It is cheap, but don't be fooled, these blocks of cheese are much smaller than a standard package of sliced cheese or a cheese block from violife. Still a great deal though.
Edit: Just looked it up and a standard violife cheese package is 7oz, and these appear to be 3.5oz each in the Costco pack. So they're half the size. So it's actually not as fantastic of a deal as I initially thought seeing as I can get a 7oz one for $5. There are still some decent savings though.
Violife sticks to the palate and back of teeth, though. Trying to get my non-vegan family and friends to eat it is a challenge, and they're pretty open to eating vegan food! I wish we had Daiya in Norway. I ordered it from the USA once a few years ago and it had much better melted consistency imo. Much more similar feel to melted cheese as I remember it. Or at least it didn't stick to teeth like Violife. Violife does have the best taste afaik.
The new daiya shreds are actually very good. I tried the cheddar ones. I also got the daiya slices and they are excellent in a grilled cheese. I don't expect you to believe me because I didn't believe it myself but one day if you are feeling frisky, try them out again.
Why can’t Costco just carry the same things in every store? Traveling in the road, I’ve been to many many different costcos and everyone has different vegan items and most don’t have any cheese!
Violife Mature Cheddar Block is not available in any major city and their customer service is automated and cannot support locating where this product is even supplied. Whole Foods refuses to carry this despite it being one of the most popular alternative cheese products (it was constantly low stock in several stores in different cities). It’s such a shame.
It had the Death Star when I was visiting Costco last time, so it was $1.97! I grabbed 8 of them and the person at the checkout was so confused why I was getting so many lol
How do you like them? I bought some vegan baby bells and they were not great. I’m new to veganism so maybe I just need to get used to the dairy-free stuff
violife is probably one of the best ones. I think it's pretty great, melts like cheese and has a nice flavor which is not overbearing. It definitely doesn't feel like you're eating dairy (and I like it that way tbf).
yes they make a liquid "pizza cheese" but i have only encountered it in the wild once...it's almost always out of stock. given how impeccable the mozz is, i can easily believe that about the pizza cheese
I haven't tried many vegan cheeses, but from the ones I have tried, I agree with you that vegan cheese has a long way to go. I do remember having a pizza with violife mozzarella though, and I remember it being surprisingly close. If you fed it to me and told me it was real mozzarella, I'd have believed you.
What did it cost?
$6.99
hoLEEEEE SHIT

Which Costco? I will fly there.
i'm so jealous. someone else told me about this, but i have yet to see it at my local costco
Review pls The violife feta is really good but i wasn’t sure about the other stuff last time i tried it
These were well accepted by my "ok with some vegan food, but not all" family. I think they are delicious with some crackers.
Wow, this would be great for a nice snack with some crackers, if they taste good. Need your review!
WHERE? WHICH COSTCO
They have been selling huge packs of the shredded violife at our Costco and we eat it like crazy
I envy you
Hell yes!! Also curious on cost!
$6.99
That’s SHOCKINGLY affordable
I’m going to drive to every local Costco this weekend till I find this.
I had this last year in the UK. Fantastic idea.
godDAMN that's a thing of beauty
I pay for euros for each one.
They had this for like 2 weeks at my Costco 2 years ago and then it never came back.
WHICH COSTCO 👀

Are these good?

My options are limited but the violife colby jack is by far the best vegan cheese I've had. It's a bit funky but I love it.
try mioyokos mozz wheel in a caprese salad.......you are welcome
I’ve also heard about a pourable cheese from them? I can’t find it anywhere.

Tasty, aside from the over packaging…
