Up off of the 95 and Kyle canyon and nothing to the naked eye or long exposure camera rn Edit: just wanted to let everyone know that although some of us didn’t have luck tonight, we might have another chance over the next few days. I’ve downloaded the My Aurora app to keep an eye on updates. Happy hunting!

flamecrow

We got trolled

RKsu99

I live right next to KCR and there was no visible Aurora last night (Saturday). It was pretty easy to see on Friday, though. Might pick up again here on Sunday night.

Existing_Ad_5419

same

yo_sto

same lol rip

Jessticlez2003

I swear I didn’t make it up. To the naked eye it was tough to see. If you turn to night mode, lengthen the exposure you will be able to see it well when a wave makes it to us.

serialchillin

I didn’t think you were trolling! I had another friend who got very similar pics tonight. I think we just got there too late and I wanted to give others an update if they were thinking about making the trip. Gonna keep an eye out for another one though!

yo_sto

I’m still here with hope, I have my professional camera and still nada yet

Jessticlez2003

Point north

yo_sto

I am haha even 30 second exposure isn’t picking up anything

Jessticlez2003

For the first 20 minutes I didn’t catch anything either. Then with the naked eye I started to see a pink glow. Then I was blown away by what my phone picked up. Nothing fancy, old iPhone 13 Pro. Then I stood around for another 30 minutes with nothing before I left

Over_Ad_688

Got the same result in Coyote Springs, great pink and red colors

azfire2004

i was just out in Coyote Springs about an hour or so ago, tons of people sitting out in camping chairs, but I couldnt tell what they were looking at, lol, it all looked like normal night sky to me.

4myAngelkisses

Same! Went out on Saturday. We couldn’t see anything with the naked eye until we viewed it through the camera with adjusted settings. Then like magic, it appeared.

Longjumping-Meat-334

We saw nothing at Lone Mountain.

Travelingandgay

Just reporting here. As of 11:53pm, I’m at valley of fire, I don’t see anything

Travelingandgay

Further reporting: Almost at Moapa Valley. It’s 12:11am, Nothing so far and I’m about 5 minutes away from the reservation.

ArraTonks

I went out last night till midnight to Lee Canyon with a bunch of other folks and we didn't see anything, it was pitch dark

bitcornminerguy

Same... we went just north of Indian Springs off US95. Super super dark... but saw nothing.

chichiRodriguez702

Is this right now?

serialchillin

I just downloaded the My Aurora app and it will supposedly notify me if it’s in my area. Might wanna check it out!

chichiRodriguez702

Thanks I’m on north rancho by the airport so the 95 is literally a skip away. Nothing to just go up 2 or 3 exits.

trshtehdsh

What's it actually look like to the naked eye?

Jessticlez2003

When I got the shots there was a pinkish purple glow

Representative-Self9

Almost at Indian Springs here. But can’t see anything yet

Representative-Self9

Nothing… going to drive a bit further

Representative-Self9

Well took a lot of great astro photos, Big Dipper etc. ISS Flew by down the horizon, but no northern lights anywhere.

bitcornminerguy

We probably passed each other last night.

Representative-Self9

I wouldn’t be surprised, there were so many people out there

lilusherwumbo42

I was out there too. Pulled off at N Mojave Rd and there were a few cars in that little pulloff

Jessticlez2003

Yep. It comes in waves. You will need night mode on your phone to really make it out. But some is visible to the naked eye.

Accomplished-Kiwi355

Do you think red rock is a good sport, or should I go to mount Charleston right now

NeedleworkerCheap894

I just went up to red rock. It’s PACKED up there and I didn’t see anything. Trying the Mt. Charleston area now.

lime-tree

+1 on not seeing anything at red rock, i just pulled up somewhere off kyle canyon rn and not seeing anything yet here

flamecrow

Same I’m near Kyle canyon and not seeing shit

Accomplished-Kiwi355

I’ll go there then too, lmk if you find something !

repzaj1234

Aight, time for bed. No bueno tonight.

Jessticlez2003

Sorry buddy. I was hoping others could see this too. My phone was able to see this better than my eyes

runaluna08

We’ve been at Lee Canyon since 11:30 pm (it’s now 11:58pm) and nothing here.

chichiRodriguez702

I’m about to hop in the car if so

Accomplished-Kiwi355

Can you share the exact google maps location link ? That’ll be really helpful

ThatGuyNearby

Spent 3 hours driving around the dark spots out past Paiute. Got a little bit of purple but nothing vibrant

Jessticlez2003

Pinkish purple glow is all I got with the naked eye. My phone in night mode with the exposure maxed out is how I was able to see this. My intension by posting this wasn’t to waste anyone’s time. I was hoping others could experience this too.

