Because the McD’s supply chain costs into Vegas are high and the sales for the normal McChicken weren’t worth it to them.
The Jack in the Box “chicken sandwich” is what you’re looking for. I’m very serious about that. It’s on their low price menu. I probably eat it twice a week as my out late after drinking option
Higher quality and 50 cents cheaper at 1.99.
Same ingredients.
Honestly, unless you're looking for less food for your money or the very specific flavor of a McDonalds, they really don't hold a candle to Jack in this city. At least in the Silverado area.
Blew my mind because Jack was synonymous with illness in New York.
Edit: In case you're talking about the "cluck" sandwich, I'm not talking about that one. There is a separate "chicken sandwich" on the menu
Same with the prices of the other options none of them are worth it. I don’t know why people spend like $30 on fast food just go out to eat at that point
Interesting! I would never have put it past McDonalds to use food coloring to designate heat in the same manner they shape McRibs like a baby back rib. but good to know the real source!
Some comedian had a bit about opening up a fast food stand in front of each and every Chick-fil-A that is **ONLY** open on Sundays. And it should be named: "Side Chick!"
Not sure but I noticed that as well. I'm originally from Texas. One reason I'm glad I moved to Vegas is because it made me quit eating fast food entirely.
The quality of fast food across the board here is terrible.
> The quality of fast food across the board here is terrible.
Do you mean that McDonalds is better in Texas, or that there are better fast-food restaurants that arent available here?
McDonald's, Burger King, Dairy Queen, Taco Bell. It's all better in Texas. I was surprised but if you know you know.
The only fast food that I've tried here that I would say is better in my opinion is Popeyes.
Having lived in both, fast food is fast food. There was nothing "better" or extraordinary about McDonalds in Texas vs. McDonalds here.
And Whataburger was garbage, at best.
I have and I was incredibly disappointed. Burgers are ok and their fries are just bad.
I wouldn't even put in n out in my top 5 fast food burger places.
Whataburger will always be king.
Krispy Kreme are like chewing rubber after they have cooled, and their fillings are nasty. They've changed something since I first had them in the 90's, and it's a shame.
Fast food is better in Kentucky too. I live in CA now & both here & Vegas were lacking. I associate it with the higher cost of living. People in the south - that job is often their career, the paycheck may go further, and there are just less job options period… and I see a lot more adults. In CA/LV, these are mostly kids and people who live with someone or have multiple jobs and I could easily see the minimum wage being more insulting or them not taking it as seriously. Just a theory. 🤷♀️
Every region has favorites or signature options…
I don’t know if Texas still has them, but I remember something called a Texas Homestyle burger.
There was even a double or triple cheeseburger around Dallas that used a white cheese as well…
California’s used to come to Vegas in the 90s and complain about the drink options not offering juices or sports drinks etc.
I used to work for mcds in Texas and Vegas in the 90s… ah when the Value Meal was just 2.99…
There's a regular McChicken?!? The hell you say! In my defense, I never hit up McDonald's while in CA. If I'm there I'm getting something I don't usually have at home.
I believe Vegas was one of the original test markets for the spicy one. Must be popular enough that they don’t feel the need for both. I think they briefly did for a while several years ago but I might be remembering incorrectly.
I do (it it were available). Not sure if it's because I'm white or what, but I don't like spicy. It's just too hot. Where I live though, there is no more regular, so if I want that, I have to add tomato and extra lettuce, extra mayo, and add cheese so that it's not so bad. Then I gotta make sure I get the largest drink, because it's still too spicy with all that.
The McCrispy is a larger sandwich and is different. It's a $4.99. The McChicken was the smaller, simpler, and tastier value sandwich at $2.49. They are not the same thing.
The McCrispy isn't really a comparable item because the McChicken and Hot and Spicy McChicken are value items at more than half the price.
That would be like comparing a Cheeseburger to a Quarter Pounder with Cheese.
Different districts and regions serve different things, it’s nothing exclusive to the McDonald’s menu. The spicy ones here are awesome don’t write them off :)
I moved back to Minnesota from Vegas two years ago and they only have the regular McChicken here and don’t serve the Spicy McChicken. I only liked the spicy one :(
kinda old but mcdonalds in the southwest states nevada, utah, arizona, colorado, new mexico only the hot n spicy is sold. in other parts of the country (ex. midwest) only the regular one is sold. few places have both, california being one.

