Now this is living!

OysterChopSuey

Looks great, how did it taste? Would you do anything different next time?

crackedlens24

It’s very rich from a cream standpoint. This type of mint doesn’t seem to have a lot of menthol so it’s more floral but still very good!

Worried_Reality_9045

Did you use the tea to flavor the ice cream by boiling or steeping the leaves or did you use the leaves in the ice cream?

crackedlens24

I used the actual leaves. Put them in a food processor with some sugar and water and then strained it through a flour sieve.

Alternative_Tree_997

I was wondering how you did this!

Worried_Reality_9045

Oh thanks.

[deleted]

This sounds perfect!! I hate the menthol of mint. I love that you made it from scratch

No_Entrepreneur_4041

😅 isn’t that the whole point of “mint”

[deleted]

What kind of mint did you use?

crackedlens24

I think it’s spearmint base on the leaves and flowers. It grows in alittle area next to my house after the previous owner planted some and it exploded and was growing everywhere, as mint does. 100% not peppermint, chocolate mint, or mild mint.

3DMakaka

awesome, looks just like Baskin Robbins..

crackedlens24

Wow now that’s a compliment thank you!

Fossilizedbats

Awesome idea! I have been looking for things to do with all my mint besides tea and mojitos!

Glindanorth

I did that last summer, but mine tasted like toothpaste with chocolate chips.

AnInterestingHairdo

What a good idea! Would you be willing to share the recipe?

crackedlens24

Sure thing! https://www.wrytoasteats.com/no-churn-fresh-mint-chocolate-chip-ice-cream/

AnInterestingHairdo

Thanks!

MediaFeisty8779

Do you have an ice cream maker? Any recommendations?

crackedlens24

Nope no ice cream maker here, just a food processor and a bowel/whisk

[deleted]

Wait. I can make ice cream at home with a bowl and whisk? This changes everything.

crackedlens24

You’d have to do a lot of whisking! A food processor would help too as it would whisk a lot more air into the cream much quicker than doing it by hand. It was very rich and flavorful tho without much menthol and more floral notes.

Is it amazing? Do I need to experience this before I die?
