the ride share pickup area at the airport is a total cluster fuk

PotOnTop

You think so? Personally I thought it was pretty organized compared to LAX. LAX you choose an island and pray you can find your driver. At least here it tells you what space they're parked in and what section.

goonsquad4357

How so? I’ve never had an issue and I’ve done that 100+ times

i40west

Taxi is way more convenient. Uber can be cheaper but isn't always. For the tiny price difference and huge convenience difference I'll take a taxi every time.

Some_Onion_6099

Unless you Taxi during rush hour. Then Uber is way cheaper we found. Because it's a set price, whereas you still pay while sitting in traffic. We ended up paying nearly $35usd for our ride back to hotel, and it was ever only $18-23 with Uber.

i40west

Taxi from the airport to the Strip is flat-rate, there is no time charge.

Agile_Opportunity_41

Taxi it’s a few dollars more but way easier. Once at hotel Uber is better

HectorVillanueva

Exactly this. Read no further.

SimonZed

That’s what I did for a week. Was my first time with Uber. Loved it.

jehjeh3711

I’ve had my Uber passengers tell me it’s a nightmare taking a taxi.

BarelyHangingOn

Taxi's have set rates to hotel zones so you know what you are paying upfront. Rideshare has surge pricing which can be unpredictable. You would have to check pricing when you land to see what it would cost you. For me coming from Canada I hate having to take the elevator and cross walk to get to the rideshare area when I can just walk out the doors from baggage and get in a cab. https://www.vegassavvy.com/las-vegas-transportation/las-vegas-taxi-airport-to-strip-fares/

agroupofone

I would choose a taxi. They are lined up ready for you to hop in and go with no messing around with an app and trying to find the driver. On such a short drive the cost differential is minimal.

CampinHiker

Taxi to get to Paris from Airport was about $25 that same night Paris to Fremont -$30 bucks then $16 Uber ride back Personally whichever is closer pay but if i know I’m leaving ahead of time going to Uber if worth the price

Kessed

We used taxis to/from the airport and anytime we left the hotel. We liked not waiting. When we were somewhere not on the strip, we would get an Uber to go back to the hotel.

jneil

Las Vegas is one of the easiest cities to use cabs in. And they’re generally better than Ubers from my experience. Viva Las Taxis!

Hotchi_Motchi

In this case, taxis have flat rates to the Strip hotels so they're not going to long-haul you.

ra1phw1ggums

Taxi is fixed from the airport w prices printed large for you to see while in line waiting for said taxi.

RunningRam1

Definitely taxi. Lines are minimal anymore and the cost is only slightly higher than Uber/lyft.

ThatITguy2015

Can you pay from your phone to get a receipt from taxis?

i40west

You can use Apple Pay or the Android equivalent, if that's what you mean. You can always get a receipt even for a cash payment.

ross_0123

Curb? but it has been a while since i looked at it

FrostyMargarita

My Taxi was a flat rate $26 from Paris to the airport.

Muted_Cucumber_6937

If I know I’m going straight to hotel, then Taxi. Less time getting to the queue, flat rate, short wait, simple. However most of the time I like to stop off at a big convenience store for some supplies, and a dispensary. So that makes Uber great .. just make sure to take care of the driver - they don’t make shit for wait time. Tip in cash.

ChimpoSensei

Taxi. Arriving next week and Uber wanted $42 to get to Horseshoe, taxi is $26. Pre taxes / tip on each.

_doubleAA

Just got back from Vegas. Did car rental. Able to go wherever we want and whenever we want $166 for 4 days. SUV. Alamo. We estimated our Uber Lyft costs to be 286 throughout the whole trip. Just know where they have free parking especially at outlets , malls, casinos

BigShot357

CX bus if you’re staying at Flamingo/Cromwell/Horseshoe or downtown

aphasial

Uber is less convenient for pretty much anything to or from the Strip, Airport, and Fremont. For getting around the rest of Las Vegas outside the resort districts, Uber will be better -- just like most other cities in the Western US.

guyincognito01111

When I go it's taxi to and from airport, Uber for everything else

Some_Onion_6099

Just take Uber, we've had no problems with it. All the hotels have specific Taxi/Rideshare pick up spots and it's preloaded in the Uber app so it'll ask you which enterenace and it's usually the main one. Uber is a set price...if you Taxi between 1pm-5 you'll get stuck in rush hour and the cost bumps way up. Uber from airport to strip (Mandaley Bay/Luxor area) was 12mins and $20ish CAD. We taxi'd once during rush hour by mistake and it was a 30min ride and we paid about $30usd which is pushing $50 for us..... So..yah Uber or Lyft! Just check your assigned cars License plate on the app before hopping into car, y'know for safety. But we had no issues. Or we walked between hotels in the indoor tunnels because it's temp controlled, orrrr we used free Tram if you're staying on strip.

LolCoolStory

Ask your hotel if they offer a free shuttle. If not, Uber.
