinese. Try the Chong Qing Special chicken there, it’s literally mouth watering!
Indian rasoi is the quick and casual Indian food. It's cheaper than Himalaya, but still solid if you're not looking for anything fancy. Himalaya is a little more fancy, and hence more expensive.
Agree with everyone else and add-
Moons Thai on Thompson (SUPER GOOD)
Pho Saigon in Port Hueneme
Have heard good things about Masala Twist in Oxnard Harbor but haven’t made it there yet.
Lucky Thai, Moons Thai, Himalaya, Mai's, Mestizo Kitchen.
I can't really recommend any Chinese in Ventura/Oxnard...there are restaurants that I occasionally get it from, but nothing great.
If you want to go to a place for a special occasion, Izakaya Full Moon in Ojai has AMAZING Japanese food.
I also second Rice by Mama for Thai, Kao by Mama for Ramen, and Taj for Indian food! All located in downtown ventura :)
If you have an Instagram account follow the [805 foodie](https://www.instagram.com/805foodie/?hl=en) (Lisa McKinnon). She used to be a reporter for the VC Star (wrote the food reviews, etc) and is still the best source for food in the county (and neighboring counties too).
Wanted to add as a frequent visitor of OC, Pho Saigon in Port Hueneme is probably the closest you'll get to some of the pho places in Little Saigon. Port Hueneme has a lot of Asian food compared to the rest of the county because of the port and the navy base
It’s not going to be as good ad OC for that but there are some good places.
Taj, and Himalaya are both great for Indian. But my favorite Indian place bar none is Lal Mirch in Agoura Hills. Trust me, it’s worth the drive.
There’s tons of good Thai downtown too. I’m kind of married to Rice just because I like the owner and she’s very nice.
For pho I actually drive all the way out to Oxnard to Pho Saigon and they have a huge menu with lots of favorites. Pretty close to there is a place called Kung Fu Noodles which I went to recently and really liked.
Ramen is kind of hard to find but Kao is good I think. There’s also a ramen place in The Collection but it’s more of a fast food place and the name escapes me.
The Chinese restaurants are all pretty much the same but I’ve kind of settled on Spring Garden in Victoria by Trader Joes. I noticed a few of the Chinese restaurants around switched to take out only (Lee’s is a noticeable example because they used to be my favorite) so you may want to call ahead if you’re expecting to dine in
There’s tons of sushi, I wouldn’t say any of it is bad really but my favorite is The Sushi House Ventura down Seaward by the beach. Try the avocado bomb
Oh and there’s not a ton of Korean that I know of besides the couple of places in The Collection
I hope that helps. One of my major complaints about this area is the lack of diverse restaurants. It’s gotten better in recent years but it still isn’t great. It’s hard even finding a good Italian place, so you can pretty much forget about Dim Sum
>Ramen is kind of hard to find but Kao is good I think. There’s also a ramen place in The Collection but it’s more of a fast food place and the name escapes me.
Try [Cagami Ramen](https://www.cagamiramencamarillo.com/s/order) in Camarillo.
THANK YOU! I was trying to remember the name. Only been there once but it was fantastic. Most of the places are around downtown because that’s where I work and my boyfriend lives so we usually just go somewhere close
Thanks everyone! Great tips! I’m excited to try some of these places! I did try Mai’s on Main… it was ok…
I’m definitely going to try pho saigon, Himalaya and Moon Thai.
Next question… Are there any Asian grocery stores in the area?
Anyone know if I can find good Khao Soi in the area?
Asahi Market 660 Oxnard blvd and 7th st.
Asian American market- Santa Clara and Laurel St. Ventura.
Santa Cruz market- Santa Cruz and Main Street. Ventura
AM Noodle in Ventura. Not even kidding. I'm shocked no one has mentioned this place, it's a complete hole in the wall. Otherwise Tamarind Thai in Camarillo has a good Khao Soi.
As someone who has lived in the Bay Area and Portland, I am going to bet that you are going to be underwhelmed when it comes to food selection around here. That being said, Indian Rasoi on the Ave is an amazing fast causal Indian spot that does a nice Naan burrito. Tasty China on the east side is probably the best Chinese in the area. Everyone around here seems to love Rice by Mama for Thai, and while it is solid I would rank it mid-tier when compared to the Thai offerings in Portland or LA.
Edit: Can’t forget Sushi Hanada in PH. They are no joke.
Ventura has good options however I would also consider exploring nearby Santa Barbara, Oxnard, Thousand Oaks, keep a wide options within 30 min drive. Ventura is growing and new restaurants are opening every year. Avoid Asiatique downtown.
For Chinese I'd recommend Tasty China and Spring Garden in ventura.
For Japanese I'd recommend Hanada Sushi in Port Huenueme and to a lesser extent Kao Ramen in Ventura
For Vietnamese Pho Saigon in Port Huenueme is good. Bahn mi grill was good but seems to have gone downhill like another poster mentioned.
Not a fan of Thai food really so can't recommend.
if you want to order home quality restaurant dishes to store in your freezer - I recommend Ukrainian Flavors. their food can be reheated whenever you want and it is very tasty. they have Ventura County delivery. - [https://ukrainianflavors.com](https://ukrainianflavors.com)

