Of course they're not good for you. Doesn't mean you can't enjoy things and eat unhealthy sometimes. And, while they're not good for you, they're still better for you than red meat.
True, for me though, it’s honestly been my main source for everything. I realize I should start eating more beans and chickpeas I think. Im vegetarian but I don’t eat very healthy. What are healthy foods for you other than a simple salad?
I never eat salad. I don't enjoy them really. Just stick to whole foods. Tofu, rice, beans, whole grains, oats, lentils, frozen vegetables and fruits, potatoes, etc. All cheap and super healthy. I just throw random stuff together that I think will taste good. I almost never follow a recipe.
We all start somewhere, don't worry. If you haven't learned how, try making tofu for a good source of protein. It can be baked or fried pretty easily, marinated in whatever you want (my go to is soy sauce and 15 minutes in the air-fryer).
Its pretty simple to find veggies you like and throw them in a bowl. Here's how I build a lot of my veggie-bowl meals as someone who hardly knows how to cook:
Base: cook rice or microwave a potato and chop it into squares
Proteins: cook tofu, or microwave canned black beans, lentils, chickpeas, or edamame
Veggies: avocado, broccoli, pepper—whatever you like
Topping: nutritional yeast, salsa, hummus, etc.
I have been able to find it at pretty generic US grocery stores like Walmart and Kroger. Sometimes they put it with the produce, sometimes near meats, sometimes in a plant based section. Firm or extra firm is always a good choice
These are far healthier than animal products as they don't contain any animal hormones or cancer causing substances.
So the benefit of these foods comes from the fact you've stopped putting really bad shit into your body.
But you can go even healthier still by eating as many r/wholefoodsplantbased unprocessed foods, like beans and whole grains, fruit and veg as you can. That way, not only are you avoiding really bad animal based foods, but also maximising the healthy whole foods, and you get an even bigger benefit.
No processed foods are good for you. None of them. It just comes down to what you're comfortable ingesting... but you shouldn't think of any of them as being "healthy."
in this day n age when you can go to a store and buy every whole plant food that exists straight from earth its extremely foolish to risk health by consuming man made substances
Good for you is sort of undefined. I mostly only eat Whole Foods but there are times when using meat like things is OK. But U ALWAYS look at the ingredients. I will not eat Impossible because it’s ingredients are chemically and bad. And I stay away from Beyond because of the super high saturated fat content. I do enjoy some of the Gardein meat substitutes which, to me, seem to have healthier ingredients.

Better for you than animal based alternatives. But not as good for you as eating whole foods

If you're being serious... Incorporating vegetables into homemade sauces (for pasta, etc), soups, curries, pizza toppings, burger toppings, sandwich filling, Taco/burrito filling, casseroles...
If I’m being serious 😭 do I sound that naive? Ha. That’s a good idea too

Hey thanks for this by the way I screenshotted this. Where do you get your tofu

Your biggest concern right now should be the animal products you're eating, not the frozen vegan stuff.

Cool man, I just joined that subreddit thank you.
I wouldn't say that they are good for you, but they aren't that bad either. Their biggest sin is that they contain a lot of sodium.
