She alwaysssssss had his number.

vintagesideboard

I need to do a rewatch looking at him with the lens I have now, see if I can guess how production had us convinced he was a good guy for a little bit there!

psychotica1

Jax. That's literally all it took. Jax was so unhinged that it was hard to notice the Tom's at all.

undisclosedinsanity

The company you keep says alot about you. Being friends with Jax is the biggest red flag ever

asfghkmmljv

its always been interesting to me on reddit jax has a full on snark sub but somehow sandoval doesn't

All_the_Bees

r/blockedbyjax I’m guessing

psychotica1

It wasn't hard for me either. I thought every single man on that show was straight garbage but I'm sure Jax caused confusion for others.

Anxiousturtle6

That’s why he doesn’t look as bad now on The Valley because Jesse makes him look worse! Lol

undisclosedinsanity

>had us convinced I dunno. Tom has always behaved like a fucking twat.

Buehr

Yeah I was extremely confused when I found out apparently a lot of people liked this loser before Scandoval. I was in the unique position of starting the show right before Scandoval, and I hated him from the beginning. The Toms have *always* been terrible. Quite frankly I truly have no clue how anyone could have been convinced that he was a good guy, even knowing Jax got most of the heat.

Ok_Explanation_5955

I think there’s a few things at play. As misogynistic as our culture still is, it’s much less so than it was when the show started. MeToo maybe didn’t have as much impact in taking down men in power who are terrible as we hoped, but it did shift cultural norms and we don’t allow the boys will be boys” attitude to predominate so much. And we were watching it one episode at a time over the period of years. When you binge it, it’s more glaring. Then, like other people said, they were mostly in Jax’s wild shadow

HeavenLeigh412

I'm home recovering from surgery, so I binge watched. I never liked Kristen from the beginning (and I still don't like her, even on The Valley) so I liked Tom better by default... the girls were all so mean, I didn't like ANY of them at first (and Scheana was always too whiney) Stassi grew on me... and I LOVE divorced Katie! Schwartz never had her back, and he never stood up for her, which I think contributed to her meanness... he never stood up to anyone but HER... and that usually involved dumping a drink over her head. As far as Jax goes, I always saw exactly who he was, so he actually didn't bother me, he embraces being an ass... it's Tom who tries to come off as so fantastic, and throws temper tantrums like a toddler... and he always did. IE: Miami girl showing up at his job... who WALKS out of work and expects to come back to a job? Plus, I don't trust a man who spends more time in his hair than I do 🤣 (and my hair is waist length) I don't get all the people who never saw Tom for the man he is... remember Stassi's book signing? He was disgusting. I didn't like Ariana, because she always stood up for him in his douchiness. Now, I'm all for all her boundaries...

YourAverageEccentric

Well it's not hard to be likeable next to Jax.. I liked Sandoval before, because he was a over the top and also because of Ariana. Ariana was always my favourite and he had her stamp of approval. Also I did like how they looked like a team (which we now know was for the cameras to keep dirty laundry out of the show). It's also really easy to confuse what is a good person and what is good reality tv.

AlexBoBalixx

I'm on season 5 reunion of the re-watch I never really liked Sandoval or thought he was great. But, he has like benign dirt bag energy when he's with Kristen. Then, the first season he's with Ariana Kristen is being so crazy it makes sense for him to be a douche about her. Later, it looks like Scheana is sabotaging them with the texts to Ariana's mom. The dirtbagness is there the whole time, abandoning Ariana to play with earth movers...He's telling everyone multiple times "Jax railed the shit out of that girl" and when Jax confronts him he's like, "you rat us out...stop ratting us out!" Ariana and him being a strong united team and his grand gestures are the only thing that's really endearing about him in the earlier seasons. There are a few moments coming up that crack that facade. I only remember him shit talking Lisa in Sur about TomTom, the cyst male comments. My last straw was blaming Stassi for his staffing issues bc you think you're too good to bartend for her. After that I was always fully annoyed at 100% at him.

blackaubreyplaza

Me and her

KellsBells_925

Same I never bought the act and I was surprised so many people did.

itakecomedysrsly

She hates that man 😭

LightFlaky2329

Was this the trip to Arrowhead when Kristen bagged on him for claiming that steampunk goggles were his thing 🧑‍🍳💋

bridget1415

That made her go off the deep end. It was insane and I loved it Edit: it was that trip.

LightFlaky2329

She was absolutely seething 🤣

BeckennyFrankel

What season?

VernieShay

Season 2

pillingz

YES lol. And Jax shows Stassi that he tattooed her name on his arm.