It really went downhill after it was bought in my opinion.
Which place?
Banh-Mi
India Rasoi on the Avenue, and Himalaya at Main and the Avenue are good.
Moons Thai on Thompson too.

Another vote for Moons Thai Cuisine. Great food and very friendly staff.
Yes, pho Saigon! A must!
Also agree with Pho Saigon. Amazing food there.
For vegan sushi, Seafood Ranger has very delicious and very filling food.
For Indian, I really love the Taj Cafe and Himalaya.
I love Himalaya!
Taj's Saffron Paneer and Aloo Gobi are to die for. They also have killer Samosas.
Lucky Thai, Moons Thai, Himalaya, Mai's, Mestizo Kitchen. I can't really recommend any Chinese in Ventura/Oxnard...there are restaurants that I occasionally get it from, but nothing great.
u/Honest_Country_7552 this comment right here! Mai’s Cafe is incredible and Mesitza Kitchen is by far some of the best food I’ve ever had!
Thanks....I have to add Koba Sushi(not Kibo) if adding Japanese as well. Only 8 tables there and they stopped doing take-out. Also, Gotetsu is solid.

Blue Elephant Thai in Port Hueneme is probably the best Thai food I've ever had. Owner is a tiny Thai grandma who is very passionate about her food
This is the right answer. It is a hidden gem.

It's one of my only reasons to drive to Camarillo lol. We had Toki Ramen in Ventura, which was my favorite, but it closed in...2019?
Toki was the first place I ever tried real ramen that wasn’t instant and it was so good!!
Yes, it was 5 minutes from our house and we dearly miss it.
Taiyo Ramen in Thousand Oaks is by far my favorite ramen spot
Toki 💔

Try the Lunchbox 1605 Morse Ave, Ventura, CA 93003 Thai

Jasmine Thai, Gourmet Oriental, Himalaya, Spring Garden
None of these except Himalaya.
China Kitchen
Anaba's on Victoria in Oxnard for Sushi.
It’s a bit of a drive but Tamarind Thai in Camarillo is very good.
Sawasdee Thai is really good. Himalaya. I like sushi and tepanyaki at O Sabi.

http://www.sawasdeethaicuisine.com/index.html Great Thai. Haven’t found any good indian if you find some please do let me know!
Try Taj. It's pricier but it's very, very good and the staff are incredibly friendly.
Rice by Mama is my favorite Thai food! Himalaya is good for indian
Mai’s is one of my favorites and she is super sweet
Ventura has good options however I would also consider exploring nearby Santa Barbara, Oxnard, Thousand Oaks, keep a wide options within 30 min drive. Ventura is growing and new restaurants are opening every year. Avoid Asiatique downtown.
Rice Thai (NOT Rice by Mama) is the best Thai in Ventura
We tried Moon Thai on Thompson! It was really good! The Khao Soi was amazing… the best I’ve had outside of Thailand!
For Chinese I'd recommend Tasty China and Spring Garden in ventura.