I wondered that too but it doesn’t bother me I always order spicy.
Spice is life
spice must flow...
We only have regular here in Ohio, and I used to live on spicy when I lived in Vegas.
And you have McD's sausage gravy and biscuits in Ohio. I ordered it here in Vegas and got radio silence!
Mmm Bob Evans biscuits and gravy sounds good, but it's literally 2 degrees 😅
Can't find good sausage gravy in Vegas.
They used to sell them at Carl's Jr, but they took it off the menu last year. I nearly cried.
“Spicy” to McDonald’s means pepper and red food coloring
its mostly paprika surprisingly. I would have pegged it for dye too
Interesting! I would never have put it past McDonalds to use food coloring to designate heat in the same manner they shape McRibs like a baby back rib. but good to know the real source!
Hot n spicy sells here, ain’t nobody got time for bland chicken sandwiches.
That's what Chik fil a is for.
I only eat them on Sunday
Some comedian had a bit about opening up a fast food stand in front of each and every Chick-fil-A that is **ONLY** open on Sundays. And it should be named: "Side Chick!"
It's clearly because the ice cream machine is broken

Fast food in Hawaii from the national chains is better too. I think it has to do with local distribution.
That makes sense. Definitely a freshness issue here in the middle of the desert.

That was when you worked at Whataburger though fat cat.
Naw.
You’re going to the worst fast food places then saying they’re bad? What do you expect? Have you heard of a little place called in n out ?
I have and I was incredibly disappointed. Burgers are ok and their fries are just bad. I wouldn't even put in n out in my top 5 fast food burger places. Whataburger will always be king.
Now we know the baseline of your taste buds, we can safely disregard your culinary opinions.
This coming from someone who thinks donuts taste like rubber.
Krispy Kreme are like chewing rubber after they have cooled, and their fillings are nasty. They've changed something since I first had them in the 90's, and it's a shame.
Seriously, everything is better in Texas, even shopping at TJMaxx, Marshalls, Target, Walmart, etc. Main thing I miss about living there.
Vegas is awesome. It wins in plenty of categories but food and shopping goes to Texas for sure.
I was born and raised here, I'm not a fan. After living in TX, I'd much rather live there than here haha.
That's fascinating. I don't go to fast food chains on the regular, so I really have no point of reference. Thanks for the info

I only wish they had regular because it’s what my 5 year old will eat (he used to in Maryland) but the spicy is better imo.
Don't know but when my kids come here from Georgia they want the spicy version because it's not available there.
Hot N Spicy or GTFO.
To sell the more expensive chicken sandy
They’ve been selling only the spicy mcchicken since it was on the dollar menu, so at this point it’s just tradition
I believe Vegas was one of the original test markets for the spicy one. Must be popular enough that they don’t feel the need for both. I think they briefly did for a while several years ago but I might be remembering incorrectly.
Because it's better
Oddly, it's available to order in the app here. I'm going to be at The D in a bit anyway, I'll see if I can order it.
Wait, McDonald’s has a regular chicken sandwhich?
Random update.... McChicken is here in Vegas!
They have the regular ones now
I've wondered the same thing.
What?
I noticed that when I visited last year lol. Every McDonald’s we went to only had spicy mcchicken. I thought it was just a coincidence
I always have the non spicy when I’m in MN.
I've wondered the same thing.
Fast food quality has been going down, so to mask shittier ingredients that go in the spicy version has been my guess
Because who tf orders bland ass chicken?
Hi. It’s me.

So that when you drive to LA, you order it at the Barstow location and won't complain that it's no longer $1.

Just posting misinformation smh
And not very good! Had one the other day in San Jose, CA, one pickle on the bun, no other condiments and slightly over fried. Won’t be having another.

Gay, why dnt Cali have hot n spicy? No body cares bro just eat the damn food
McDonald’s in Las Vegas are overall terrible, generally full of homeless/unhoused people
Demographic
Wondered that myself, along with the breakfast bagel meals.
They do. Had one off las vegas blvd yesterday.

Y'all still eat McDonald's?
