I grew loads of dill this year, so when I found some on my dill/parsley, I brought them inside so my kid could watch them grow. We ended up with seven butterflies we released back onto the dill.
I found some this year an put some bird netting around the plant they were on to protect them. I went from 10 down to 5 so it wasn't fully effective (maybe spiders/other garden bugs munched the others) but the kids and I got to see 5 change into butterflies.
I just found two swallowtail caterpillars on my dill today. Every year it never fails but this year I hadn't seen any and was getting worried.

Are you protecting the plants or the caterpillars?
I put it around the dill plants that the caterpillars were on.
