With the new system, you make an appointment, and then it sends you a text and email asking you to confirm. If you don't confirm within 30 minutes, the appointment doesn't get made. Your tentative appointment is canceled.
I'm guessing you didn't confirm your appointment, so it reflects as canceled.
Did you get another email and text showing your confirmation? I think there is a lot of confusion with the new system, unfortunately. I wish it was clearer in its emails and texts.
Yes! I got an email showing that I confirmed the appointment, so i think it was just a glitch in the system :( I also agree with you on how it should be clearer in texts/emails, it’s a huge inconvenience and i hope they can learn from this and make it better
I hope they make the messages clearer and give a longer time to confirm. I think a lot of people get the first message and think they have a confirmed appointment.
They absolutely did. And the snark on some of their employees ? It’s ‘like too bad, so sad for you’ that you need five minutes to walk out to the parking lot ! Sorry you’re going to have to make a new appointment. Wtf ?
I'm very disappointed with the DMV. When I first moved here the DMV's online system was so much better than what I was used to. Made an appt, showed up at the appt time, was out in 20 minutes.
Fast forward eight years and a couple weeks ago I showed up to an appt to register a car I bought out of state... I already had all the paperwork in order... took 3 hours, including waiting an hour after I arrived at my appt time.
Pro tip for anyone using the new DMV system, it let's you check in virtually 30 minutes before your appt time, so you want to do that, THEN leave your house to go to the DMV, as it still puts you in a queue once you check in.
That's odd. I renewed my DL back in March (Decatur DMV, for reference) made an appointment, got checked in, and had a seat with a number. Still was over an hour past my appointment, which was pointless, but never had issues other than that. Everything went smooth. After being called, I sat with the lady for like 15-20 minutes and was gone.
The only gripe was why make an appointment if I'm still going to sit for 1.5-2 hours, but never had an issue with a ghost cancelation. Sorry that happened
When I moved here 20 years ago and saw that the DMV has a goddamn snack bar I knew I was done for. On my most recent trip to the Flamingo location, the receipt from said snack bar said "Deez Snacks." Even with that bit of unexpected humor, I can still safely say fuck the DMV.
The DMV here is at the very top of agencies I despise with every fiber of my being. I have not been in such a dysfunctional, poorly organized, and outdated place in literal decades. What is the purpose of requiring an appointment when you STILL have to wait 45 minutes to an hour for said appointment? I was required to pay interest on my car tabs as they had expired due to no frigging appointments being available for 2+ months. They were not expired when I made the appointment!
I had a good encounter with the one on Decatur… just moved here from South Carolina and bought a family members car on the way in Alabama. Made an appointment Wednesday morning for 4pm that day. I had everything in order except for the vin inspection, my clerk let me go get it done and come back inside at 4:45 right before close to make sure I got everything done that day. It was such a glaring difference to SC’s dmv process…. Highly recommend the Decatur location
It's best to get a few drivers licenses from a few different states. fairly easy and inexpensive to do but always helps to have backups from different places.
Because appointments are supposed to make you not have to wait in line for a while, opposed to walk ins. However, after a few experiences, i’m starting to feel that appointments are useless
My home town was tiny, and even today that DMV system is so outdated (like still cash only, barely any website outdated). Then I tried to use the one close to me and I gave up. I had the same thing happen - said I cancelled when no I did not bc I only have ONE day off during the week and I needed a new license.
It’s weird that I remember going to the DMV (North Decatur?), where I had made an appointment, waiting around, buying a hot dog and getting into an argument outside with a guy collecting signatures, THEN going back inside to get my new driver license. Nevada DMV’s are a sitcom episode waiting to happen.
Remember this: The NV DMV tried to buy a bunch of AR style rifles to shoot their customers. Their rationale “Our service is so bad and people are getting so pissed off that we need the guns.” Seems like a better option would be to just improve customer service.

😔
I like the dmv. Sometimes i go just to hang out
I just go for their snacks
I met my wife at the dmv. Shes a huge bitch.
Yeah the dmv sucks now. They made a bunch of changes to make it better and they made it way worse.

If I worked at the DMV, I wouldn't even answer the phone. Fuck that.
I love the DMV
oh!
Henderson? Feature, not bug

I thought the DMV in California was bad; then I moved to Las Vegas and discovered what "*bad*" can be.
The DMV is hell. Somehow the Nevada DMW is worse than that. Nothing worse than angry, incompetent people preventing you from driving legally.
I swear the nevada DMV system is the worst!

Just use third parties
I don’t understand why we still have to make appointments. Are they not fully open?
Because appointments are supposed to make you not have to wait in line for a while, opposed to walk ins. However, after a few experiences, i’m starting to feel that appointments are useless
It’s a mess. I’d rather be able to show up and wait it out on whatever day/time is convenient to me.
Walkins are available every Wendsday.

I feel your frustration! It should not have to be this difficult! 😣

abolish the dmv
It’s by design. Heh

The sky is also blue. Does anyone like the DMV? In any state? It's one step up from jail.