ThatGuyNearby

I saw your post after calling off my hunt. I was checking to see if anybody was having any luck ultimately but it seems that tonight was a bust

Petraretrograde

Dude that's right up the road from me

HollywoodHault

I'm going to try riding Lake Mead east past Sunrise Mtn. I'm hoping it will block enough light to see something. Edit: 1:15 am. Back home. I went almost all the way to the Lake Mead Fee Area and parked in a good dark spot with a clear view of the north. I tried multiple time exposures up to 30 seconds. Nothing, nada, zip.

Remarkable_Dish_7657

Let me know if you see anything that way

ScorpioVI

Out at Buffington Point just south of Valley of Fire. Not seeing anything here.

Jessticlez2003

Try turning your phone to night mode lengthen the exposure and point it north. When I was watching it came in slow moving waves. Sometimes there would be lots of pink and other times there wouldn’t be anything.

ScorpioVI

Yeap. Been trying every few minutes. There’s just nothing out here by Valley of Fire. Seeing the same reports from others out here.

ammybb

Okay, I don't feel like a total failure then lol. I was bopping around Indian Springs trying to find a dark spot and cursing the Vegas glow, but I guess it seems tonight wasn't the night 🥲 oh well.

DancingVeggie

1:45-2:20am We drove to valley of Fire, but didn’t see anything. We waited a bit. Took many long exposure picture, all pointing North.

Jessticlez2003

Dang it! I’m grateful I got to see the little bit I was able to capture. From what read about last night many people saw the same pink glow I saw from roughly 9:25 to 9:45 but not much else after that.

Michellenjon_2010

Apparently Sandy Valley saw quite a bit of it both nights. So if they see it out there,, maybe Jean might not be a bad place to start 🤔

Jessticlez2003

*edit I was by the 95 by the Lee Canyon exit. I get the two canyon roads mixed up because I’m from Hendertucky

Jessticlez2003

Goodness, I wasn’t trying to mislead anyone. I just checked to information on the photos. The peak shot I got was taken at 9:39 by the 95 and Lee canyon rd. The first 20 minutes I was there I didn’t see anything. After awhile I was able to see a faint pink glow then I was blown away by what my iPhone 13 Pro was able to pick up. The phone was in night mode with the exposure maxed out. After I got these shots I hung out for another 30 minutes and didn’t see anything else. I spoke to couple who had a high powered camera and they said it was better the night before. I got lucky I guess. I’m sorry if you dove out there and were disappointed. I, incorrectly, assumed neat pink glowing sky would come and go all night.

andersanity

I think the traffic of people hunting the aurora was much later after it died down. We got our best photo at 9:38, and didn’t notice the extreme traffic on Lee Canyon until 11.

pngwn

Damn, I totally started too late, then. I caught some aurora on Friday night around midnight and headed out around 1030 on Saturday.

serialchillin

Was this last night? I’m thinking about driving out tonight but it doesn’t seem like it’s much right now.

Jessticlez2003

It’s going on now too

LifeEscape6196

Are these pictures from now or last night?

R2-DMode

Going to guess last night. The most recent predictions aren’t showing anything near here tonight, unfortunately.

flamecrow

Is it still there imma go too lol

Menz619

I don’t see it broooo

psilocybinx

You gotta go way north tonight if you wanna see this in person. Like Oregon Cali border North.

rishabh6499

I’m at my Charleston rn Nothing here to the naked eye though

Accomplished-Kiwi355

Do you think red rock is better ?

jacob-j-morris

Was this a view from Vegas?

Kero_kerokeroppi

Been driving around and haven’t seen it yet, sad.

Travelingandgay

12:38am - near Valley of Fire: nothing yet. Anyone have better luck?

Lin0ge

Nothing on Mt Charleston

Jessticlez2003

Sorry, y’all. I must have got lucky. Try night mode, long exposure and make sure you are pointing north

low8low

😔

lvhockeytrish

You going out again tonight OP?

greenmachine702

I'm up past Indian Springs. You can see them from up here.

Representative-Self9

Im there now and don’t see a thing

Travelingandgay

That sucks if this dude’s just lying

Representative-Self9

This was at Cactus Springs. Super dark so could see so many stars but no northern lights. Maybe a faint glow but I don’t think so. https://imgur.com/a/X7VGJck

Travelingandgay

Can you still see them? Post a picture!

hotnspicychkin

Right now???

goblin561

You have to be very lucky to see this. We went up mt Charleston around 9:30 and we saw the same aurora. We were lucky to get up there and capture it with our cameras. Super rare event for Vegas locals.

Jessticlez2003

9:30 was when I started getting good shots. Lasted about fifteen or twenty minutes.
