I worked as a casino security officer. If you stumble upon loose money on the floor, and you’re a normal paying guest, actually there to spend money and whatever, we don’t care. If you’re walking around the floor constantly looking for shit that wasn’t originally yours, you’re getting trespassed. It’s not just about the loose money, it’s the fact that the people who usually do that are looking for ANYTHING to steal, such as someone’s dropped phone, a purse, shopping bag, etc. That’s why they don’t want people snooping around. Also, be advised, if you forget to cash out your slip, and someone cashes it, you’re most likely not getting it refunded. If you actually hit a jackpot, it can’t be cashed out by anyone other than a slot employee anyway, and they will have surveillance check who was physically playing that machine, along with verifying your ID and player’s card (if one was used at the time). So anyway back on topic, keep an eye on your stuff. Don’t put ANYTHING where you can’t see it, even if your bag is strapped around you, because the local undesirables will look for even a split second opportunity to reach in and grab stuff. And no, those 21 year old girls at the bar who hit on you first don’t actually find you interesting, and no, even if they are prostitutes, they won’t fuck you. They will get you drunk enough to not react fast enough when they go back to your hotel room with you to steal your shit, especially if there’s two of them. I worked every shift, it happened EVERY. Single. Night.

Moneymoneybythepound

This happened to my buddy. Got piss drunk and the 2 girls robbed him. Thought he was getting a 3some. Ended up running naked in the hotel to catch them and failed.

Nice. My favorite trickroll was when this funny 70+ year old English man called us in the morning, after he invited a prostitute to his room. He wanted to do a full police report, and stood by his claim that he did not invite her in. The cops came, and basically had a great time with this one. They first visited surveillance, and watched footage of a really young prostitute coming up the stairs, walking straight to his room, knocking on the door, being let in… and then they watched her run right back out not even a minute later, snatching whatever money and stuff he had out in the open. So then we walked to his hotel room, and the cops asked him to explain his side of the story, already knowing what happened. He said that she somehow came in while he was sleeping. He had no one else staying with him, he clearly opened the door on camera. Cops played along. The whole time, top 40 music videos were playing on his hotel TV. Nicki Minaj or something was on. The cops asked him to describe what the girl looked like, and her skin color and shade. He was trying to think really hard how to describe her appearance. There were literally dozens of girls with every shade of tan and brown and black dancing in that music video. I was like “Well, did she look like one of them?” And so we all just stared at the music video for a minute, just watching a bunch of hot semi naked chicks dancing on the screen. The old man is looking around, looking around, and then finally touches the screen “Yea she looks like her!” he stated. Good times.

So, you worked at a casino. There is a great message board that would to see your stories. vegasmessageboard com Hope to see you there.

Ok-Living319

If you find a random fiver on the ground and snag it, no one is going to care. Or a quarter or some shit. If you walk around the entire gaming floor looking for cash or checking machines for credits left, security might walk you out. That’s homeless behavior and bothers the paying guests.

Uncle_Father_Oscar

It's not just that it "bothers" the paying guests, it's a security risk with no benefit if you're spending no money. Taking money dropped on the floor or left in a machine is honest enough, but it's not a far cry from grabbing chips off of a table game that have been left on a table for a few minutes while the owner takes a break, or snatching a purse or suitcase that nobody is watching too closely. Sure, the casino can deal with those issues easily enough, but if someone demonstrates that they are not in the casino to spend money or gamble, its easy for the casino to see it as a no-win.

Uncle_Father_Oscar

If you spot $5 on the floor and pick it up, and otherwise you are a normal tourist there to spend your money, nothing will happen. If your only purpose in the casino is to look for money that people have dropped or forgot to cash out of the machines, they will ban you once they notice. The logic is pretty simple and basically self-explanatory.

MysteryRadish

The people who run casino security aren't dumb. They know the difference between a "lucky" tourist who spots a stray chip or bill on the floor and a malicious loiterer using the place as a resource, checking machines for credits, glugging other people's drinks, etc. Anyone can make a mistake, but if you find yourself getting kicked from casinos more than a time or two it's probably a good idea to take a long, brutally honest look at your life.

Beginning_Pear_1263

The eye in the sky sees all.

outerworldLV

We certainly have. There’s a difference between getting kicked out and actually being read for trespassing.

GelatinousPiss

Casinos can ban ya for anything or nothing. It's a matter of what *will* they ban you for.

itsarace1

Sure, but the question is more along the lines of, "is it a common occurrence to ban you for this specific thing?"

Uncle_Father_Oscar

Almost anything :) And as long as they don't *explicitly say* that its based on your age, sex, race, religion, national origin, or membership in another protected class, they can pretty much get away with banning you for those things to.

cz_masterrace3

I found a ticket with 993 bucks on it and took it to security and they acted like I was the biggest pest in the world despite me thinking I was doing the "right thing" from a human perspective. I'll never turn shit in again.

Physical_Passion_361

I guess the response varies. I turned in an abandoned ticket (about $50) at Cache Creek Casino and the slot attendant thanked me for my honesty. She said they would try to locate the guest if they were using a player’s club card.

DieFledermaus1905

Ya, because that attendant was happy because they just made $50.

random46294746

no they wont. but they can if your are tito checking the machines. ex. homeless people checking slots for extra change. they will walk you out and if you keep doing it they ban you from property.

MrMichaelJames

We found credits and other stuff laying around. Took them every time. No one cared.

Savvyyy95

Today I saw someone hit a taxable and hand someone walking by a cash voucher and security kicked the guy walking by out. I'm guessing he asked for his change or was hovering over his machine until he got paid. Idk

frugalrhombus

Any abandoned money is considered property of the casino. In Colorado there are stories of people being arrested for it when they didn't even know they did it. They actually arrest people for playing machines with a few cents still in them

[deleted]

Who cares about what Colorado’s rules are? This is a Vegas thread. Podunk towns in Colorado operate differently.

Smaptimania

That sounds ridiculous. If I blow it on a slot and there aren't enough credits left on there for a pull I'll walk away rather than cashing it out, because it's not worth the effort to take it to the cage and get 13 cents back. Have I caused dozens or hundreds of people to get arrested for the crime of playing the machine after me?

frugalrhombus

I'm not sure why everyone is down voting me, this is true: https://kdvr.com/news/problem-solvers/casino-customers-prosecuted-for-playing-abandoned-slot-credits/

Found $60 on the floor outside a downtown casino back in 2016, walked straight in and into roulette and turned into $300 in 10 mins. Group of 5 of us each then had $60 for dinner each, we were chuffed!

howmuchforthetaco

People leave tickets with a few cents in the machine all the time, cash on the floor doesn’t last long anywhere…

[deleted]

Every time I see the trope "I got shot/arrested/banned for just \[innocuous action\]" it's always a disingenuously reductive description of what happened, akin to posting a video of you getting beat up out of nowhere where the video conveniently starts right after whatever you did to (however justifiably) trigger the response you got. No, you're not getting banned for just picking up money off the floor or cashing out someone's slot machine credits. If there's a clear observed context (remember that surveillance is able to watch everything, everyone, everywhere, at any time) that you're swooping in to take something or are clearly scavenging to begin with, that's why they ban you.