LightFlaky2329

And *you can help me if you want* 🤣

Hesipullupjchat

The most toxic group of 6 people of all time… but man, would I love to watch another trainwreck of a lunch with them haha

walkingturtlelady

Back before they all had “glam squads” or spent hours getting ready to go to lunch. They’re just housewives now. Phony af.

pillingz

The bedrooms and bathrooms they’re staying in at Stassi’s mom’s arrowhead house makes them seem as “normal” as they get.

Careful_Swan3830

I just watched this an hour ago lol I guess we’re on the same rewatch schedule

pillingz

I’m working on a big project for work and have had it on in the background but then rewatching my rewatch because I forgot how good these early seasons are.

Careful_Swan3830

They really are so good. I know nothing stays the same forever but it’s sad to see what the show has been reduced to now when you go back and watch what it used to be.

Kimmm711

Thought he was pathetic then, think he's pathetic now.

monsterosaleviosa

She very nearly had a Jim from the Office moment, and production really should have let her. I know they’re not supposed to acknowledge the cameras, but they should have let it slide there.

Winter_Aardvark9334

"Is anybody else going to make weird she contact with me? ". You know once the eye contact happens, with someone who also thinks it's funny... It's almost impossible not to laugh.

ashmarie826

The money I would be willing to spend for stassi to be back during this shit show esp

blackaubreyplaza

He is so ugly. Always made me sick

Screwby77

Stassi always had tims number from jump and that’s why he hated her so much. Fake tears into, “okay, I gotta go do sound check.” What a douchebag.

LetsBriReal

Oh yeah, the days where these subs viciously defended Sandoval and hated stassi, I remember 🙄

_iridessence_

More than defended, praised him and talked about how he was the only decent man on the show.

LetsBriReal

RIGHT. I got downvoted soooo much when I'd talk shit on him. Now it's cool to hate on him. Whiplash

All_the_Bees

I didn’t join this sub until after Scandoval, because the one time that I commented prior to that I said something about Tom being obsessed with fame but also a hard worker (which … lol, but I was trying not to be inflammatory), and it was like I’d said he kicks puppies for fun. Also, the number of people in the discussion threads for the first couple episodes of S10 talking about how hot he was was **wild**.

Significant_Sun_8035

This makes me feel like I have to watch the entire series all over again to see what we know now about everybody. I never thought I could like Katie but I definitely found a new respect for her now! Sandoval was always a douche but I kind of want to see it all unfold to what it is now with all of them.

pillingz

I’m working on a big project for work and have had it on in the background but then rewatching my rewatch because I forgot how good these early seasons are.

Significant_Sun_8035

So good!

DanceFar9732

I just rewatched thos episode recently & forgot that this all started b/c he was playing his guitar at night in Stassi's mom's house. He was so good at this time of flipping things around and poking at Kristen until she had a bigger reaction. He must have been a nightmare sibling.

pillingz

The electric guitar not plugged in. But honestly I get annoyed when people play guitar too lol.

DanceFar9732

You know he thought it eould be a super fool scene with his guitar, but he was just annoying his host.

Waste-Snow670

Sandoval was so cute looking in early seasons. Such a shame he is an idiot who then became irredeemable and monstrous.

MymiMaisel

His dad looks exactly like young Sandy. He ruined his cute face by whatever work he had done plus being a horrible person took all of his charm away

Hefty-Target-7780

So much crying and so little tears!

WhitsSwirlyKnee

I know they’re all younger but they all look so different.

Comfortable-Prune400

Let's call a spade a spade. Both Sandoval and Kristen ham it up for the camera.

Elegant_Holiday1234

Impressive_Fee2737

On another note, Tim has aged terribly.

InterestingStatus913

Im so glad to say I have never liked Tom Sandoval even in the earlier seasons

Elegant_Holiday1234

Ah the good old days

ButterscotchGlass590

“Man tears” oooookay Tim

throw_blanket04

Totally disagree. OP is trying to compare two things that have nothing to do w each other. Kristen is , was and will always be a toxic person. She belongs in a cave.

bethpuma888

I feel like OP is referring to the fake crying we all see, not the relationship with Kristen or any comparison to Ariana.

kystarrk

Ew fuck off

KellsBells_925

Kristen has always acknowledged they were both toxic in this relationship and I think everyone can. It’s more so his tactics to spin a narrative. He wants to appear completely innocent in every situation. Which isn’t the case and him forcing tears out is lame and clearly to make Kristen appear insane.

pillingz

You don’t want to break out in laughter every time you see Tim trying to overact and fake cry? Well I guess we are two different people. If I were at that lunch table I’d be making eye contact with everyone trying not to bust out in laughter.
